Getting the most out of Bluetooth

The CDE-172BT features wireless convenience with built-in Bluetooth. You can make and receive calls from either of two paired phones. Alpine designed the included microphone to reduce noise interference, and you can adjust the gain to ensure your callers hear you loud and clear. And with this receiver's built-in sound processing, you can get the best sound quality from your streaming music apps or podcasts.

Sound options

If you're tired of having that great FM station fade away, you can add an optional SiriusXM tuner to enjoy the unparalleled variety of music, news, sports, and talk programming that follows you wherever you drive. You can also use this Alpine's controls to choose from your favorite Pandora stations from your smartphone. When you want to use other music apps from your connected iPhone, you can use App Direct mode to control and display information from other apps on this receiver's display. And if you're bringing your music with you, you can play MP3, WMA, and FLAC music files from a USB drive.

Customize the sights and sounds

Once your music is playing, you can tweak the sound just how you like it using this receiver's 3-band parametric equalizer. The CDE-172BT also includes variable color illumination to add the perfect accent to its easy-to-read display. This receiver also provides three sets of high-voltage RCA preamp outputs, so you can add amplifiers. Speaking of amps, you can also directly plug Alpine's KTP-445A 4-channel amp directly into this receiver for a nice upgrade in power to each of four speakers.

Today I pulled out my 15 year old Alpine CDA9807 and flawlessly installed my openbox CDE172BT. Powered on FM and the Lord looked down upon my work and was playing the blessed Kashmir as the first audio out on this wonderful unit. BT paired without issue, external microphone was crystal clear for phone test, voice button made Google search a piece of cake. Hands down the easy upgrade I've done in years. Now this old Grandpa can pull up my 98 Dodge Ram next to those young whippersnappers at stop lights cranking real music that was meant to played at 11.

Pros: Simple install, flawless bluetooth audio and phone, 3 line outs, simple operation, volume knob

    Cons: Nothing

It's in a 350z roadster and replaced a Bose system. The display is difficult to see with the top up and useless with it down. The sound is disappointing. The cheap standard radio in my Fusion sounds better and plays more stations. The buttons are too small and too numerous. The tuner has an odd quirk. The volume fluctuates by itself. This does not happen playing a CD. The auto time setting resets the clock to the wrong time.

Upgrade to my 15 year old sons factory radio. Wanted to install a hands free phone feature for safety, but got way more! This receiver is incredible! Easy to figure out, connect Bluetooth and use. Great reception. We used the pre-amp outputs and get awesome clarity and volume. I drive his car on occasion just for the system! Paired it with Polk speakers and a 1000watt Pioneer amp. Great bass even without Subs!!

Pros: Does everything you would want and sounds great. Great price for everything you get!

Cons: Haven't found any. He and I both love it.

I've been a fan of alpine for awhile. The first one I got replaced a Sony and there was no comparison. Now they're the only brand of head unit I buy. So I can't compare them to others but I highly recommend from the cheaper ones to the expensive they are worth it. Also I've installed radios at work and I've noticed that other brands have changed connectors and trying to switch radios of the same brand and basically the same model means changing connectors. Alpine has used the same connectors for awhile. I've swapped out the ones on my vehicles and it was nice just being able to plug in.

I purchased this head unit and I love it I was looking for something that could handle my mids and highs jbl. because before I started out with a pioneer that was already in my vehicle full den and it sucked so I purchased a kenwood and j.b.l 6 1/2 speakers all the way around anyway kenwood is not like they used to I would jam on long road trips and the kenwood would go all scramble ish on me so I got on crutchfield and looked for a good alpine because you can't find thmno longer found this one and I was impressed from the start I just ordered the alpine ktp 445A brick amp a few days ago it just arrived yesterday and I installed it boost it up a little bit not as much as I was hoping but plug in play I prefer so I don't have to drain my battery and I hear a difference with my j.b.l's I think I will give it a few more days to see how much I can tweak my alpine head unit to the perfect sound if I can't get a better sound I might just return it and I buy me a soundstream 5000,.4 for mids and highs and a sub for a little bass any how I will repost what I think of it in a few days I give this head unit a 5 star rating

    Pros: Easy setup

Awesome unit in my 2004 JEEP Grand Cherokee. Has so many features it should have cost a lot more than I paid for it!! It paired up with my I Phone and the Bluetooth so I can stream all my music through it and use my Sirius All Access as well. Maximizing my bang for my buck is what this unit allows me to do. The installation was easy with Crutchfield's easy to follow directions. Adam my advisor helped me match my system to my JEEP and he really knows his stuff! A BIG Thank You to Adam and to the whole Crutchfield experience for making this Alpine rock my JEEP.

