Magellan eXplorist TRX7 portable GPS navigator

Maps for the trailmasters

The eXplorist TRX7 doesn't include your normal highway and secondary road maps that you'd use for a car. Instead it offers basemaps covering the entire U.S. and Canada, giving you a detailed look at your off-road environs either in topographic 2-D view with contour lines or high-resolution 3-D terrain view to determine elevations and land features. It also includes hundreds of thousands of key outdoor and off-road points of interest. You can upload more maps to the navigator to incorporate traditional over-the-road routing if you like (additional maps may require purchase). A barometric altimeter and 3-axis electronic compass come in handy if you're exploring on foot.

Built-in trails database

Magellan loaded the eXplorist TRX7 with over 44,000 designated off-road trails, so no matter where you live in the U.S. or Canada, you can start exploring immediately. The routes cover forests and public lands and feature reviews and ratings by other off-road enthusiasts. Just select a trail, hit "Follow," and you're on your way.

Forge your own path

Explore unfamiliar territory with confidence as the eXplorist leads the way. You can start recording your trail as soon as you begin your trek, and you can hit the "backtrack" button at any point during your excursion to get guidance back to your starting point along the exact same route. And you'll get a warning if you're veering off a trail you're following to allow you to get back on the right path quickly.

Different ways to make waypoints

The eXplorist lets you mark different waypoints with different markers to indicate meetup locations, scenic views, campsites, obstacles, and more. And you can record custom waypoints when you're stopped, using current location, GPS coordinates, and more. Name the waypoint and add audio, photos, and descriptions to make them more attractive. While your vehicle is in motion, you can still save a waypoint, but you won't be able to customize it until you're safely stopped.

A screen you can count on

The eXplorist's 7" touchscreen display shows you your surroundings in an eye-friendly manner. Its Android software platform ensures smooth navigation through the user interface, whether you're mapping, tracking your data, or uploading information to social media.

Genuine RAM handlebar mount for powersports vehicles for Magellan eXplorist TRX7 portable navigator

Genuine RAM handlebar rail mount and rugged chassis

No matter the conditions, you want to be able to count on your navigator when you're deep in the wild. The eXplorist's water- and dust-resistant housing keeps it safe from the elements, so you can ford streams and plow through mudholes without fear. The tough RAM mount provides a solid attachment to any rail measuring between 0.5" and 1.25" thick, and it swivels so you can position the eXplorist on the included mounting plate for the best view.

Ready for Wi-Fi

Magellan's TRX Web portal is where you can share your adventures, find new trails, and interact with other outdoor enthusiasts online, and Magellan made it easy to access through this navigator with built-in Wi-Fi compatibility. You can prepare for your next trip by uploading trails when connected to your home network, and then take advantage of your own portable Wi-Fi hotspot to get online when out in the wild.

TRX online

The eXplorist features a built-in web browser, so you can establish an account through the TRX Web portal and have access to user ratings and reviews of different trails, plus custom trails they've created. You can set up a profile for your vehicle and link to your personal Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts to share your adventures with others online. Your TRX Web account can log your trails, trips, and dirt miles covered, and give you achievement badges for milestones reached and destinations visited.

Your TRX Web account also lets you rank trails you blaze, including 4-wheel-drive requirements, road conditions, terrain types, pitch, roll, and more. Once you've ranked your trail, you can publish it to the TRX Web online community for sharing and evaluation purposes.

Connect via Bluetooth®

This navigator also allows you to make and take hands-free calls from your compatible phone so you can keep your hands on the wheel of your vehicle and still reach out if necessary.

Routes and Trails: The TRX7 has over 44,000 designated OHV (off-highway vehicle) routes that you can navigate. In addition, the TRX7 gives you access of thousands of user-generated tracks that can be downloaded from Magellan's growing database. You can access this community database from your mobile device, tablet, or laptop. These trails include observations and rankings from individuals, and allow you to search by location, difficulty, rankings, and other criteria. You can review the trail ahead of time, then save it to your Wish List of future trails to visit.

Track Me: The Track Me feature lets you track your progress as you navigate a trail, creating a recording of a new track that can be saved and uploaded to the TRX community.

Waypoints: You can create waypoints, such as scenic views, campsites, obstacles, and other details as you travel. While you're moving along the trail, the TRX7 will only allow you to select a Waypoint type. Once you stop, you will be allowed to add details to the Waypoint, such as coordinates, a name to your Waypoint, photos, even an audio recording. When you save the trail you have traveled, the Waypoints and its details are saved along with it so they can be viewed by other enthusiasts who choose your trail.

Off-Course Notifications: The TRX7 will notify you if you get off-course, and will offer you a guide to getting back to the trail. As soon as you leave the trail, an on-screen message alerts you that you have strayed off-course. The Backtrack feature will guide you safely back to the campsite, entry, or any current trail starting point.

The unit's hashtag button will even send an automatic, preconfigured tweet from the trail. You must be connected to your smartphone's hotspot, or it will automatically send the post/tweet once the device has a connection.
