Over all the ILX-207 is a great deck, especially if you get additional amps. The deck itself does not have the power to cleanly run any 6.5s other than what may be stock in your vehicle. The function and features are really pretty cool, I do wish it would do apple car play over the bluetooth, It does not. It is annoying to always have to plug it in to use the functions. THE Biggest issue with this deck is concerning because it is the reason I bought this ilx-207, There is dust between the touch screen and the screen. This is very concerning, I am going to call tech support to see if there is a way to clean or blow it out, this also makes me wonder about the IP67 rating, Will water get in it? Time will tell.

Pros: Good Features, easy to read layout

Cons: low onboard power, NOT Dust proof

Easy to navigate through the menu. Easy to install with vehicle plug and play kits. The only issue (most if not all radios) the foot brake, park, e-brake safety must be installed to operate and access the menu. You can for extra cost have someone pre-wire the radio to the vehicle wiring kit for faster install that makes it plug and play (I didn't get this service because I added amp, maestro, and bypass).

Pros: Easy to install, price, function

Cons: Foot brake and e-brake safety lock out, but most of not all have this feature.

In general the system seems okay, but it would have been better if the RSA audio feature was supported. Also the resolution on the ILX could be better considering the current display technology. The maps can be somewhat fuzzy rather than sharp compared to factory units. The microphone mount is pretty cheap with a little rubber tube swivel and only a visor clip. Having multiple hands free kits over the years the visor mount isn't convenient. Rather see an omni-directional microphone stick on or at least a stick on swivel ball dash mount like you see on other microphones. Typically I mount the microphones near the rearview mirror mount to keep it out of the way and get good performance with quality microphones equivalent to the factory On-Star system or Motorola hands free units.

Pros: A lot of features. Three camera support is nice.

Cons: Screen resolution isn't the best. Microphone mount clip is poorly designed.

This is an amazing head unit. I installed it and a Alpine HCE-C1100 back up camera on my wife's 2012 Jeep Wrangler. The main reason for installing this was for the back up camera but I was surprised with a huge increase in sound quality from the factory amp and speakers. It is a night and day difference. We use the Apple Car Play function and couldn't be happier with that as well. I'm still learning all the capabilities of this unit and I'm very impressed with how many features it has.

Pros: Very high quality Huge increase over stock sound quality Lots of features Easy to use

Cons: A tad pricey

Upgrade from Ram factory radio

Terence from Glen Burnie MD on 10/11/2019

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I wanted to upgrade my factory radio in my 2014 Ram 1500 Big Horn. I have the factory Alpine speaker system, which is very nice, but the factory radio with the 5 inch screen was bland and lacked fuctionality. The installation of the Alpine IL-207 was fairly straight forward; I bought the pre-fabricated cable bundle, which was a HUGE time and effort saver. The radio looks good and the screen is very vibrant and responsive. I like the displays for my IPod songs and also for radio stations. The sound is a definite upgrade over my factory radio. I miss having an actual volume knob, but I AM able to utilize my steering wheel controls. You have to be careful with the volume; one review I read stated that there was not a mute button. While this is technically true, pushing and HOLDING the volume down button mutes the radio. So, if you're accustomed to holding down the volume control on your steering wheel to quickly decrease the sound, you will mute it, altogether. On the downside, the interface between the radio and my IPod Touch is very poor. Skipping a song takes anywhere from 5-10 seconds (it was instantaneous on my factory radio). It may work better with my Note 10+ and Android, I haven't experimented with that, yet. Navigating between screens and functions can be a bit cumbersome and I don't like how radio presets are arranged. Overall, I am happy with the purchase.

Pros: Display, ease of installation, sound quality, price

Cons: Poor IPod interface responsiveness, cumbersome navigation of screens, clunky radio presets menu

Great sound quality, as to be expected from Alpine; everything else is just bleh! Display picture is lackluster, the GUI and controls are clumsy and overly complicated, with the exception of the dedicated navigation button. Frankly, I expected better at this price point.

Pros: Great sound, dedicated map button.

Cons: Lousy display quality. Clumsy layout.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Absolutely incredible. My favorite feature is the automatically adjusting display to ambient light. Too many head units only have two settings, this feature works so well in my Jeep Wrangler with the top down and constantly changing light conditions. The physical buttons on the front are a bit small and crowded but it's nice to have tactile buttons, which is hard to find anymore. I wish you could specify which app the NAV button opened, but I guess thats an Apple issue. (I prefer Waze over Apple Maps which is the default) LOVE the customizable key color, set to amber to match my orange Jeep. The lag disconnecting from the backup camera is a bit obnoxious. UPDATE THE FIRMWARE for better touch screen sensitivity. (simple process, just need a decent thumb drive). Disappointed there's no Spotify app for the favorites list. Takes a while to power up.

Pros: Ambient light auto-brightness adjustment, Crisp display, dedicated function hard buttons.

Cons: No knob!!! Slow to power up. Slow to switch off the backup camera. Firmware upgrade is a must to improve touch screen sensitivity

I installed this receiver in a 2011 VW GTI with the dynaudio amp and speakers. Installation took only couple of hours. I suggest you watch a few Youtube videos to familiarize yourself with what to expect. I used Crutchfield's's pre-made harness and the PAC RP4-VW11 interface to retain stirring wheel controls and connection to the stock amplifier. Everything works as advertised. First, it gave the interior of a car a modern look with CarPlay functionality. The unit is zippy and responsive. Second, the sound quality is wonderful comparing to the stock unit. It definitely woke up the dynaudio speakers. So, if you are on the fence for buying a new car because of dated media unit and lack of contemporary functionality in your current car, I strongly suggest you upgrade your head unit...