Pros: Good Looking, Hands Free Option, USB option on front, plug and play with Alpine Amp options.

A happy medium for someone wanting modern features at a good price

I surprised myself when I bought this head unit for my old 05 Tacoma rather than updating to a full screen double din unit. The main reason i went this route is that I appreciate the simple things these days. And mainly, the fact that upgrading to a double din unit most often means you have volume BUTTONS instead of a tangible and intuitive knob!! So this was the way to get modern features with an old style interface . With an iPhone plus i also couldn't justify a screen unit and saved a quarter the cost. So far it has treated me very well with the bluetooth connectivity. I do wish it had a more "advanced" EQ interface but i managed to get the sound dialed in where I wanted anyway.

Pros: volume knob is THE way to go, RGB color display matches my toyota orange perfectly, great simple unit that's easy to use but still modernizes an old truck

Cons: handsfree microphone sends a lot of "road" noise to the caller, but i blame that on my Tacoma being a utilitarian/unrefined truck with little sound deadening

Sounds great. Bass is unreal. Like the fact that I can change the color to match all my new Blue LED'S in my dash. Running 4 6 x 9's Kickers. 2 in the front doors and 2 in the enclose I built under my back seat of my 2000 Silverado. Then I boxed in the two 6 x 9'S.. Replaced the 2 6 1/2 factory with 2 6 1/2 inch kickers. This unit matched with a Earthquake 1000 watt amp and I more then pleased. Oh Ya the customer service has been AWESOME. And yes you can squeeze a 6 x 9 in the front doors of a Silverado... Papabird

This Alpine is a great unit..esp with it's low price. Looks and sounds good and was easy to install. Set-up is also easy. There a couple things about it that I don't like... First, the source button is way too bright. There is a dimmer and brightness control, but any setting less than max makes the rest of the display too dark to read. Second, when adjusting the volume, the display shows the vol level for approx a half second, and then disappears. Wouldn't be so bad, but the vol display is hidden by the users hand when adjusting it. Drives me crazy..have to nudge the vol knob with one finger in order to see the display before it disappears. I would not recommend this Alpine because of these two things.

Replaced a 12-year old Alpine receiver in my 2005 Sprinter with this one. And I couldn't be happier that I did. The installation was a breeze. The BT hook up with my iPhone XS Max is now fast and effortless. And the sound quality is phenomenal. Great price too.

Pros: Easy to install myself - plug n play in my case. Good clarity of sound and balance of tone quality are remarkably consistent regardless of source (bt, radio, usb drive, CD). EQ once and forget about it. BT pairing is remarkably fast and effortless. The Crutchfield customer service agent was great. He hooked me up with the appropriate product. And gave me all of the information and necessary accessories I needed to install it myself.

Cons: The off/on button is too bright and will need to be taped over.

Bought this Alpine back in March. Siriusxm did not work properly-sent it back for another and also had them include pre-wired harness. With the new 172BT, the Siriusxm would not work at all. It kept saying "Check Tuner." I think I spoke to just about every Tech support "specialist" to resolve this problem. They were all very nice, but not one could solve the problem. Over time, 5 months, I tried four 172BTs, all of them came up "Check Tuner" for siriusxm connection. I tried a Pioneer, and got a Siriusxm connection. I tried an old 124 Alpine, and got a Siriusxm connection; the 172BT refused to connect. the cd and radio worked well with the 172BT, and the sound was excellent, but all I got from Siriusxm was "check tuner." I patiently executed all the options given to me by the Tech Support Specialists arriving at the same result; "check tuner." Having spoken to just about all of the Tech Support Specialists, it appeared to me that this is a new problem for them to solve, but none of them seemed curious enough to solve this "new" problem. There has to be an answer, and I challenge Tech Support to find an answer. After five months, and may hours on the phone with Crutchfield, I gave up; I was patient, I was confident in Crutchfield's specialists, but enough was enough. I returned the merchandise, and Crutchfield had the nerve to charge me $10.00 for shipping on a free shipping label.

