Features

DS400 Speaker Stands: The Pangea Audio DS400 speaker stand uses a steel top-plate, ultra-strong support columns, and a heavy-duty base to provide an incredibly solid and rigid platform for compact monitors and other bookshelf-type speakers. The DS400 speaker stand can support up to 120 lbs and is available in three heights - 24" (25.25" w/ spikes), 28" (29.25" w/ spikes), or 32" (33.25" w/ spikes).

Note: The DS400 speaker stands are priced and sold as pairs.

Sonic Benefits: The design, engineering, and construction of the Pangea Audio DS400 speaker stands deliver sonic benefits for your speakers - including improved image focus, low mid-range coloration, and optimal bass performance.

Steel Top-Plate: The DS400 speaker stand's steel top plate weighs 1.2 lbs and measures 6" wide x 8.5" deep. Four soft rubberized top pads are supplied for speaker isolation.

Steel Columns: Pangea Audio's DS400 speaker stand features four rectangular steel columns, forming an amazingly strong rectangular support structure for improved speaker performance. Additionally, all four columns can be filled with sand or steel shot for even better vibration damping.

Heavy-Duty Steel Base: The DS400 speaker stand has a heavy-duty steel base weighs 5.3 lbs and and is 0.125" (4mm) thick. It measures 9.9375" wide x 12" deep. Heavy-duty, large-diameter solid metal bolts rigidly couple the support columns to the base for a solid and rigid platform.

Spike Feet: The DS400 speaker stand comes with adjustable carpet-piercing steel spikes that install to the welded channels on the bottom of the heavy-duty base. These steel spikes help to isolate the stand and your speaker from the floor, absorbing vibration energy and preventing uwanted coloration of sound.

Note: The spike feet can damage hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl and other hard surface flooring. No rubber feet or protective discs are included with these stands.

Customer Q&A

6 questions already asked

Q
I have a silly question, how does the speaker stay on top of this stand without tipping over, especially a heavy speaker that this stand is designed for? What keeps the speaker secure on the stand, in a home theatre environment where people could be walking in front of the screen by the speaker stands? Thanks!

A
Greetings Jason, and thank you for your question. Nothing really attaches the speakers to the stands. Pangea includes 8 rubber pads (4 per stand) to keep the speaker from sliding off under normal vibration. Getting a good bump, has a risk of the speaker and stand falling. For the most part, that's how a good sized bookshelf speaker is going to be placed on a stand.

Q
How are these compared to the Bowers & Wilkins STAV 24?

A
Certainly both are an excellent choice of speaker stands. The Pangea Audio DS400 are the ones I own which replaced my older B&W stands. I replaced both the stands and speakers going with SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers. Noteworthy, the Pangea stands will accept a heaver speaker than the B&W stands and come with a longer warranty. Both are aesthetically pleasing.

Boy, it's been a while since I've purchased the Pangea stands. I've been very happy! I actually can't remember how the dimensions stacked up to one another? As I recall, it might have been the larger plate the speaker was attached to or the four pedestal design that appealed to me. That being said, I had to retro fit the feet because I didn't want the spikes digging into my hardwood floor... so rubber feet were the answer for me. HAPPY.

Pangea's are rock solid. I'm using them with Quad Z2. Very happy. I can't help with the B&W as I don't know those. Hope this helps
[ JEFFREY  Mar 05, 2023 ]
A
The bowers and wilkins stands are not as solid.

My "Pangea DS 400 steel speaker stand" came via UPS, labeled 47 pounds. I hope that helps.

Q
I am thinking of getting a pair of ELAC Carina BS243.4 speakers. The height of the ELAC is listed as 12-5/8". Would the Pangea DS400 with 28" height put the ELAC speakers at ear level for best listening position? What other height level for stands would you recommend? Thank you.
[ KHOA  May 01, 2023 ]
1 answer
A
Ear level can be different for each setup depending on a wide variety of factors, Khoa. We can estimate that the fabulous JET folded ribbon tweeter on the Carina's is around roughly 10" from the base of the Pangea DS400's top plate. That would put the number at around 38" with the 28" DS400 option. I think that is a pretty good height, but if you need to go higher you can with the 32" version in the link below. Take some accurate measurements of your listening space and yourself and choose the version that fits best! https://www.crutchfield.com/p_325DS40032/Pangea-Audio-DS400-32.html

Q
Is the manufacturer name printed on the base of the stand?
[ L. CURTIS  Aug 28, 2020 ]
6 answers
A
You have the option to stick the manufacturer name onto the base of the stand. It comes as a self-applied sticker
[ JAMES  Aug 30, 2020 ]
A
It's on a sticker that you apply to base of the stand. If you choose to do so. Definitely optional.
[ EDUARDO  Aug 29, 2020 ]
A
Curtis- No, it's not, at least on mine. There was a heavy-duty sticker enclosed in the packaging for those who want to place it on the base (or anywhere, I imagine). These stands were recommended by a friend who knows a lot about audio. He sold me Buchardt S300 monitors and had them on very good stands. He said these Pangea are equal in value, and considerably less money, so I got them. Very pleased. A friend of mine bought them for his new Dynaudio monitors at the same time I did, and he likes them very much, as well. Just make sure you have someone helping when you build them. Otherwise you might want to scream and throw something.
[ ANTHONY  Aug 28, 2020 ]
A
No, it is not printed on the stands; there are stickers/decals provided that can be affixed if so desired.
[ JOHN  Aug 28, 2020 ]
A
no, they come with Pangea logo branded stick-on labels.
[ COLIN  Aug 28, 2020 ]
A
No. The base has nothing on it. They provide a "Pangea" sticker if you want to put it on. I didn't.
