Versatile, effective security

The Floodlight Camera from eufy can light up your outdoor space with the wave of your hand — or a quick touch in the eufy Security app. It's a security camera that offers a lot of bang for your buck, including 1080p video capture, dual 2500 lumens floodlights, two-way intercom, and a siren alarm.

Configure all those features for your specific needs in the flexible and user-friendly app. Get alerts when activity is detected, and check in anytime.

Free, private local storage

One of things that sets the Floodlight Camera apart from similar products is that all your security footage is privately stored inside the unit's 4GB memory. So there's no monthly fee. There's also no way eufy — or anyone but you — can share the content.

Easy in-home setup

Even though it's hardwired, if you're replacing an existing floodlight, you don't necessarily need an electrician to install the Floodlight Camera. Instructions are easy-to-follow, and eufy even supplies an S hook so you can hang the Floodlight Camera from your outdoor junction box while you connect the wiring.

A three-prong plug is provided so you can plug in, set up, and test out the functions inside your home before you install it.

Voice and app control

The eufy Security app allows you to customize several settings. For example, if you live in a busy neighborhood, you can draw up to four Activity Zones, to keep kids playing or neighbors strolling by on the sidewalk from triggering alerts. You can also set the motion detection sensitivity level.

For hands-free control, you can use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa (sold separately). Just ask the voice assistant to show you what's happening with your floodlight camera, and see it right there on your smartphone screen.

More details on the eufy Security Floodlight Camera

Mark G.

Product Research

Features

Overview: The eufy Floodlight Camera (T8420) can enhance your home's security by lighting up the exterior of your home while recording 1080p video when motion is detected. The Floodlight Camera replaces an existing floodlight and connects to the existing wiring. Sensitive motion sensors trigger notifications to your smartphone, and starts a recording which you can view live in the eufy Security App. The built-in microphone and speaker let you interact with your visitor via two-way audio. It also includes a loud 100dB siren to scare off unwanted visitors. The Floodlight Camera comes with mounting and electrical hardware, and connects to your home Wi-Fi network.

Floodlights: The Floodlight Camera includes two 2500-lumen floodlights to light up the nighttime. The lights are motion-activated to scare off intruders, and light up the area for better detailed recordings by the camera. For best coverage, the dual lights can be independently adjusted in multiple directions. In the eufy Security app, you can set the floodlights at different brightness settings for manual and motion-detected illumination.

Camera: The Floodlight Camera can stream live and record full 1080p High Definition video. Its 140° wide-angle view covers a huge area around your home. It has 4 GB eMMC storage onboard, which can store about 14 days worth of recordings (based on 30 one-minute recordings). The camera watches the area constantly while storing a rolling 3 seconds of video in memory. When an actual event is detected, the camera starts recording and adds the 3 seconds pre-buffer to the video so you can see what triggered the alert.

Installation Requirements: The Floodlight Camera should be installed to a round junction box with existing wiring. Out of the box, the unit has temporary wiring with an AC plug for powering up the camera during initial setup and registering the camera to your eufy Security account. When you are ready to install the lights outside, you will need to remove the power cord from the floodlight wiring and attach the black, white, and green wires to the existing wiring inside the junction box. You can mount the Floodlight Camera vertically on a wall, or hang it upside down on an eave. Eave mounting requires the camera to be rotated 180° for proper video orientation. For best detection range, it should be installed no higher than 10 feet off the ground with a down-tilt of no more than 30°. The camera has an IP65 rating to withstand all types of weather, and can operate in temperatures between -4°F and 122°F.

Wi-Fi: The Floodlight Camera needs to connect to your home's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. It does not support 5 GHz. The camera should have a strong signal and a minimum 2 Mbps upload speed. The camera is a standalone product, and does not connect to the eufy HomeBase hub.

eufy Security App: The eufy Security app lets you view live video from your smartphone or tablet, plus engage visitors through two-way audio. You can set up motion detection and customize up to 4 activity zones in the critical areas around your home. When motion is detected, the app will send you instant notifications. The app is compatible with Android devices running operating system 5.0 and up, and iOS devices running iOS 11.0 or later. The eufyCam2 Pro can be viewed on a web portal instead of your phone, and on Macs running macOS 11.0 or later and a Mac with Apple M1 chip.

Voice Assistants: The Floodlight Camera system can be connected to Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant so you can see what's happening around or in your home at any time. Smart displays, such as the Google Nest Hub or the Amazon Echo Show, you can ask Alexa or Google to "show me the back yard" or "light up the driveway."

Q
why this camera doesn't record all the time?
[ samqwwww  Mar 03, 2022 ]
1 answer
A
I believe the intent of this camera is to record when motion is detected. You do not want a constant recording as you only have about 3GB of storage. You can customize your Activity Zone where you can pick up more activity base on the perimeter you set. Also, this is relatively based on where the camera is mounted. For example, if its in your back yard and nothing has entered the path of the Activity Zone you've customized and the sensitivity is set to Low, you won't see much. On the other hand, if the camera is mounted facing an area of high traffic and activity, like the front or corners of your home, with the sensitivity set to High, you may pick up more clips of activity. I hope this helps.
