PetSafe Pawz Away® Mini Pet Barrier
Dog training collar device and transmitter
Our take on the PetSafe Pawz Away® Mini Pet Barrier by Crutchfield's Eric Angevine
The Pawz Away Mini Pet Barrier makes sure that hamper will still be upright when you get home.
Keep paws off furniture and countertops
Sometimes you want to give your pet the run of the house, but there may be a few small areas you'd prefer he stay away from. The Pawz Away Mini Pet Barrier establishes an adjustable no-go zone around trash cans, new furniture, or anything else you want him to avoid.
Pups learn where not to go
The Mini Pet Barrier comes with one receiver collar, but you can add as many as you need — each one will respond to the barrier the same way. When your pet approaches the strip, the collar will give a warning beep, followed by a static correction to remind your pet to stay away from sensitive areas, even when you're not at home.
If she keeps getting closer, she'll receive corrections from the collar until she backs away, or until the safety time-out activates after 15 seconds. Before long, she'll know exactly where not to go, and she won't even try anymore.
Part of a whole-home containment system
The collar receiver works with other PetSafe containment systems. A Pawz Away Threshold Barrier can keep pets out of certain rooms. When you head outdoors, the collar device keeps them inside the perimeter of the YardMax In-Ground Fence.

Overview: The PetSafe Pawz Away Mini Pet Barrier (PWF00-13665) is a training tool to teach your pet to stay away from any area you want them to avoid. The Mini Pet Barrier includes a hockey puck-sized (3" diameter, 1" high) transmitter that emits an elliptical radio signal up to 30". When your pet, wearing the Pawz Away receiver collar, gets near the transmitter, he receives audible and static correction through the collar. This package includes one mini-transmitter, a receiver collar, and a cat collar strap. Additional mini-barriers and receiver collars are available for expanding the system to more areas of your home and/or to more pets.
Signal Strength: The Pawz Away mini transmitter emits an elliptical signal in all directions. The strength of the signal can be adjusted using the + and - buttons on the top. The LCD display indicates the signal strength in segments of approximately 5 inches each, up to 30" from the device.
Transmitter Settings: You can set up an unlimited number of barrier transmitters in your home. In a multi-pet household, you can allow one pet access to an area while denying another pet. Switches on the transmitter can be set to Mode A, Mode B, or Mode AB functions to match the collar setting for each pet. In a single pet household, you should leave the setting at Mode A.
Placement: For best results, the transmitter should be placed on a non-conductive surface, such as a wood or tile floor, or a table. It can also be hung on a wall by a single nail or screw. If wall-mounted, you should note that the signal becomes very directional--strongest directly in front and weakest to the sides. You should avoid metal surfaces or large metal objects such as appliances.
Receiver Collar: The Receiver Collar is a lightweight 3/4" wide nylon collar with a receiver with 1/2" long contact points. As your pet approaches the Barrier Area, he'll hear a series of audible tones from the Receiver Collar, and feel a safe progressive static correction, delivered through the contact points on his neck. This correction will continue until your pet leaves the Barrier Area. If your pet doesn't leave, the collar continues to correct at the maximum level for 3 seconds, up to the 15-second time-out. The collar fits dogs with neck sizes 6" to 28", or cats with necks up to 11.5", and can be trimmed to size. The collar and receiver weigh only 1.8 ounces.
Power Requirements: The Mini Pet Barrier transmitter requires three "AA" batteries (not included). The receiver collar is powered by two CR2032 3-volt Lithium coin cell batteries (included).

It should. It keeps both our German Shepherd and our Minature pinscher away from our front door. They wore their collars during the day for the first 2 weeks and now they only wear them about once a week as a reminder. They don't even go next to the door without their collars on to retrieve toys that accidently end out by it. [ Robert Feb 14, 2019 ]
It can work with them. The thing to be cautious of is the neck band. The one included fits neck sizes 6-28" and I recommend measuring that before you purchase it. Also, you can get extra receivers to use with it: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_4810013664/item.html My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101 [ Paul Oct 23, 2017 ] Staff
