DALI Oberon 1

These worked well for my application - small exercise room, finished basement, wall mounted, matched with Rotel A14 MKII. I was looking for small & unobtrusive, yet able to fill up the space without distortion. Wall mounting eliminated anything that needed to be a foot off the wall or precision placement. The Oberon isn't fussy. But it's not the most sensitive speaker (86db). Compared to my 3-way Dynaudio (7x price), the Oberon's are not as well balanced at lower volumes. But that's not my use case. It's an exercise room, not a listening room. And as I increase the volume from 50 to 80+, they come alive with each turn of the dial, without distortion, and with a surprising amount of base for a compact speaker. I did elect to bridge my downstairs subwoofer. But honestly, they sound pretty good without one.

Best desktop speaker (and I tried many)

These speakers are too small except for very small rooms but for nearfield listening (eg. desktop) I couldn't find anything better. Very dynamic, accurate and pleasant sound. Not a hint of harshness... The only pair I wish I tried are Dali Menuets but they are almost three times the price - Oberons will do just fine. In my setup they are hooked up to Rotel power amp. I'm also using Schiit Freya preamp but even when Rotel was connected straight the DAC (iFi Signature) or phono preamp (Graham Slee Accession) the system sounded fantastic. Freya only adds additional flexibility of running tubes in some situations, otherwise I use it in the passive mode.

Pros: Just a stellar sounding speaker (objective)

Cons: Not that great looking (subjective)

Big bang for the buck

These are great little speakers. After all the research and sifting through all the hype, I settled on the DALI Oberon 1. They're a perfect fit for my medium sized room. I have bought many speakers over the years and listened to a great many more with various Hi-Fi setups and have concluded that these are a game ender for me. For the money you just can't go wrong. I power them with a small NAD316BEE integrated amp which seems like a great match. If you are in the market for a great sounding speaker at this price, give these an audition, they will not disappoint. I want to give a shout out to the Crutchfield for their wonderful customer service. A special thanks to Eugene.

Pros: wide sweet spot and neutral. Big accurate sound

Cons: none

Very nice speaker. I am pairing them with the Cambridge CXA61 amp. Room is 12x12. Fills the space wonderfully. Detailed and large sounding.

Pros: Compact. Big sound.

Cons: Over priced.

Great sound in small packages

The Dali Oberon 1 speakers are great sounding speakers in a small package. I wanted to upgrade my bookshelf speakers, and after much research I chose these. My room is small, with no room for speaker stands or tower speakers. These fit nicely on shelves, and still sound good even fairly close to walls. There's way more bass than I expected, and amazing clarity over all frequencies. I think you'd probably want a subwoofer, depending on what you listen to. I'm using these as stereo speakers, so I have no experience with these as part of a home theater set-up. I expect they'd be good, tho, and reviews say as much. I might take off a half-star for cost; these are a bit overpriced. A bit. But I'm quite happy with the Dali Oberon 1s.

Pros: - great sound - small footprint

Cons: - cost?