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Exceptional sound and functionality. Installation in my 2014 Nissan Juke was easy, but it did bring an issue with accessing functions. Alpine has produced a product that gives you the classic sound quality that they are known for, but they have made it more difficult to bypass the parking brake wire for video and subsystem access. In order to get into the sound menus, you have to set and unset the parking brake a couple of times in order to let the unit know you aren't moving. This needs to be done to get Android Auto started, as well as the Alpine TuneIt app. Not a big deal. Once you the parking brake sorted, take your measurements and open the app, and set up the dimensions and tone adjustments, and the sound really comes alive. I am blown away at the difference over my stock radio, and it is far better than the Kenwood it replaced.

Pros: Great sound quality, easy to use (even with multiple screens of functions), Alpine TuneIt app, ease of installation.

Cons: Parking brake needs to be applied several times to get unit to recognize the vehicle is parked to access major tone controls and Android Auto.

After spending 12+ hours trying to get this radio installed I finally gave up. Apple carplay does not work. The backup camera does not work. The Maestro module does not provide tire pressure data. The automatic A/C does not work. The Crutchfield tech told me this feature only works on Jeeps. The sound coming through the unit is flipping amazing though. Pretty much as expected. Bought it for the Android Auto mainly. The integration between my galaxy s5 and head unit is a 4/5 as it is not completely seamless but it gets the job done. I like using iheart radio on the unit from my phone. Sounds good. I can hook multiple bluetooths if necessary. Did not use any of HDMI ports (yet) Did not hook up speed sensor cable I had some minor issues with the steering wheel controls but a call to crutchfield solved it. Looks great in my 2010 Tacoma.

Pros: Android Auto Looks great! Sounds great Minimum screen selection needed for selecting choices HD radio Plenty of room for wires in back since there isn't a disc drive

Cons: Difficult to use phone when connected to Android Auto A front USB port would be nice (space taker though)

Installed in a 2004 Toyota 4Runner. tldr; the stock radio was way better than this unit. I'm not quite sure why this radio is so popular. I purchased this primarily to add Bluetooth and a backup camera. I was also curious about the Android Auto features. Sound: The sound is terrible. Crackling coming out at low volumes at higher voice pitches. No fader/front speakers only. (Used the Crutchfield ReadyHarness wiring service, so not my wiring.) User interface: this is not intuitive. I've driven a lot of rental cars while traveling for work so I can usually get up to speed pretty quick. Not the case with this unit. Settings menu: I used ReadyHarness but there were still 3 wires I had to connect. Had I known this I would have just paid a local shop to install it. One wire is to attach to the parking brake to allow access to the Settings menu. There was no information on this.I called Crutchfield and they sent a picture however connecting to that wire didn't work. Android Auto: I'm not particularly impressed with Android Auto. Waze and Google Maps are not very accurate. (The GPS antenna is also installed) Mute: I should have been more careful about this but there is no mute function. Best alternative is to press power for 5 seconds to turn off. Mild annoyance but is a factor. I do like the large capacitive touchscreen. No one has said anything negative when on bluetooth calls.

Pros: Capacitive touchscreen, Bluetooth calling

Cons: Sound, interface, lack of settings menu while driving, no mute, inaccurate GPS.

Fits perfectly in my 2014 Jeep wrangler, and the install was much easier than anticipated. Using the Crutchfiles recommended additions, the steering wheel controls, uconnect, and all of the existing amplifiers work seamlessly. This unit has added car play and android auto which I now feel I can't live without. The parametric EQ and speaker timing are very good to help with the acoustics and poor speaker locations in the jeep. There are a number of audio controls to customize sound to your taste and music. Infound the ability to adjust all the source volumes a huge plus, so when you switch between sources the levels will be the same and you do jump out of your seat. Because I still have stock jeep amps and sub in the mix it isn't fair to critique the sound quality, but will say between the stock head unit and this one is night and day. I highly recommend this unit for the incredible features and flexibility, you can use this head unit by itself, or with amps and allows the flexibility to upgrade and is an outstanding core to any system. Simply put with all its features, flexibility and size this is the right fot for anybody and application, buy this headunit.

Perfect upgrade for my '15 Focus ST1 to give it much needed features. I wish it could be used to better choose which features of the stock sync system are to be used, but that's probably more on the maestro module than the radio. Screen is responsive, but lacking resolution. Paired with a kicker speakers and an alpine power pack, the sound output is greatly improved.

Pros: Responsive Touchscreen, Easy integration with maestro module,

Cons: Could have better screen resolution,

Finally. Seamless integration with Waze through CarPlay! Transition between modes is very fast, and sound quality is excellent. I installed this unit into my father's beach truck, and even he noticed the MUCH improved sound over the stock Bose/Delco/GM head unit. I may have been driving the online techs insane with the number of times I ran through the product filters -- every single time, this Alpine popped to the top of the list. I'm so impressed with it, that I'll be getting one for my Wrangler. Do I like the iLX-207? Well, I will have purchased two. I think that says it all.

Pros: Perfect integration with factory settings, great sound, subtle/elegant appearance

Cons: ...maybe the lack of volume knob (trying to list something here)

In early 2018, I bought a 2015 Ford F150. Beautiful truck that was perfect for all my needs... except... that lame 4.3" screen and barely-there sound system! Crutchfield to the rescue! The Alpine iLX-207 is an EXCELLENT head unit! I have just a single complaint. It seems that the output is a little weak. The RMS power to the speakers should be more for a unit of this quality. Also, the "level" coming from the line level inputs seems to be a bit low as well. I had to turn up the sound sources in the setup menu and also crank the subwoofer gain to get the good bass going. I'm running Apple Carplay mostly and the system is SMOOOTH on this rig. Love the capacitive touch screen and the ability to use the EXISTING rear camera in the tailgate! Also hooked up the OBDII connector and get a bunch of great info on the truck such as tire pressures, speed, system voltage and more! I went with an Alpine KTP-445A Power Pack to help power the speakers and it was a GREAT decision! It's totally plug and play with the Alpine iLX-207 and sounds fantastic with my Infinity Reference REF-9632ix front door speakers and my Infinity Reference REF-6532ex rear door speakers! I added in a powered sub that I previously purchased and it sounds AMAZING in my truck now! All the systems were connected with an iDatalink Maestro ADS-MRR and a iDatalink KIT-FTR1 faceplate. It was a bit daunting to re-engineer my climate controls into that KIT-FTR1, but the entire project was 100% successful!

