Very nice receiver: sound, looks, and "feel". Sounds wonderful with my "vintage" speakers in a 7.1/5.1.2 setup, even without the Dirac room characterization completed. It is setup in an acoustically difficult room . Though I have not yet exercised all of the audio processing, it performs well in that room. It seems to be oriented toward professional installation, but Crutchfield support has eliminated the need for that.

Pros: Looks luxurious and operates smoothly. Sounds very good. Seems to be a clear path to update video/HDMI for HDMI 2.1 later.

Cons: Remote is a little insubstantial for such an expensive component. Setup is a little bit complex. Manual and information is complete, but not always clear and a little out of date.

I'd like to give this 4 1/2 stars, but since I couldn't, I rounded up to 5. The AVR10 has a very dynamic and clean sound. Movies are explosive, when required, and music sounds detailed and punchy, or delicate and sweet depending on what you are listening to. I have some older NHT home theater towers and surrounds, and have heard what bad and good amplification can produce from them. A concern was that there might not be adequate power, based on the 80 wpc rating. I know, however, that these ratings are not equal from one manufacturer to another. Let me tell you, I had nothing to worry about with the amplification provided. There is plenty of power left to drive the old NHTs to deafening levels. Setup is not necessarily straightforward if you are not familiar with this type of thing. Don't expect a guided setup like some of the mainstream brands, Denon, Marantz, etc. I found it easiest to get the receiver connected to the internet and then use my PC to set it up through the browser interface. There aren't really instructions for this, but I was able to figure it out. DO update to the latest firmware before doing all the setups. I lost mine after updating. Not sure if it was user error or the Arcam. I could write another 1000 words on what I think. In conclusion, the sound is the best I've had from all the receivers I've owned. (My last was a Marantz SR6007 which I thought was awesome, but this edges it out). The features are great.

I really love the avr 10.I'm not so happy with the tech guy though at Crutchfield. He basically called me a liar, and told me i was arguing with him which was not true.he seemed to have knowledge, but didn't seem to really know arcam. I ended up calling the parent company and fixed the problem in 10 min. Now I feel uncomfortable calling Crutchfield for advise if the guys going to treat me like I'm an idiot when he isn't even familiar with my receiver.

Pros: Sounds absolutely incredible

Cons: Should have setup dvd included. Maual doesn't explain how to set it up, and finding something online, well it's not detailed enough.
