Upgraded my 20 yr old Axiom M60s to these. Good move. Soundstage is bigger, there is clarity at all levels I didn't have before. Considered many speakers but the glowing/ gushing reviews of the Tritons won me over. Initially I was not wowed. What is a $2500 upgrade supposed to sound like, anyway? An A/B comparison showed the Axioms still had lots of life. 98% of my use is home theatre, via streaming or DVD. As the Tritons break in, they sound better and better, filling my 13x16 room. I started listening to recorded music again, and the Tritons are quite good at that too. Still fiddling with placement and degree of toe-in. I have two subs and did not worry about bass response, which is at all bad, and still improving. I gave 4 stars not because of any failing in these speakers, instead avoiding superlative ratings of an area I am not expert in. Best speakers I ever had? Yes, but then I only replace them every few decades, so they better be. Are there better speakers out there for my space? Probably, but who has the time, money and willingness to trial many speaker brands at home, where it really counts? My Atmos setup is good, and the Tritons play their role admirably, but not it's not what I expected. Could it be improved? No doubt, but ceilings would be torn apart, wires run all over and furniture moved. A better receiver than my Marantz might help, but overall I can't chase unicorns. In sum, the speakers are very, very good and I'm content.

I have to say Sandy Gross & Company nailed it with the GoldenEar lineup! I was able to pick up a pair of Triton Fives and oh my god do these speakers deliver. I won't repeat everything Ned mentioned in his description of the Triton Fives, but he is spot on. I'd tell you that these speakers perform as well as, or better, than speakers I've heard costing five to six times the money. Brilliant highs, dynamic mids, and a great low end ... don't think about it, just buy them, you won't regret it. Very highly recommended to family and friends.

Pros: Great design, phenomenal sounding ...

Cons: Not the most elegant looking speaker with the cloth covering, but the sound more than makes up for it.