Pros: Excellent UI / Setup / Feature Controls Capacitive Touchscreen iDatalink Maestro support for full integration OBDII Connection for On-Screen Vehicle Diagnostics

Cons: Weak Power for Speakers / Mini-Amp Required Seems like the line out levels were low Illogical feature lockouts for "safety" (there are 3rd party solutions for that)

Nice looking unit - CarPlay quirky/troublesome

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I've been running this unit in my 2012 VW Golf R for about 2 weeks now, and although it has some good (great?) features, it doesn't live up to what I'd hope it would do - which is make for a seamless CarPlay experience in my car. The good - As someone who listens to FM HD, AM and satellite radio, being able to set favorites across the bands is really nice. Unit pushes great quality sound out of my factory speakers, and although I'd quibble a bit with how the song info gets displayed, it's just that - a quibble. The touchscreen interface is snappy and easy to navigate while driving, and the steering wheel control with the iDataLink aR device works predictably. The bad - CarPlay and my in-car bluetooth get confused. I have to connect devices in a specific order to make sure the source I want is connected. CarPlay often requires me to launch apps on the phone to get them to activate in the interface on the head unit (I have a 5s, so perhaps this is the root of this ... but I'm not sure). This device interaction seems to confuse the unit/my car Bluetooth, as when it is playing radio or satellite sources with CarPlay active it randomly mutes them, with the only fix being to restart the unit. CarPlay often crashes. My commute is ~half an hour, and CarPlay crashes at least once every trip. Sometimes this is fixed by disconnecting/reconnecting the phone, sometimes a unit reset is needed. If you're looking for truly seamless CarPlay for your Mk6 Golf, I suggest yo

Pros: Great native features, especially for setting favorites across sources

Cons: CarPlay just isn't seamless, and crashes frequently with my iPhone 5s

I was highly excited to get this for my wife's 2017 Subaru Outback. The primary feature we were looking for was Android Auto and Waze through the head unit similar to our 2018 Legacy. After flashing the Maestro and performing soldered connections between the Maestro wiring harness and the 207's wiring harness. I ran the GPS and OBD2 connections through the dash and made all connections. Immediately, there were issues: 1) front speakers did not work 2) Back up camera did not work 3) No android auto after setting up bluetooth and then connecting phone via USB 4) Could not get into setup I found that the unit does not recognize the state of the parking break when you first turn the car on. I actually had to start the car, take the parking break off and then on again for the unit to allow access to setup. I called tech support and they spent plenty of time (more than 2 hours) with me. We swapped front and back speakers and no luck. They determined the unit was defective. They sent a new one overnight, I kept the harness in place and swapped the unit and no luck on the speakers but the camera worked. More calls and now a replacement of the Maestro unit too. Performed every combination of Maestros, wiring harnesses and still no front speakers nor android auto recognition that there was new car to sync with After two days wasted trying to get this to work in the Outback, it's all going back.

Pros: Never got it to work

Cons: Loss of Aux port since Maestro needs the aux port Loss of built in USBs since there is only one USB port and you can't do Android Auto over the built in (this may be a Subaru shortcoming?) Can't get front speakers to work in Outback Problems with Android Auto with LG G6 phone

2008 GMC Sierra. Installed with all the recommendations made by Cruthcfield and was installed and playing in 30 minutes. Sounds great and does everything I wanted from Apple Car Play. I see a lot of reviews from people complaining (read them yourselves) about sound/lights/camera adjustments not being available and so far not one of the complaints about these items have I not found the answer to the 144 page user manual. Yeah it's big and to get full use of this radio you need to read it.

I installed it in a Jeep Wrangler 2015. I'm very satisfied with the system and the service. Only did a small modification in the dash opening. I had to cut about half of an inch hight to make it fit, also the with required some work. I had to build a wider face cover to cover the entire opening, it is one-inch smaller than the opening. But it was minor but the outcome was worth it. Looks good and works great. I purchase and installed the camera from you and it also works great.

Pros: Easy to install and has all the great features found in a new vehicle.

Cons: It would be nice to have multiple faceplates options for different vehicles.

Exchanged another brand(thanks to Crutchfield for that and the credit) for this Alpine. Have had Alpine in the past and was always satisfied. So glad I made the switch. The more I use it and its features, the more I love it. I was going for this at first, but, I decided to go with a lesser priced brand(for some reason and can't remember why) instead. Like taking a test, you first instinct is usually right, and this was no exception. This sound difference compared to the first one is noticeable improvement and I just wasn't as satisfied with the first one as I am now with the Alpine. This unit is so much more responsive for adjustments, easier to use, and the sound is second to none. The Car Play really ROCKS from the stored playlist on my iPhone, and the Bluetooth connects very fast compared to others. The cost was slightly more than the first one, but, so worth the difference. Very pleased with Alpine. It will be very difficult to get me to switch to anything else in the future.

Pros: Touchscreen very responsive and easy to use. Feature rich along with the Car Play and Bluetooth.

Cons: After three months of use, I can't seem to find any "cons". Maybe the price, but got so much more for it.

AWESOME!!! I might of enjoyed the project of replacing my 2004 Chevy Avalanche stereo with the much updated Alpine stereo as much as or more than the actual stereo itself. I have no background in this but watched a few YouTube videos and was able to do it with no problems. I did have to make some adjustments last weekend with where I originally had the microphone. I moved it from by the steering wheel to the sun visor, so far a smart choice. I feel like I got a new truck with this unit. I had the factory stereo with a cd stuck in it, which means all I had was am and fm. I didn't realize what I was missing until I put this unit in. I now have everything from Apple CarPlay (podcasts, maps, Apple Music, and much more) to Bluetooth to HDMI to watch movies and mirror my iPhone. Everyone compliments me on the new radio. My brother already followed in my footsteps and replaced his factory stereo after seeing mine. I know the one concern I had when purchasing this stereo was the fact that you have to plug in for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Let me clear this up...yes, you do have to plug in to use Apple CarPlay but two things: first, it is no problem and you get used to it in no time and second, you can still Bluetooth EVERYTHING. The only reason you really HAVE to plug in is for Apple Maps because the rest is just audio that will play through the Bluetooth. For quick trips to the gym or work, I usually just use the Bluetooth and then CarPlay for longer trips. BUY!

