About the Profile California CA440
Sporting expanses of brushed aluminum and chrome, Profile's California Series amplifiers definitely look expensive. So, you may not believe your eyes when you check the price! The CA440 4-channel amplifier weighs in with 60 watts per channel at 4 ohms (ideal for powering two pairs of coaxial or component speakers), or 180 watts x 2 in bridged mode (perfect for a pair of subwoofers)!
Built-in, continuously variable crossovers let you optimize the frequencies going to your speakers, so you can achieve exactly the sound you want. The versatile 4-channel design gives you lots of options: you can even run the amp in 3-channel mode, using the two front channels to power your front speakers and bridging the rear channels to drive a single subwoofer. Added bonus: the adjustable bass boost puts some serious punch in the low end! The CA440 comes with the security of a 3-year warranty.

Power Strip: When power is on, the power strip lights up. It is made up of a five-segment LED.
Protection Circuits: This amp has three types of protection circuits: DC offset, short circuit and thermal protection. The red LED on the left side of the amplifier will light to indicate that the amplifier has gone into protection.
Channel Configuration: Channels 1 and 2 are separated from Channels 3 and 4. To give you maximum system flexibility, each pair of channels has a separate input sensitivity control, crossover switch, crossover frequency control and bass boost control.
Built-In Crossovers: This amplifier includes two independent built-in variable high pass and low pass crossovers for channels 1/2, and for channels 3/4. These crossovers feature a variable frequency selection (40Hz-500Hz) for precise high- or low-pass filtering. The slope is 12dB per octave. Both crossovers can be set for high-pass filtering or low-pass filtering, or one set for high-pass and one for low-pass.
Bass Boost: For added low frequency performance, this amplifier has two independent 0dB-12dB variable bass boost centered at 45Hz for channels 1/2 and for channels 3/4.
Left Side of Amplifier:
- Channels 1 and 2 Input Level Control: Rotary controls for adjusting the input sensitivity
- Channels 1 and 2 Filter switch: Select Low-Pass, Off (full range) or High-Pass
- Channels 1 and 2 Crossover Frequency Control: Rotary control for selecting a crossover point between 40Hz and 500Hz for either the low-pass or high-pass crossover
- Channels 1 and 2 Bass Boost: Rotary control for setting the bass boost between 0dB to 12dB (centered at 45 Hz)
- Channels 3 and 4 Input Level Control: Rotary controls for adjusting the input sensitivity
- Channels 3 and 4 Filter switch: Select Low-Pass, Off (full range) or High-Pass
- Channels 3 and 4 Crossover Frequency Control: Rotary control for selecting a crossover point between 40Hz and 500Hz for either the low-pass or high-pass crossover
- Channels 3 and 4 Bass Boost: Rotary control for setting the bass boost between 0dB to 12dB (centered at 45 Hz)
Left Side of Amplifier:
- Line Inputs: 2 pairs of gold-plated RCA jacks (one pair for Channels 1 and 2, and one pair for Channels 3 and 4)
Right Side of Amplifier:
- Fuses: One 40-amp fuse inserted
- Battery (B+): Gold-plated set screw terminal will accept up to 6 gauge wire
- Remote: Gold-plated set screw terminal will accept up to 6 gauge wire
- Ground: Gold-plated set screw terminal will accept up to 6 gauge wire
- Speaker Output: 4 Pairs of gold-plated set screw terminals will accept up to 6 gauge wire; the Channel 1+ and the Channel 2- terminals are used to bridge the amplifier on one side, the Channel 3+ and the Channel 4- terminals are used to bridge the amplifier for the other side
Note: The set screw terminals require a 2.5mm hex wrench (included with the amp).
Warranty: Although documentation included with the amplifier may list a 1 year parts and labor warranty, Profile has extended the warranty to 3 years parts and labor for amplifiers purchased from Crutchfield.