Have installed many head units in the last 59 years. Simple plug and play connectors. Unit powered on but had no sound. I knew I had one more connection to make, and phoned tech support to ensure it was performed correctly. Made connection, blew a fuse in the vehicle fuse block. Replaced fuse and head unit would no longer power up. Checked all fuses and all were good, including fuse in back of radio. Had to return the Alpine head unit. This was my first Alpine experience & am not very excited about trying another. Will likely go back to Kenwood.

Very pleased with this unit. Installed in a 2005 Nissan Altima. Reception and the sound reproduction is much better than stock receiver, even through original speakers. The Bluetooth phone is clear and required no adjustments for gain. The multicolored display is nice also but requires the brightest setting and white selected for the face to be seen in bright daylight. Installation was a snap. The only challenge was reinstalling the A-pillar cover after running the microphone through it; a bit difficult to line up. The line for the microphone was run behind the dashboard with the excess wire bundled and tie wrapped. Also used the ReadyHarness which saved a lot of time and aggravation. Took less than an hour to install.

Pros: Excellent Bluetooth, sensitive reception, significant sound quality upgrade. ReadyHarness was worth the $$$.

Well, I was replacing a 6 year old Alpine unit equipped very much like this new one. I had considered changing brands but was concerned about just how much rewiring I might have to do. I was able to blow up an old owner's manual schematics about how the plug in mine was wired and compared it to the owner's manual tab that Crutchfield conveniently provides right on their product page and......Poof! It looked like a plug and play to me. Worst case scenario I might have to move or connect an extra wire or so, but hey much simpler, right? Crutchfield was on top of things from start to finish with my order. Fast ship and the right accessories if I did run into wiring problems. Got the new unit, plug looks the same, unplug old unit, and plug in the new one....success. Since Bluetooth was an option on my old unit I only had to plug-in the microphone to the back of the unit and clip the tiny mike on to the dash. Done. So the new unit is great. I think Alpine has cleaned up the top end and they have replaced the old Loudness with what they call their Bass Engine. I still think I prefer just adjusting tonal balances the old fashion way. I run this with a self powered sub in my Fiero Gt and I like it. And, no it is not a boomer set-up but I have a great sound stage with tight accurate bass. And so far, so good with this receiver.

Pros: Nice head unit. Clear highs and decent bass. Everything works as advertised.

Cons: Bass Engine is a little confusing. Still not sure I like how it sounds when it is in use.

This unit was purchased to replace an 05' Pontiac Vibe's Monsoon OEM 6-Disc AM/FM head unit after the disc player crapped out after only 13 years of daily use. The OEM Monsoon 2 ohm speakers, amp & subwoofer, which still function great, remained intact. Having a 24-bit DAC CD player with a great sounding 8 dBf sensitivity AM/FM tuner were the primary features being sought in a replacement. After waffling between several brands, it all came down to just one word: Alpine. Dollar for dollar this very affordable Alpine CDE 172BT is a great sound system that is loaded with all the latest features, is easy to operate, and looks sweet in the dash. The BT paired up quickly and painlessly. But the sound, the sound is what really makes this unit a winner. The radio is crystal clear with plenty of options for station programming, the disc player delivers impeccable sound and the BT 3.0 / Smartphone features function like a champ. The 3-band EQ along with the 11 preset EQ profiles provides plenty of sound tuning options. The detachable faceplate is a nice feature as are the multi-color lighting display options. A SLC-4 was required to complete the install. It's a solid little sender that was easy to tune and simple to install, especially with Crutchfield's pre-wired harness. Plug it in. Turn it up.

Pros: Read the product overview and details sections. It's all true.

Cons: The display is a tad washed out in the daylight, but it's not a deal breaker.

Solid unit and really like the visual display adjustment. Finding stereo head units that fit with the control display of the rest of the car is helpful to reduce the impact of non OEM installed products.

Pros: Great value unit with easy to use controls

Cons: Would like more power built into the head unit - 25W RMS at this price point is reasonable.

The truck I installed this in was a 1995 F-150 with the original radio, couldn't believe what a difference this radio made in the sound. The main reason for upgrading was for Bluetooth capability, which works well. The only downside is that the default blue lighting is very hard to see in bright sunlight, but I gave it a 5 star rating anyway. This unit gave me everything I wanted for a reasonable price.