Pros: Apple CarPlay, HDMI, touchscreen, fit to my truck, built in microphone option, Crutchfield's wonderful service and webiste, (I could keep going)

Cons: Hey Siri (doesn't work as well as it should but maybe an iOS issue)

Overall, I am pleased with this unit. Purchased it because of its dual ability for Apple CarPlay as well as Android. Controls easy to use and with iDataLink Maestro, my steering controls and car computer interface with the unit as well. Downside is no wireless CarPlay as in the 107. Only USB connection. Thumb drive also works with USB but only if FAT formatted. Included instructions OK, but included old picture of my old radio which had one less connector. I recommend letting Crutchfiled assemble connector harness, as it both saves times and is less confusing looking at iDatalink and Alpine wiring diagrams. BTW, this fit my 1007 Toyota RAV4 Limited with JBL system. Crutchfield support excellent as usual.

Pros: Apple compatible, excellent screen and audio, Multiple bluetooth users with priority settings for phone, text. Crutchfield support excellent.

Cons: Apple and Android Carplay only through USB not wireless

When I first turned it on, I was struck by the great, clear sound. EQ, time alignment, and other setup functions work great. The Alpine favorites function is great, but doesn't cross over to CarPlay apps, which is an Apple thing, as I understand it. iDataLink Maestro works perfectly and provides engine and TPMS monitoring. Nice. I had some install challenges due to previous mods to my audio system, but Crutchfield support gave me a lot of help. For someone who would be replacing a stock, OEM system and has some familiarity with auto electrics, it could definitely be DIY. CarPlay is solid when you use an Apple-certified lightning cable. Nice to have all the iPhone functions you need in the car without having to touch the phone. BTW: The USB extensions I tried kept losing connection, so if you have that problem, try plugging an Apple USB-to-lightning cable straight out of the unit.

Pros: CarPlay Great Sound iDataLink Functionality

Cons: CarPlay's programming limitations prevent complete integration

Radio is great, everything is simple and easy to use. Mic works great, blocks out a lot of background sound. My f150 has headers and a custom exhaust, so its extremely loud, the mic is able to block that out for the person I am talking to. Phone connects quickly as well. The display is great and the touch feature works perfectly with my fat fingers. Tons of options to pick from, the favorite bottom comes in handy and is a great way to quickly access different areas, features or apps.

Pros: multiple cameras accessory controller (great for light bars) clear screen android audio

Cons: no option for adaptive sound when slowing down or speeding up parking brake needs to be hooked up to get into 90% of the menus/options. However there are ways around this so you can access everything even when driving if you wanted too.

Loaded with features and easy integration with external devices and factory system. For the price I expected a little more in sound customization. This HU doesn't even have the ability to set speaker size, vehicle size, or elevation of sound. The sound is great otherwise and I believe it is due to the fact it is an Alpine. They produce quality products without requiring as much aduiophile expertise. Hoping once inard the alpine Kap-445 and replace the stock speakers sub and amp this will make quite an amazing sound system in a rather small SUV. Screen quality is great and has bright visibility in day and night with auto brightness. Touch responsiveness is decent. Better than the SYNC system in Ford vehicles but not as good as a phone or tablet.

Pros: Screen brightness, GUI, Sound Quality, phone integration

Cons: Less sound customization than expected at the high price.

First this is an excellent receiver. Sounds much better than the stock system in my Honda Minivan. The unit is everything that's promised - Apple Car Play, Sat radio and hands-free work flawlessly. I have a back up camera and the Maestro (to connect my steering wheel controls) plugged into the unit. What I particularly like is that the system is nicely integrated - the car automatically connects my phone to bluetooth if I don't connect it to Apple play. Switching between texting, phone calls and music work without glitches. In fact, Siri works better through this unit than the phone itself! I have had other aftermarket systems that are buggy and don't work as advertised. In short, certainly worth the money. When considering a unit, I purchased the Alpine because of the quality and excellent reviews by professionals and consumers. Now for those of you that are considering installing the system yourself, don't hesitate. The Crutchfield team is UNBELIEVABLE - responsive, knowledgable and friendly. I had them on the phone to trouble shoot connecting the back up camera. 5 minutes and it was fixed! The installation process takes time - it took me about 5-6 hours but I was taking my time testing as I went along. I am a bit anal retentive, so the majority of the time was running wires so they were secure and not visible. Several pieces of advice, pay the extra money to have them do the wiring harness for you. It saves a ton of time and make the installation fool proof

Pros: Awesome sound, nicely integrated features. Separate volume control for radio, phone, Apple Car Play

Cons: Slow boot up time - takes about 10-15 seconds before it begins playing music. Reverse camera works instantly though so I still give it 5 Stars

Alpine iLX-207 was installed into a 2014 Camry after the Pioneer Entune Premium died. Toyota wanted $500 to repair the Entune, $1000 for refurbished or $4k for new if they could find one. I spent two weekends researching models and studying how to remove and replace. The installation was not hard, just more time consuming than expected. Some wiring glitches with regards to parking brake and associated documentation, but Crutchfield techs were superb and readily available for assistance. Skimpy manual provided in the box, but a very detailed, 101 page manual is available on line. Installation is totally successful, nice custom fit. Sound quality is richer, volume control could be better tuned. Apple play works nicely, i-phone bluetooth and all its features works well. Navigation - haven't figured this one out but can use i-phone maps connected thru Apple play. Can only hope this radio (oops - head unit) lasts longer than the Pioneer Entune.

