A big 7" screen for hitting the road, trail, or both
Magellan's TR7 Trail and Street portable navigator does way more than lead you to your destination over asphalt. Its built-in trail maps let you explore many less-traveled route possibilities, whether you're in the woods, desert, mountains, or plains. You can check out detailed 3D and topographic maps on its bold 7" display. And the TR7's Wi-Fi® connectivity lets you save and share your adventures with other bold souls online, so they can check out the amazing rides you've taken.
Many maps for the adventurous traveler
The TR7's basemaps cover the entire U.S. and Canada, giving you a detailed look at your off-road environs, either in topographic 2-D view with contour lines, or in a high-resolution 3-D terrain view to determine elevations and land features. It also includes maps of highways and secondary roads, along with hundreds of thousands of key outdoor and off-road points of interest. A barometric altimeter and 3-axis electronic compass come in handy if you're exploring on foot.
Get familiar with over 120,000 trails
Magellan loaded the TR7 with over 120,000 designated off-road trails, so no matter where you live in the U.S. or Canada, you can start exploring immediately. The routes cover forests and public lands and feature reviews and ratings by other off-road enthusiasts. Just select a trail, hit "Follow," and you're on your way.
Check out a different scene
Explore unfamiliar territory with confidence as the Magellan leads the way. You can start recording your trail as soon as you begin your trek, and you can hit the "backtrack" button at any point during your excursion to get guidance back to your starting point along the exact same route. And you'll get a warning if you're veering off a trail you're following, so you can get back on the right path quickly.
Locations you can count on
The TR7 lets you mark different waypoints with different markers to indicate meetup locations, scenic views, campsites, obstacles, and more. And you can record custom waypoints when you're stopped, using current location, GPS coordinates, and more. Name the waypoint and add audio, photos, and descriptions to make them more attractive. While your vehicle is in motion, you can still save a waypoint, but you won't be able to customize it until you're safely stopped. You can also share trails with others via imported and exported GPX files.
A generous 7" display makes it easy on your eyes
The Magellan's 7" capacitive touchscreen display shows you your surroundings in an eye-friendly manner. You'll enjoy smooth navigation through the user interface, whether you're mapping, tracking your data, or uploading information to social media.
Get connected with Wi-Fi
Magellan's TRX Trailhead online portal is where you can share your adventures, find new trails, and interact with other outdoor enthusiasts online, and Magellan makes it easy to access through this navigator with built-in Wi-Fi compatibility. You can prepare for your next trip by uploading trails and/or satellite imagery when connected to your home network, and then take advantage of your own portable Wi-Fi hotspot to get online when out in the wild.
TRX Trailhead online
The TR7 features a built-in browser, so you can establish an account through the TRX Trailhead portal and have access to user ratings and reviews of different trails, plus custom trails they've created. You can set up a profile for your vehicle and link to your personal Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts to share your adventures with others online. Your TRX Trailhead account can log your trails, trips, and dirt miles covered, and give you achievement badges for milestones reached and destinations visited. There are also companion smartphone apps you can access when you're away from your TR7 or computer.
Your TRX Trailhead account also lets you rank trails you blaze, including 4-wheel-drive requirements, road conditions, terrain types, pitch, roll, and more. Once you've ranked your trail, you can publish it to the TRX Trailhead online community for sharing and evaluation purposes.
Free map and software updates
Magellan stands by the TR7 with free periodic map and software updates. They're available through Wi-Fi, so you don't even have to hook your TR7 to a computer or download the update to your laptop. A new map update was released in January 2019.

Magellan TR7 Trail and Street reviews
I couldn't decide between a two star or the three star I ended up giving it. If I had to do it over, I would just find an Android tablet with GPS built in and use google maps. Lets start with the good: 1. Decent screen size 2. The areas that I have used it in have been accurate and had all the trails, dead ends and it worked pretty good. 3. Got mine on-sale for $195 Now the not so good: 1. Screen not bright enough 2. $30 per year if you want to use satellite view (and to be honest this really pissed me off). 3. Interface a little clunky compared to today's phones and tablets 4. Not a very good Window mount
Pros: Screen Size Worked well for trails in my area Got mine on sale.
Cons: Screen not bright enough $30 per year if you want to use satellite view. Interface a little clunky compared to today's phones and tablets Not a very good Window mount

Overview: The Magellan TR7 Trail and Street GPS Navigator (TN7771SGLUC) is designed for on- and off-road mapping and navigation. It has a large 7" color LCD touch screen display. The TR7 is pre-loaded with detailed 2D topographic and high resolution (to 10M) 3D terrain views of the United States and Canada. The TR7 comes with USB and AC power adapters, and a windshield suction cup mount.
Display: The TR7 has a 7" color LCD capacitive touch screen display with an 800 x 480 resolution, making it easy to view while you navigate.
Wi-Fi: The device can be connected wirelessly to your smartphone via Wi-Fi through your phone's hotspot. This allows you to connect the unit to the Internet for downloading trails, uploading tracks, getting the latest software and map updates, or connecting with your friends or off-road community through social media.
GPS: The TR7 has a high-sensitivity GPS receiver with a built-in multi-directional patch antenna. The GPS receiver is accurate down to 3-5 meters, depending upon signal strength. The device also has a barometric altimeter.
Routes and Trails: The TR7 has over 115,000 preloaded designated OHV (off-highway vehicle) routes that you can navigate with your 4-wheel drive, ATV, motorcycle, or snowmobile. In addition, the TR7 gives you access of thousands of user-generated tracks that can be downloaded from Magellan's growing database. You can access this community database from your mobile device, tablet, or laptop. These trails include observations and rankings from individuals, and allow you to search by location, difficulty, rankings, and other criteria. You can review the trail ahead of time, then save it to your Wish List of future trails to visit. The TR7 comes with free lifetime software and map content updates, available several times per year via Wi-Fi.
Tracking: The Tracking feature lets you track your progress as you navigate a trail, creating a recording of a new track that can be saved and uploaded to the TRX Trailhead community.
Waypoints: You can create waypoints, such as scenic views, campsites, obstacles, and other details as you travel. While you're moving along the trail, the TR7 will only allow you to select a Waypoint type. Once you stop, you will be allowed to add details to the Waypoint, such as coordinates, a name to your Waypoint, photos, even an audio recording. When you save the trail you have traveled, the Waypoints and its details are saved along with it so they can be viewed by other enthusiasts who choose your trail.
Off-Course Notifications: The TR7 will notify you if you get off-course, and will offer you a guide to getting back to the trail. As soon as you leave the trail, an on-screen message alerts you that you have strayed off-course. The Backtrack feature will guide you safely back to the campsite, entry, or any current trail starting point.
Social Networks: The TR7 can be linked to your Facebook and Twitter accounts for sending posts or tweets to your friends and other members of your off-road community, sharing details of your off-road travels. The unit's hashtag button will even send an automatic, preconfigured tweet from the trail. You must be connected to your smartphone's hotspot, or it will automatically send the post/tweet once the device has a connection.
Dirt Miles: As you travel off-road, the TR7 will keep a count of the cumulative number of miles you have logged when a track is saved to your User Account. As the number of Dirt Miles accumulate, you can earn achievement badges for the number of miles driven or for the type of trails you have traveled.
Battery: The TR7 is powered by a built-in, 1500mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery with a battery life of up to 1 hour per charge. The unit can also be powered (or the battery charged) by the supplied DC power port adapter, AC adapter, or by USB power.
