When you're a serious truck fanatic, you're not satisfied until you've got every accessory under the sun mounted in, on, or underneath your ride. And while having lots of ways to play with your toy is nice, it can be a hassle to keep track of all the different controllers for your 12-volt extras. Alpine's KAC-001 Truck Accessory Controller saves the day by allowing you to integrate command of up to 8 different accessories through the touchscreen display of your compatible Alpine Restyle car stereo.

Alpine KAC-100 Truck Accessory Controller

The Alpine KAC-001 Truck Accessory Controller lets you control up to eight different 12-volt accessories through your compatible Alpine stereo's touchscreen; here are just a few examples.

Works with many handy add-ons

Whether your accessories are for work, play, or a bit of both, the KAC-001 makes it easy to operate them from the driver's seat. This convenient controller offers fingertip command of myriad devices, including (but not limited to):

  • Winches
  • Motorized tonneau (bed) covers
  • Powered side steps
  • Air suspensions
  • Powered truck toolbox locks
  • LED lighting
  • Headlights
  • Interior lights

Alpine even offers selectable on/off, continuous, or pulsed outputs for each device to give you optimum control and compatibility for your truck's extras. You can operate your devices safely and reduce the likelihood of potentially dangerous over- or under-powering.

Customized control

Once you've connected the KAC-001 between your devices and your Alpine stereo, you'll be able to pull up an accessory control screen through the stereo's menu display. You can then use easy-to-identify and customizable icons for each input, and label them as you see fit. You'll be showing off your truck's newest attractions in no time. Metal construction ensures the KAC-001 will withstand long-term use.

Q
I already have switched wired to relays for my accessories, is there a way to retain them as a 'failsafe' should the headunit lose power? Thanks in advance!
wesley william  Jul 12, 2023
1 answer
A
If your headunit should complete lose power (i.e., dead car battery), you will need to redo the settings for the KAC-001.
zachary  Jul 13, 2023 (Staff)
Q
I don't see newer head units in the compatibility list. Will this work with iLX-507 or i409-WRA-JK?
shannon  May 18, 2023
1 answer
A
Thank for your question, Shannon. This will work with the 409 WRA-JK and will also work with the newer iLX-507 as long as it has the newest firmware installed (5.0.000FW).

Q
Is that compatible with Alpine ilx-650?
crmcguire  Nov 07, 2022
1 answer
A
Greetings CRMcguire, and thank you for your question. Unfortunately no. The list of current Alpine stereos are on the details page. The Alpine stereo would need to have a 4 pin data port which the iLX W650 does not have. Also it needs to work in conjunction with an Idatlink Maestro interface if compatible with your vehicle. Great question.

Want to use an accessory that uses a three position switch, is it possible to wire that in to this unit, whether it is to two of the outputs? Accessory is Flex ERA 4 lights.

Once you have this installed and enabled, there are only two types of functions you have with this. Function 1 is like a regular switch on/off with single click, the other is touch and hold for on release for off. You can connect up to 8 devices to it.
steven  Aug 17, 2021
A
I just took a quick look at the product and you should be able to. I am assuming the switch they use is on-off-on, if that is the case you could just use 2 control switches on the head unit one for amber and one for the white led.

I am building a older truck 81 Chevy and would like to have the accessory control is it possible to use this with an alpine touchscreen and this to accomplish that?

I used this with an Alpine iLX 207 in my Jeep and it worked great. I personally prefer it over a bank of after market switches.
mark  Apr 27, 2021

The HU needs to be compatible with the KAC in order for it to be functional. If it is compatible, the KAC will only output low (200mah) triggers. They cannot support full loads of any kind. It is designed to use the triggered outputs of the KAC to engage external, full current relays. So if you're in an old 81' Chevy, and you're expecting the KAC to do everything, it will not. Think of it as only the triggering pulse of the circuit you are controlling, not having the ability to actually power and run that circuit. Example: You want to add a light bar. This will only be the low voltage trigger to engage a relay rated to power the light bar. Also, any configuration that you set up, completely resets when you disconnect the battery. BS!
james  Apr 26, 2021
A
I purchased the kac001 and had to return it because it requires a interface module to work and it is not available for all vehicles. The 81 chevy will be to old and it will not work. It is a shame as it adds a world of possibilities to the vehicle
david  Apr 26, 2021
Q
Do i need a meastro ads module for this to work?
salman  Dec 10, 2020
1 answer
A
No. The KAC-001 will plug directly into the Alpine radio. This module has its own wiring harness to control accessories. You will need the other module if your wanting to use factory steering wheel audio controls and the use of your factory amplifier, if present.