Pros: Attractive radio, Rich sound quality Bluetooth and Airplay compatible Sirius XM compatible

Cons: Navigation ?? - Does it exist? Skimpy manual in box - Parking Brake ties into System setup - nuisance. Volume control is lacking. Maybe the next version could provide additional increments.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I've had Alpine products off-and-on for 35 years, so choosing their unit just made sense to me. Unfortunately, the quality of their components is not matched by the information they provide. In the days of a simple stereo things were mostly self-explanatory, but no more, and you may as well read tea leaves as the manuals. Documentation is marginal, at best, so now I have to call and attempt to divine the proper steps to accomplish what I'm after. I have managed to figure out a lot of the features via trial-and-error (a degree in Computer Science seems to help a bit) but there are things that just should be more obvious that require digging. The parking brake interlock would have been a show-stopper, had I known it existed prior to purchase. You can't access the setup menu AT ALL - so good luck when you discover the screen is too bright when you're driving down the Interstate. (No, it doesn't dim with the dash.) When it works the Bluetooth integration is excellent, but incessant "Device Not Available" messages appear - despite the device being situated within inches on the unit - and keep re-appearing regardless of the selection made on the screen. Navigation? Who knows! There's a GPS antenna (which I was careful to install per all the cautions) but if there is any navigation functionality it is a complete and utter mystery. Smart phone integration? Yes. Sort of. I think. Again, a woeful lack of documentation. Lots of ambiguous generalities

Pros: Alpine quality

Cons: Marginal documentation, Parking Brake Interlock, Manuals stink, Dimming not accessible while driving, Woefully inadequate documentation, inconsistent Bluetooth initiation, did I mention the documentation is lousy? Volume granularity (one click is a HUGE jump.)

I have been using this unit for a couple of weeks now and it works very well. Great sound, easy to use controls, and good integration with Apple products. The removal of the disc drive leaves plenty of room for aftermarket harnesses. I'm using mine with a factory Bose system and it sounds better than stock. One note for GM owners; the GM Bluetooth is integrated in the car, not the receiver unit. My phone wouldn't work with calls until we realized that my phone was attempting to connect to both the car and the receiver at the same time.

Wiring rattles horrible in the Dash and A pillars

Nice unit, looks great in my pickup and sounds good, although with just push button volume you can't keep as good a control of volume as you'd like. My biggest hangup with the unit isn't the unit itself, but it's with the wiring. I had a professional outfit in Helena MT install it and there is a horrible rattling from the wires from the unit in the A pillars and in the dash. I've got about, took it back to the shop and they said there was really nothing they could do about it, it's just the nature of the unit itself and the layout of the wires. Took it to a second shop that said they could take care of it, same thing, sounds horrible. More money into the installation and reworking it and still rattles like the A pillars and dash are going to come out of the pickup (2013 Chevy Silverado). For sound and what it does, it's a nice unit, but apparently the wiring set up isn't what it's cracked up to be. For what I paid for the unit & accessories it's honestly pretty disappointing (have had it in my pickup about 2 months now).

Pros: Nice unit does what it says it does.

Cons: poor engineering of wiring and installation. wires rattle throughout the front end of my pickup now and takes away from other enjoyment/function of unit.

Great headunit! The speakers in my car were already upgraded along with having a quality amp and subwoofer. This was the last piece needed to be completely rid of the factory garbage. Plenty of settings to tweak for fine tuning and getting the sound I was after. I usually listen to content from my phone so the Apple CarPlay makes that whole process seamless. Not much else to say.....very happy with the purchase. A bonus is that the chassis construction takes up less space than most double DIN units which happened to make for an easier install in my application ('13 Mustang).

Great unit. Lots of features and crisp sound. Unit mic works great for calls. Couple of things to be aware of (2006 Tacoma, btw): - You need to connect parking break wire to bus next to fuse box or "Settings" will not be accessible. - Fit on Metra kit is okay, but not great. - Be careful not to over tighten bolts. Plastic will deform. Hard to know the sweet spot - I discovered I over did it.

Installed this radio in my 2003 WRX. It works well, most of the time. Sometimes, when I'll start my car, the screen will be blacked out, and won't come on for a few minutes, or I'll have to turn my car off and start it again for it to turn back on. Also, when driving, it sometimes blacks out, and restarts. Pretty sure I installed it correctly, as I purchased the ready harness, so it was a simple plug and play. Other than that issue, it does everything I need it to do. I used it with my stock speakers for a week, and then upgraded to Infinity Kappas. They sound great, but really need to learn how to fine tune them correctly.

Great head unit, lots of great features and easy to expand. This unit boasts a second zone, meaning if you have a large vehicle, you can set the rear up for a video source and still run music in he front. Compatible with external DVD player as well, awesome. While this is a double din unit, it only uses up a single din space behind the dash, so my only wish was that alpine would have used that space to bump up the amplification.

Pros: Connectivity, expandibility, sound

Cons: Mediocre power, interface is a little clumsy

as an professional installer and avid car audio consumer. I'm very impressed with this unit overall. the sound quality (tuning features, 4 volt preouts, and alpine tuneit app use), add one like hdmi input and output, CarPlay, android auto, etc. perfect for those who use their mobile devices allot and like a seamless hands free unit. I also paired it with a KAC-001 on my truck and love the fact I no longer have switches on my dash for my 12v accessories. highly recommend.

Pros: bluetooth audio and calling (built in mic on front of unit of font want to mount separate mic), CarPlay, android auto, dual EQ, 4 volt preouts, hdmi in and out, KAC-001 add on ability, sound quality solid.

Cons: nothing honestly. was the unit I been looking for.

A piece of crap. Glitchiest hunk of software and hardware I've ever bought. If this is the QA standards of Alpine, I'd never buy anything with that name on it. I installed this into my 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU along with an idatalink maestro. The features of this radio are great. I love the option to add a Siriusxm tuner. The radio/maestro setup connects directly to the OBD2 port on my vehicle, which allows me to view my vehicles system temperatures, system information, tire pressure, etc. The radio/maestro setup also allows me to retain factory steering wheel controls. CarPlay can be a little buggy and laggy, but the overall experience is not bad. Be mindful of the fact that this unit is mech-less (no disc player). Overall, solid product from a solid company.