Bluetooth is super finicky. Doesn't always connect to my phone or any device I try to use. Sometimes I can talk on the Bluetooth with my phone sometimes I can't. If you listen to CDs on it there's a constant popping noise on plosives even at low volumes. You have to go through three layers in the menu to get to detailed sound settings. If you're listening to music via USB you will get the same popping on plosives but at higher volumes. I've checked and re-checked every other component of my system and everything is fine. Popping sounds started only after I installed this deck. I would not recommend to anyone that wants loud, serious quality sound. I will be swapping it out soon and I've only had it for a few months.

    Pros: Clean look.

Cons: All things listed in review in addition to tiny buttons and complicated setup. I've been using aftermarket decks for years and it still took me a bit to figure it out.

My last four Head units were 3 Alpines and one other brand. After the other forementioned brand, I purchased this Alpine unit and soo glad I did. I love the ability to change the Key and display color settings. There are a few settings that this unit doesn't have compared to my other Alpines but I really think the sound quality is so much better that I don't need all the adjustability. The price point is a no-brainer, the value of this unit far exceeds the price. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

I REALLY like this radio! Finally, a full featured radio that is easy to use. If I can operate it, anyone can. I have only needed the manual on some initial set-up items like display color for instance. If you are looking for a head unit that actually has a great tuner, then this is the one; both AM and FM reception are outstanding. I have been very disappointed in the last 2 aftermarket "radios" I have had because it seems like the tuner section is an afterthought; one of those units was over $500, and had an awful tuner section. Last, but not least, the CDE172-BT sounds great. I can't imagine more bang for the buck.

Crutchfield made this purchase very easy. They also gave me free harness for my car!! You must Buy all audio stuff here! Very good head unit. Many features, custom screen color and Equalizers. BT is pretty basic The radio reception in my area was great. I heard a station on almost every dial!! Comes with a high quality microphone for BT calling. Sound quality is good has BASS BOOST. Also It's not necessary but I like a little more power and volume so I added to Alpine Kttp-A 4 channel amp and a slight improvement was made.(Will probably go with more powerful 4channel amp later). But this review is about the CDE-172BT and it is overall good! Only thing is that this unit does not come with a case for the detachable face plate. I knew before buying but I guess thats limited to the more higher end models.

Pros: Great Quality build and sound. I've only had good experience with Alpine products.

Cons: No case for the faceplate but that's ok.

I didn't replace any of the speakers, and this unit sounds a ton better than the old radio. Also has a really good FM receiver, pulling in stations I hadn't received before. The customizable key and display colors is a neat feature and allowed me to have a display color that matches the amber of the other displays in this old car.

I installed this in a 2010 Tahoe. Bought the bracket to fit where the Bose system was. Had Crutchfield make up the connections and everything fit great and was a real easy install. I love Alpine. Sounds great!

    Pros: Sounds great

    Cons: None

The stereo sounds great and works well with the ktp 0445 power pack. The bluetooth features are nice and the phone mic picks up well, even in a noisy vehicle.

    Pros:

Cons: Only complaint is that the volume dial is so small and not easy to grab for adjustment. Most all ate like that though.

    Built-in Bluetooth

Bluetooth 3.0 The Alpine CDE-172BT features built-in Bluetooth 3.0 with support for hands-free communication and wireless music streaming. You'll be able to make and receive phone calls wirelessly through the receiver, as well as stream music wirelessly from your smartphone to the head unit. In order to use Bluetooth wireless technology, your phone must also be Bluetooth compatible and be able to interpret certain profiles. This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles:

    • Hands-Free Communication: HFP 1.6 (Hands Free Profile), PBAB 1.0 (Phone Book Access Profile).
    • Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.3 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Alpine CDE-172BT.

Multi-Device Pairing + Dual Phone Connection: You can pair up to three Bluetooth-enabled devices with the Alpine head unit. You are even able to keep two Bluetooth-enabled phones connected at the same time, so you can make and receive calls from either phone through the head unit. You can only stream music from one phone at a time; you will be able switch between the two phones front the head unit's rotary control dial. When a previous paired Bluetooth device is in close proximity to the receiver, the auto connection function automatically connects the two units.

    • Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth enabled phone to the Alpine CDE-172BT without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings.
    • Auto Pairing (for iPhone): You can also pair your Apple iPhone (iOS 5.0+) by simply connecting it to the Alpine head unit via USB and following a single prompt on the head unit's display.