I don't think it's compatible with "anything" with a datalink. It is compatible with i207 and i209 alpine receivers

Q
Will accessories stay on once radio turns off? I want to install safety strobe lights for road side construction but will not be leaving the vehicle running.
mr. kevin  Dec 06, 2019
1 answer
A
You would have to leave the key in the on position with the engine off. Basically if the radio is off the accessory is of too. The only other downside is that there is no feedback to let you know if an accessory is on or off. I use it for my compressor which is on a pressure switch but sometimes I forget if I turned it on or not and it doesn't indicate either way to let you know.

Q
How long is the 8 channel output harness? Will it reach my relay bank (near the battery in the engine area)
gabriel  Feb 21, 2019

A
I had to extend the wire to get into my engine bay of my 2017 Jeep Wrangler. Once inside the engine bay I added a connection plug and then ran wire into a multi relay box I constructed. The connection plug allows me to easily remove the multi relay box without much hassle. I highly recommend these isolation connections because not all accessories require a ground out of the relay. Some require 12v.
mark  Nov 02, 2020
A
Maybe 1ft to 1.5ft long. You are going to need to run extra wire from each lead to each relay.
georgette  Feb 21, 2019
A
Unfortunately it's probably not long enough to reach that far. It might be six feet at most. I had to run an extension from inside to get to my relay bank. One important thing to be aware of is that the Accessory Controller works using a negative ground signal, not a positive. I had to have a separate relay bank to convert the negative signal to a positive one since that's what my accessory relay bank was expecting to trigger the accessories.
thomas  Feb 21, 2019
Q
I purchased a alpine ILX-107 which is compatible with this controller. I talked to Charles from tech support and he says this controller will not work with my 2006 Ford e250. He said my truck is not compatible with the I-data link. And without the Idata link I cannot use this controller. I want to use this controller to controller accessories like a light bar, emerging strobe light, fog lights and other accessories. Why can't I use this controller it has nothing to do with the idata link does it? I am really confused.

Doug, I see no reason that this shouldn't work for you. If it works with your alpine unit it should work. All it is doing is sending a single to a relay which is supplying the power to what eve you want to power up .As far as I know it should work. Good luck. Lon

It does rely on the iDatalink ADR-MRR module to work. Yes, it has the relay ports to trigger the accessories, but won't know what to do with them without the iDatalink module My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=101

I am not 100%, however I cant see why not. Alpine is amazing and all thier accessories work very well and work very well together. I know that doesnt give you a definitive yes/no - i have the x209 and it works flawlessly (and its super bad a$$).

Q
Has this been verified to work with the Alpine i109-WRA yet? I am excited to purchase both. However I am not willing to make the investment until I know they work together.
joshua  Jan 09, 2017
1 answer
A
I'm afraid the Alpine KAC-001 Truck Accessory Controller would not work with the i109-WRA receiver. The KAC-001 would only work with the following Alpine touchscreen models: INE-W967HD, X108U, X110-SLV, X110-SRA, X109-WRA and the X109D. If you have further questions, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

Q
Can this be added to i109-WRA ?
mohammed  Aug 31, 2016
1 answer
A
As far as we can tell, the Alpine KAC-001 *should* work with the Alpine i109-WRA Restyle receiver. However, Alpine doesn't list the i109-WRA as a compatible model for the KAC-001 controller. We are trying to verify that for 100% certainty for you though, and will respond back with more info as soon as we have it. Thanks! My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159

Q
Is the unit environmentally sealed?
travis  Mar 04, 2016
1 answer
A
The Alpine KAC-001 Truck Accessory Controller was manufactured and designed to go into your vehicle's dash and integrate command of up to 8 different accessories through the touchscreen display of your compatible Alpine Restyle car stereo. There aren't any environmental specifications listed in the Owner's Manual, but if you'd like to find out more information about that your best bet would be to contact Alpine directly at 800-257-4631. I hope that helps. My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=159