I love this unit in my 2015 RAM 1500. Everything works well so far, it has so many features & adjustments that I haven't tried them all yet, but sounds great! The factory backup camera works great on the larger screen, the factory unit was only 5". One feature it doesn't have is the ability to play playlist on my USB drive, however it does have a nice shuffle function with different options. I wanted to use my existing USB connection in my seat console & it suggested an iDatalink Media Hub Adapter Item #794USBRAM, however it states that Android Auto won't work thru it, which is true. So I ended up disconnecting it & adding a BATIGE USB 3.0 & HDMI to HDMI + USB3.0 AUX Extension Dash Panel Waterproof Car Flush Mount Cable & mounted it in the dash. It also has an HDMI jack as well as a USB jack & I plugged both into the iLX-207 for future use. I have my USB drive plugged into it & if I need to use my phone with Android Auto to access Google maps I can remove the drive & plug the phone into it & it works fine. Vehicle info still appears on the screen like the factory radio.

Pros: Too many to mention!

Cons: Can't use factory USB for Android Auto, will not play playlists.

Great radio... with a few caveats

2004 GMC Sierra 1500

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I installed this radio in a 2004 GMC Sierra that originally had the factory Bose system, satellite radio, and steering wheel controls. Unfortunately the system didn't have an aux input so I couldn't use my phone at all. I picked this radio because it had Android Auto support, satellite radio support, a backup camera (included) and could take advantage of the steering wheel controls. Of course you have to purchase the steering wheel adapter and a satellite receiver to take advantage of these features. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing the wiring harness already assembled by Crutchfield. It makes the installation so much easier. I think I would only recommend this radio if I was using all of the features listed above (sat, Android, SWC, camera). Together it makes this an amazing system. The front facing hot sync buttons allow effortless switching between the navigation (from phone) and the music. The SWC allow me to control most all features without removing my hands. Android Auto allows me to receive and respond to text messages and answer calls with minimal distraction. Note that you will not hear email notifications on your phone while in Android Auto mode however. This is a bit of a bummer for me because of work, but is meant to be a safety feature so I understand. Great!!!

Pros: Supports Android Auto, Satellite radio, Steering wheel controls, backup camera, voice control through Android Auto

Cons: Android Auto can occasionally be flaky getting it to recognize the phone. Restarting the phone corrects this problem.

I installed an Alpine iLX-207 in my 2008 Porsche Cayman and used it for a few weeks, and thought it was a very nice head unit. Then a Black Friday email showed up with some Kenwoods on sale, and I started thinking. And comparing. And deciding. Ultimately I sent the Alpine back and got a Kenwood DNX693S instead. Still, I really liked the iLX-207. It has a great touchscreen, and many important features - Apple Car Play and Android Auto chief among them. The sound is good, with some EQ options that help, and overall operation is nice and logical. But it has only one USB input, and no SD card slot. So if you're using the USB connection for phone integration, there is no way to access a personal music library while following Google Maps. For many people, this won't be an issue. If you stream all your music or just listen to the radio, you're fine. But for me, it was a deal breaker. I have found the Kenwood overcomes these shortcomings, and so far seems to be a better fit for me (I will review this unit at some point soon).

I replaced the 8.4 uConnect in my RAM with this to get Android Auto and Carplay as well as a better source signal. I already had the Mopar Kicker Replacement speaker package (Custom KS series with OEM connectors) and this deck, in conjunction with the Alpine Power Pack, really makes them come alive after some quick tuning. I also have 2 older 12" Cerwin Vegas in a vented FoxBox and the DSP in the unit actually has enough flexibility to get rid of the bad response peaks due to the nature of box/cab. That being said I did need to either purchase, create, or custom order a number of adapters to get a clean install. Using the iDatalink hardware made retaining all my stock options simple, however, you will need a custom GT5-1S adapter to use a Stock GPS antenna (In my case from Fakra K) and you cannot use some stock USB ports (True in the case of the RAM) if you want reliable Android Auto connectivity. Replacing my 12v socket with a USB/HDMI combo port solved that issue and kept everything clean. My only real gripe with the unit is the rear camera input seems to be pretty noise sensitive so you'll want to make sure you're using a good camera or installing a power filter for your OE camera if retaining.

Pros: DSP is pretty good for being inbuilt to the deck Carplay/Android Auto dedicated buttons (NAV/Audio) work great Boots up fairly quickly Good Screen Quality

Cons: GT5-1S GPS Antenna Connector Has connection pigtails for everything Only 1 USB DSP control requires installing a companion cell phone app

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed in 2013 Mustang convertible. - Very good screen for a convertible. The expected washout is maybe half of what other radios have. I can now see and control radio in bright sun. - If you don't plug phone into USB (to get Android Auto), it seems to take a bit to get Pandora streaming thru bluetooth. When I get into my car, in garage, I am on fringe of my home WIFI. That means bluetooth Pandora will not start. The radio gets confused for a bit then as I drive away it gives up and goes into Pandora Offline mode. I don't know what it takes to for radio to revert to Pandora live, but it certainly does not happen within the first 5 or so minutes each day. - Steering wheel volume up bottom seems to change radio channel; sometimes. - I really wish this had auto volume control so volume lowers as car speed slows. I don't like radio blasting at a stop light but need the higher volume to overcome road noise at higher speeds. - I have come to prefer the Garmin type GPS functionality built into radio. Google maps is excellent when planning a trip or seeing the line colors indicating traffic problems, but I don't like to always plug phone in. - Android Auto is excellent, when plugged in and system settles down. After I use the car, with phone plugged in, the next time I get into car, it does not auto revert back to bluetooth pandora. I have to hit a few buttons. - I need a week or so to read thru the manual to figure out what a swipe does, how to switch between

Pros: - Very compact. The radio "box" behind the screen is very small thus an easy fit. - Screen works well in my convertible, with top down. - Plenty of power to drive my existing OEM amp/speakers.