Hands-Free Communication: The head unit supports Bluetooth hands-free communication for your Bluetooth enabled smartphone (including iPhone & Android). Thanks to the latest Hands-Free Profile (HFP 1.6) with wideband speech capability, the CDE-172BT provides more natural sound quality and details during wireless calls. The controls of the CDE-172BT can be used to dial a number, answer an in-coming call, or end a call. The unit also includes an external microphone, so you can carry on your side of the conversation while listening to the caller through your vehicles speakers. During a conversation, you can initiate a transfer of audio between your mobile phone and your car's speakers.

    • Receiving A Call: The Alpine CDE-172BT provides a couple ways to answer your phone calls without picking up your phone. Incoming calls are announced by a caller ring tone through your vehicle's speakers (music will be muted) & a Caller ID message across your Alpine head unit's display.
      • Manual Answer: Manually answer an incoming call by pressing the "Phone" button on your Alpine head unit.
      • Automatic Answer: Set the Alpine head unit to answer the incoming call automatically; when a call is received, it is answered automatically after approximately 3 or 10 seconds.
      • Call Waiting: If a second call is received during a current call, you can have the first caller wait momentarily while you take the second call. When you are finished with one call, you can switch to the other.
    • Making A Call: The Alpine CDE-172BT provides a variety of functions for placing a phone call without using your mobile phone. The Alpine CDE-172BT features full phone book access, call history, voice tag dialing, and redial with compatible phones.
      • Voice Dialing: If you have a voice-dial capable phone, you can dial a phone contact by simply speaking the name of your contact.
      • Phonebook (with ABC search): Up to 1,000 contacts (5 telephone numbers for each name) can be downloaded from your compatible mobile phone. You can select the first 3 call letters (ABC) to search for a desired name in your phonebook.
      • Call History: The previously dialed, received, or missed numbers (20 each) can be retrieved and dialed from memory.
      • Redial: You can easily redial the number or contact you dialed last from the head unit's front-panel controls.

Wireless Audio Streaming: The Alpine CDE-172BT supports wireless music streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP) of a Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or audio player. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth source device to the Alpine head unit. The CDE-172BT will process your Bluetooth audio using its built-in DSP Sound Expansion to ensure you get the best sound.

    • SBC + AAC Codecs: In addition to support for the standard SBC Bluetooth audio codec, the CDE-172BT offers support of AAC.  By supporting AAC, the Alpine receiver offers better audio performance of the music streamed from your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad.
    • Playback Control: The CDE-172BT will be able to control basic playback functions such as Play/Pause, Previous/Next Track, Fast Forward/Rewind and Random/Repeat. Advanced music browsing (such as song/artist/album search) will still need to be done from your Bluetooth source device.
    • Song/Artist Display: The head unit will also display your stored music and music app's song information; such as Artist name and Song/Album title (not compatible with all apps).
    • Volume Level: You can adjust the volume level of your connected Bluetooth devices from -6dB to + 6dB. This negates the need to adjust the volume level between sources each time.
Note: When an incoming call or outgoing call is in progress from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, audio streaming will be paused so you can take your call. Once the call is finished, your streaming music will resume.

Siri Eyes Free Control: When paired and connected to an iPhone with Siri via Bluetooth, the Alpine CDE-172BT has the ability to access Siri through its front-panel controls and external microphone. Simply press-and-hold down on the head unit's "Voice" button to engage Siri and use the included microphone to communicate with Siri. Siri's voice will heard through your vehicle's speakers. All Siri functions including hands-free calling, music search, setting reminders, text-messaging, audible navigation, and more can be done through the CDE-172BT and its microphone. You even can ask Siri to get directions to a destination and the turn-by-turn instructions will heard through your vehicle's speakers, while the on-screen map still displays on your iPhone with Siri. The head unit's audio is attenuated while Siri provides audible directions.

Note: The head unit's display will only indicate hands-free calling and Bluetooth audio information (all other functions of Siri are only audible through the CDE-172BT; visual data will still need to be viewed from your iPhone device).

External Mic: The included external microphone is tuned and engineered to reduce noise interference and feedback. This allows optimal placement in your car, for the best possible sound quality. The external microphone measures 0.5625" (diameter) x 1.5625" (deep); and features an attached 11.5' cable terminated by a right-angle mono-male 3.5mm connector.

