I use this product primarily to listen to CDs through a custom stereo in a 1987 Caddy, with Alpine Halo9 head unit. The Alpine DVE-5300 I initially received was in damaged packaging and did not track or play, making a broken-sounding noise when it tried to spin a disk. Crutchfield quickly replaced the unit (which I returned), and my second DVE-5300 works great. It is fastened with Velcro to the glove-box floor of my 1987 Cadillac Brougham. The remote receiver is installed on the dash to the right of the climate controls, and the unit plays through an Alpine Halo9 iLX-F309 receiver. The picture is good, and the remote works well. So far, the unit tracks flawlessly with DVDs and CDs, even over railroad tracks and gravel roads with washboard ruts, and playing 25 year-old CDs with considerable wear and scratched-up surfaces. I am satisfied and would recommend this product.
Pros: Good tracking stability on rough roads. HDMI output, optical audio output, easy installation.
Cons: Does not play Blu-ray discs. Does not support a multi-disc magazine.

Small, fits into my lower center console nicely! Clear, sharp image, works really well. Perfect for playing cd/dvd, switches between the two with no problems. Good investment.
Pros: Small, hideable, great pic, sounds great.
Cons: Price but it's Alpine so I guess you expect to pay a little more.
