A brief chat exchange with Hugh pointed me towards the Dynaudio Evoke 50's. The reviews were few but those found on the web were near rave reviews. Let me add another - simple yet beautiful. Big sound. Clear sound. They still need to settle in a bit but the music emanating from these slim boxes fills the room like stand mounts never could. I turned off the external subs and don't feel the need for them any longer as the bass is low and tight. Crutchfield is a gem of a company who strives to make the buyers experience a positive one. 5 stars for Dynaudio. 5 stars for Crutchfield.
Pros: A week into listening and the sound is enormous...
Cons: ... the high's are a bit bright but should settle in nicely.

Buying tip: If you have a pair of headphones, use the SpeakerCompare function to test speaker sound characteristics, selecting similar and comparable sets of different speaker brands. It works and was incredibly helpful to buying my speakers remotely! Spent a month or so with my new Dynaudio Evoke 50's. Old man re-entering audio after 30 years. Went all digital first, no turntable yet. Bluesound Node 2i, using Tidal MQA when possible, running through an Anthem STR Integrated with an SVS SB-3000. Reaching back into old Stanley Clark, Jeff Beck, Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, and Steely Dan. Absolute bliss. Tidal is introducing me to new stuff too. Emotionally: Smiles, goosebumps, tears. Technically: Precise, distinct, musical, effortless, real, surprising all the time. This is all still new, but I believe the Dynaudio soft dome tweeter is sweet and exceptional. The overall loudspeaker design is beautiful. My wife is happy. The build quality reflects the design, engineering, and construction standard of Dynaudio. Take the front grills off and hear them sing! The SB-3000 fills everything in and adds detail to the highs. I have not even tried Anthem room correction yet. Running flat except the sub. I am so happy. Finally, I would like to offer my deep appreciation for Eric's support all the way through. Multiple conversations, texts and emails with outstanding insight epitomizes the Crutchfield business model. Thank you Eric!
Pros: A serious loudspeaker Design is beautiful Engineering and build is outstanding Exceptional soft dome tweeter and midrange performance Blackness between sounds and instruments Projects in a large room with clarity and force
Cons: Makes me wonder what more can Dynaudio do? Having the SVS SB-3000 truly is additive