    Android/iPhone Integration

Android Direct Connect via USB: The Alpine CDE-172BT enables playback of stored music and music apps on select Android devices through its front-panel USB port. There are two types of modes (AOA 2.0 or MTP) to choose from based on your type of Android smartphone and what content you want to listen to.

    • AOA 2.0 (Stored Music & Music Apps): The CDE-172BT supports Android Open Accessory 2.0 (AOA 2.0), which lets you connect your Android smartphone (OS 4.1-7.1.2) to the CDE-172BT's front-panel USB port and listen to stored music and music apps from your Android device through the Alpine head unit. You'll be able to control basic playback functions, such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Other advanced music navigation will still be done from your Android smartphone's touchscreen. In this mode, the head unit will not display song/artist information; only "Android Mode" will show up on display. You'll continue to view song/artist information from the Android device's touchscreen. You'll still be able to access other functions and applications from your Android smartphone's touchscreen, while listening to music through the head unit. If you make a call or answer a call from your smartphone while listening to music in this mode, the music will pause until you are finished with the call and then start back up again.
    • MTP (Stored Music + Song/Artist Info): The CDE-172BT also supports MTP for playback & control of stored MP3/WMA music files on your Android (OS 4.0+) device through the Alpine receiver's front-panel USB port. In this mode, you get basic playback control (like Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track), plus song/artist information on the receiver's front-panel LCD. During MTP connection, you cannot use your Android smartphone's touchscreen to control music playback and you cannot select music apps from your smartphone for playback. However, you can continue to listen to stored music on your Android smartphone through the head unit while you check your Calendar, Facebook, Texts, etc on your phone.
Note: You will need to setup Android connectivity within the head unit's menu. Select "MSC/MTP" for MTP playback and "Android" for AOA 2.0 playback.

iPhone Direct Connection: The Alpine CDE-172BT's front-panel USB ports can be used to connect your Lightning Apple device or 30-pin iPhone 4S to the head unit. The USB connection allows for playback of stored music and music apps on your iPod or iPhone through Alpine receiver. If you have a newer iPod/iPhone with the Lightning-connector, you can use Alpines KCU-471i Lightning connector-to-USB cable (sold separately) or the Lightning-to-USB cable that came with your Apple device to connect your iPod/iPhone to the CDE-172BT. If you have an iPhone 4S with a 30-pin connector, you can use the 30-pin to USB cable that comes with your Apple device to connect your iPhone 4S to the Alpine CDE-172BT.

    • Basic Playback Control: You are able to control basic playback and search functions from the head unit, such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. Advanced music browsing (such as song/artist/album search) will still need to be done from your Apple iPod or iPhone device's touchscreen.
    • Song/Artist/Album Display: The Alpine CD receiver will display your iPod/iPhone's music file information. The CDE-172BT will display artist name, song title, and album label.

Looked at several comparable CD receivers with BT. The Alpine has the brand reputation coupled with 24 bit DAC, 3 4v pre outs, SW controls, external microphone and was a bit cheaper than the comparable Kenwood. [ Lynn  Sep 10, 2018 ]

Because Alpine has been a consistent performer over the years. They still make a simple, robust, high quality stereo system that is not full of useless features. As long as Alpine continues to offer a decent, easy to use CD player for automobiles, I will continue to buy Alpine stereos. [ Jimmy  Jun 19, 2018 ]

Ford F150 XLT fitment 2006 DIN vs Double DIN Do both fit without modification to dash?
    [ W  Apr 26, 2019 ]
    2 answers
    A
I installed in a 2000 Lincoln Navigator - I had to remove some of the existing 'plastic substructure' for fitment - mainly trimming so the unit would sit down into the dash. The over all fitment was very good - as I used the 'kit' from Crutchfield for the installation. this was a gift for my daughter - I performed the install myself and it took approximately (?) 2 hours start to finish as I had to solder wires for the harness. She loves this unit as she uses with her Iphone.and hands free phone call. The times I used it - it has worked flawlessly.
    [ Bret  Apr 26, 2019 ]

They both install the same way with the install kit. Single DIN uses the pocket andthe double DIN doesn't. I actually looked it up before I answered you.

I doubt it. The reason for the detachable face is theft prevention. If you could then you could just steal a detachable face and order the rest.

Unfortunately no. I truly am so sorry to hear that you lost the complete radio itself.