Cons: - WAY too many screen icons & buttons. Not driving friendly. I have not figured out how to speak to it, maybe that works but my last car insisted I learn their language; that is not practical. - No auto-volume control so when car slows down, the volume stays at higher level. - I really need a volume knob. Finding the small button to lower volume is a hassle. - I don't like the bluetooth pandora connectivity. Might be more of phone problem but its not consistent.

Just what I needed. I installed this in a 2012 ram that had a Nav unit that was not updatable. Now I have CarPlay and Siri actually understands what I say. All features work as described and the audio quality has improved.

Pros: CarPlay HD radio Hands free Gauges

Cons: Bluetooth does not seem to show album art. Can't change tone while in CarPlay.

Sounds great, user interface not overly intuitive

I sprung for the iLX-207 as I needed a new stereo, I've been buying Alpine receivers for my cars from Crutchfield for 15 years, and the model I really wanted, the Alpine INE-W977HD was listed as backordered until April 2018. (Incidentally, as of this review, that model is already back in stock, I guess I should have waited). The interface on the ILX-207 looks sharp, but performance seems slow. Especially when switching between "Android Auto" and the native Alpine interface. Given some functionality resides on the phone, vs the receiver, the transition between the two is not very smooth, nor intuitive. Access to Android sources cannot be set right alongside built-in sources, so there's always an extra step to switch modes before accessing your phone's functionality. And though this is an Android issue vs an Alpine issue, but the navigation capability through Google Maps is significantly restricted compared to nav through my other vehicle's native Alpine navigation. Alpine navigation was much easier to search, enter addresses, and adjust routes during a trip, this capability is not easily accomplished through the Android interface. On the positive side, however, being able to use voice commands to listen to set initial navigation destinations is handy. Google voice capability does also allow additional access to smartphone capabilities, but I'm sure that functionality would be available to any Android Auto receiver, not unique to this one.

Pros: System sounds great with my factory (Bose) amp and speakers, and utilizing voice commands makes some Android Auto tasks easier

Cons: User interface is not intuitive, switching between the native Alpine sources and Android sources requires extra steps, and once paired with Android Auto, the Alpine Bluetooth sources (local music streaming and Pandora) no longer work, you must use an Android Auto app for playback, again making the user experience somewhat confusing. If I didn't need the nav off my smartphone, I probably wouldn't use Android Auto at all, not much additional benefit to me.

Alpine iLX-207 was what made the Alpine sale.

The Alpine iLX-207 was the right solution for my car and driving. The Smart Car 453 KIT-W997SMTB radio wiring harness was plug-and-play also the Alpine HCE-C252RD was just a cable, camera to head unit no taps or reverse light run. Green speed wire crimped to head unit speed wire was the last step. Not sure is was needed because it seems like driving the car some minimum distance is required to release safety settings. No, parking brake wiring tap was needed. Looked at the Alpine Kit W997 Smt Installation Kit Black (Smart Fortwo/Forfour (BR453) for a year and Alpine iLX-207 was what made the Alpine sale. The iLX-207 was exactly the head unit that I wanted without extras I don't need like DVD player or navigation built-in. Family is both Android and iPhone so this was the unit. Also HD RadioT and SiriusXMT Satellite Radio made this the unit for me over the iLX-107.

Pros: iLX-207 has a custom fit for Smart Car 453 (Single DIN) HD RadioT tuner and SiriusXMT Satellite Radio Ready No DVD player if don't need it (Add

Cons: Only one rear USB connection (Front connection would have been nice)

I've used the ilx-207 for about a month. Crutchfield was excellent at shipping and customer support. Sound quality is excellent. Hd radio is a big plus if you like fm/am radio. Very clear, lots of station and no monthly fee. Hdmi input and output is a versatile feature. I hope to get a casting dongle installed at some point. Only has one USB which is connected to my iPhone. If you have your own music copy it to your iPhone for Music app. Pandora works great over CarPlay. No crashes or reboots at all. With apple's iOS 11 update apple maps is much better. Not missing google maps as much. Built in microphone works really well after tech support helped me set it up. Phone and texting are hands free. Just say hi Siri to make phone calls and such. The only thing I would prefer is if he radio was an app integrated into the CarPlay user interface. CarPlay lets you access apple apps but any alpine specific apps like hd radio, hdmi, aux is a different user interface. Not a big deal but user interface would be better if it was uniform and everything on one UI. Otherwise, I love this unit. The more I use it the more I appreciate how good it is. I used PAC to use steering wheel control.

Pros: Great SQ, apple CarPlay works very well. Apple maps is much better with iOS 11 update on the iphone.

Cons: None

It does everything it says it can, if you have the right harnesses and accessories. Great head unit especially for price.

Pros: Single din in back for excessive wiring storage. Does everything it says and more. It's an alpine!

Cons: No disc player but who uses those anymore.

Was going to go buy a new truck because I really like all the tech in my wife's new car. After test driving a few new trucks, I decided that I didn't really like a lot of the options available especially for the price point and what they wanted to give me for my truck. So I decided to update my truck with this deck, speakers and a back up camera. Very easy to install, option for a plug and play amp and I'd recommend the Alpine Backup Camera instead of the cheaper ones and you'd be really happy. Now my 10 year old truck is as good as new and I like this deck much better than the premium set up in my wife's new car.

Pros: Lots of features, bright screen, audible system picks up well, works well with smart phones and very easy to set up.

Cons: None.

Nice unit. Android Auto works good, I especially like how Google Maps works through the unit, much better than Navigation units i've tried in the past. Backup Camera view is very clear. Easy to install, single Din body has lots of room. HD Radio sounds Great. Every thing works perfectly, as it should.

