BIG BASS, small package, great price

This sub punches way above its weight. Something you'd expect from an entry level 15". I've been designing Sub systems for car audio for 30 years. Passive radiator systems are more like "bandpass" subwoofer boxes. Difficult to get right, the "pass frequency range" is where the radiator shines. This Forcefield sub accomplishes that frequency range in the very lowest of octaves while managing a really smooth transition at both ends of the range. When using the LFE input, adjustability is limited to gain control so some sort of external crossover (home theater receiver with LFE output?) is needed to feed this the correct information. There is also no ON/OFF switch. Power is by signal sensing. This is truly a SET AND FORGET type subwoofer unit. Good for small to medium spaces
Pros: Unbelievably smooth, deep and authoritative bass from a little unit.
Cons: System actually turns down or even temporality shuts off the sound to prevent distortion. This itself is not a "con" but can come as a surprise, especially during a suddenly demanding passage or scene in a movie.

Great Sub!
Andrew from Greenville, NC on 12/17/2021
This is an amazing subwoofer! I was using another, more expensive sub until a couple of weeks ago when it suddenly died. So, I thought I would try a GoldenEar sub since I already had GoldenEar speakers in the rest of my home theater system. It was much easier to integrate this sub into my system than my old sub, and the bass is noticeably lower and tighter. It is very well constructed, just like other GoldenEar speakers. Also, it is very simple - just an LFE input, low-pass setting, and volume control. It's refreshing to find a great product that is easy to use and is not super expensive. I highly recommend this sub. One bit of advice: if your receiver has a setting for low-pass filtering for the sub (in the speaker setup), turn it OFF. Use the setting on the sub itself, along with the volume control. This way you can really dial it in for the best sound.
Pros: Easy setup Low, tight bass Solid construction Very reasonable price
Cons: May be too simple for 2 channel music

Goldenear ForceField 4
Crutchfield customer from Littleton, CO on 8/9/2021
This is my first time hearing the Forcefield 4 subwoofers from Goldenear. I added them to my home theater for extra bass. My first impression was OH MY GOD!! The bass from these subs shook my room right out of the box! I would highly suggest \ recommend these to anyone who wants great bass and bass heads. They more than deliver. They blend in real well with my Definitive Technology speakers. Two things I want to point out: the amps stay on for an hour and a half to two hours after the signal is cut and the grilles are really hard to get off. However the amps stay pretty cool to the touch. Still highly recommended. It's the bass I have been craving for years.
Pros: Detailed bass, room shaking bass, lightweight, and definitely hits those infrasonic notes.
Cons: Amps on for about two hours after signal cut and grilles are hard to get off

Amazing value. Amazing sound. Amazing vibrations.

I thought my 14-year-old Velodyne SPL-1000R subwoofer, for which I paid $1500, had gone out so I did some research and ordered the GoldenEar ForceField 4 from Crutchfield. (Turns out the Velodyne's volume had somehow reset to zero for the first time ever). I was going to return the GoldenEar sub but thought I'd at least give it a shot. WOW! This thing definitely plumbs the depths of infrasound. While I was always happy with the SPL-1000R which was rated to 24Hz, the GoldenEar ForceField 4 convinced me within minutes that it was a keeper. There were frequencies coming from the Home Theater System that I'd only previously felt with my main sound system, which features 35-year-old Polk SDA-SRS2 speakers that reach to 12Hz (they faithfully reproduce the 16Hz organ pedal on Respighi's Pine of Romes by the Atlanta Symphony). My home theater system is in a 12x20 room in a 90-year-old log cabin...wood floors. It appears to be an ideal situation for the ForceField 4's down-firing "quadratic planar infrasonic radiator." While I read a review that stated bench tests of the ForceField 4 revealed that it did not go below 24Hz, I now have to respectfully disagree with those test results. The ForceField 4 produces powerful, tight, and without-any-doubt infrasonic bass. I'm extremely happy that I did not return it without even opening the box.