Pros: Android Auto. HD Radio

Cons: None

Let me start off by saying this is a fantastic unit. Sound Quality is very good, too many settings to mention. Android Auto works well. My only gripe with it is the navigation voice is just a little bit on the loud side. You can get past this by turning the source volume of Bluetooth music up a little bit to compensate. The display is very nice to work with. It responds well, and is not sluggish at all. You can change the button color, but the choices you get are a little disappointing. Coming from alpines CDE-W265BT I miss being able to set literally whatever color I want. Hopefully a software update can fix this. With my W265, I had my amp set just right in terms of gain adjustments. On this unit I had to turn the gain almost all the way up. I am not so sure that the pre out voltage is 4 volts. I remember seeing the pre out voltage being 2 volts when this unit was announced at CES. I am thinking they are actually 2 volt preouts. Kind of a let down to me, but I made it work. IF YOU WANT TO SAVE A BIT OF MONEY, I found out my Maestro SW steering wheel module actually works with this unit. I used it with my W265, and I figured I would plug it in before I took it out and it actually ended up working for me in my 08 Taurus. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work in other vehicles so if you want your steering wheel controls, but don't need the extra junk of gauges and what not, the Maestro SW should work. When flashing it, just flash over the data for the Alpine CDE

Pros: Display is nice to work with Good sound quality when set up correctly Android Auto

Cons: Disappointing choice of color choices for buttons compared to the CDE-W265BT Pretty sure preout voltage is 2v not 4v. Unless my sub woofer pre out is not working right. The front and rear preouts seemed the same compared to the CDE-W265BT, but the sub out was significantly quieter until I messed with the gain on the amp.

Wired Carplay and Android Auto In High Quality Unit

Charles A from Short Hills, NJ on 9/7/2017

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Alpine has this and the ilx-107 introduced in 2017 to cover different consumer preferences with very similar prices, with the ilx-107 providing wireless Carplay and the ilx-207 covering *wired* Carplay and Android Auto. The ilx-207 also has HD radio and SiriusXM tuner input support -- but again not wireless Carplay. However, the ilx-207 still has Bluetooth allowing for example phone-in-pocket Pandora. The ilx-207 screens have a finished and richly colored and tailorable look to them. (In odd contrast, the ilx-107 is basically black and white). There's a full featured AM/FM radio, with HD radio and multiple inputs coming through on a single tuning station. The connected ilx-207 is snappy in response as would be expected with a wired connection. Sound, with Alpine detailed tuning and connected to a Rockford Fosgate amp and quality speakers including subwoofer, is absolutely phenomenal. Installation and cooling are assisted by the single din form factor in back. GPS programs such as Apple Maps get an assist from a GPS antenna installed (for most, on the dash). One must also find a place to house the USB plug. In my car (a Suzuki Kizashi 2010), an adapter was available to input into the ilx-207's back in order to pipe the signal through the stock USB port in the dash (see picture). Highly recommended. I have the ilx-107 in another car and although both are great I prefer this model.

Pros: Beautiful rich and customizable appearance; well-placed and nicely tactile controls; wired Carplay using USB plug; Android Auto as alternative for the USB plug; eas(ier) installation; assisted GPS; Bluetooth for those needing to keep phone in pocket; outstanding audio; excellent compatibility with stock premium sound system; SiriusXM ready and available 3.5 mm input (if you need them).

Cons: The back and forth with the Bluetooth audio and the wired Carplay is not as elegant as one might expect. If you connect the wired Carplay and turn off the car, the Bluetooth does not automatically connect the phone to the unit for wireless phone-in-the-pocket until you connect up (requiring a few extra icon presses).

eh, Not worth the money. Should have stuck with my go to excelon products. But, paying that kind of money for a deck is getting old with the older I get. Tried a happy medium and I should have known better

Pros: Still having buyers remorse.

Cons: Limited deck, I should have researched more and just saved up for what I wanted, no phone=no gps, picky about any file on a USB drive and it absolutely will not let me change the opening screen, hopefully a firmware will fix this, no calibration for the touchscreen and I press one thing it does another, touch is clunky and slow.....oh well it's installed:(

Disappointing Alpine iLX-207

Very disappointed in this product. I waited months for this head unit to come out on the understanding that, like the iLX-107, it would have wireless connectivity for Apple Car Play and that's not the case. You can run music off your iPhone via Bluetooth, but not Car Play. In addition, the volume control is a hard button that doesn't work well for a quick change in volume.

Pros: Alpine is always good quality.

Cons: No wireless Car Play.

iLX-207 Android Auto Use review

Brett from Fargo, ND on 8/21/2017

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The head unit itself is of good build quality, things don't wiggle that shouldn't wiggle etc. Buttons feel solid. . To plug things into the head unit you'll have a lot of adapter cables. IE a proprietary harness to the RCA outs, proprietary harness to get the mic in, the steering wheel control adapter in, etc. It does add some bulk to the overall installation right behind the unit. The Alpine unit will need the parking brake sensor terminated effectively to access more settings. The UI seemed to be pretty snappy and not buggy. I didn't have any crashes or pauses. AA seemed to miss a few voice commands and notifications for messages via Google's Messages app. But I think that's more AA/road noise than anything. Pretty substantial settings menu. The LED colors for the music/gps buttons on either end can be changed color to about 10 colors. I set mine as amber to match my Xterra's interior. Head unit was EQ'd via Alpine TuneIT. Interface is a tad clunky on the app, it's not intuitive to modify a configuration, but that's more to the app than anything. Some more advanced EQ settings on the head unit that I wasn't fully understanding. But I liked how it sounded so I let it be. It seems to work well with CarPlay too, I tried it with a MacPhone and it was quick and concise. My whole setup is thus: Alpine iLX-207 Alpine KTP-445A JBL Clubs in the front/rear doors. I picked up a third party USB/AUX extension cable and terminated it into the dash and it works w

Pros: Quick, clean UI Works well with CarPlay and Android Auto Quite potent stock amp if you're not looking to do anything else Screen is pretty crisp. Comes with mic and external GPS antenna.

Cons: Potential issue for a tight dash, lots of adapter cables, but there is room above the single DIN back. Parking brake sensor must be dealt with to access settings, not just for video restrictions.
