About the Alpine MRV-F300

Compact powerhouse

Alpine Authorized Online Dealer

Compact powerhouse

Alpine was thinking about versatility when they built their V-Power Series MRV-F300 4-channel amplifier.

  • In 4-channel mode, it delivers 50 watts RMS to each of your car's front and rear speakers, making for some sweet sound on your drive.
  • You can also run this amp in 3-channel mode, powering a subwoofer with 150 watts RMS while driving a pair of full-range speakers with 50 watts each.
  • Or, if you need a good amp for bass, you can switch the amp to 2-channel mode and send up to 150 watts RMS each to a pair of subwoofers.

You can always find a place for this amp in your system, and Alpine made this amp so small — 40% smaller than the previous model — it can fit almost anywhere.

Thermal protection without annoying shut-downs

The MRV-F300 uses a technology called Enhanced Shutdown Performance, which rolls back the output a bit when the amp threatens to overheat from playing at its limits too long. Instead of shutting down completely, it continues playing your music, until it cools enough to return to full power.

Convenient features

High- and low-pass filters put you in command of the frequencies that reach your speakers, while a bass boost lets you apply some extra low-end punch. The amp includes preamp- and speaker-level inputs, so you can install it in almost any vehicle, even one with a factory radio. If you're using the speaker-level inputs, the amp senses an incoming signal and turns itself on, eliminating the need to run a turn-on wire back to your vehicle's receiver or fusebox. If you're a tweaker, you'll appreciate the end-piece terminal covers that can be snapped in and out without the need for any tools.

-Speakers sound much clearer and cleaner with the amp, cleaner bass, cleaner mids and highs. -Speaker level inputs was a big selling point for me. -End covers are plastic, other than that build quality seems to be very good.

Pros: Versatility easy to setup compact

Great amp!!! Plenty of power for my 4 door speakers, and great sound quality. I have Memphis MXc 6 1/2 components in the front, and Memphis MX 6 1/2's in the rear, along with 2 10" Sundown audio subs on a JL audio HD 1200/1 and an audio control EQX to tie it all together in my 2017 F250 Lariat crewcab. All of which I purchased from Crutchfield. (expect subs) always exceptional customer service and fast shipping!!!

Pros: Great amp, small, great price, and great sound quality!

Sounds just like an Alpine should. It's pushing a pair of jbl 6x9's in the back, gonna order some 6.5's for the front doors of my Grand Prix. I have an Alpine mrv-50 behind two Kicker 10". Together they sound awesome. Crutchfield was awesome as always. I've been ordering from them since I was a teenager and I just turned 50. I still have the first speakers I ordered. They don't play but they are a keepsake. Have you ever heard of AFS?

Pros: Set right, right out of the box.

Cons: Can't think of any.

This Alpine replaced an old Eclipse amp which had died. It takes up a third of the space of the old one and has the same power rating. Switching over to the Alpine was simple - the markings are easy to read and understand. And if I ever need help, the techs at Crutchfield are just a phone call away.

Pros: Nice balanced sound, free tech service available

I have a new Kenwood Marine Radio, paired with 4 Infinity 6 1/2" speakers and the sound has been terrible. There was no bass, and no middle. I was very dissapointed with the sound. I just added the Alpine MRV F300 amp using the speaker line inputs. I ran 8 AWG positive and negative wires to power the unit and it made the speakers come alive. It was never about making the system louder, just filling in the sound at lower volumes, which has worked great. Adjustments were easy to access and easy to hear. I like the unit.

Pros: Easy install, easy adjustments, great sound improvement

Don't let the compact size of this amp fool you. It PERFORMS! Crisp & clear sound, simple & straightforward installation. At this price point good luck finding a better product, and Crutchfield couldn't have been better to do business with. Now if only I could get my hands on a pair of Audiofrog GS693.

Pros: Compact size, sleek design, unbeatable price to performance ratio, makes stock speakers shine. Quick & easy to install, versatile hookup options. Seamless integration in place of factory amp. Plenty of output with easy gain adjustments. Quick delivery and proper packaging.

And let me tell you you can hear things in your speakers you never heard before in your music I hook them up to some sps-610c Alpine speakers with the tweeters on my doors, and they sound awesome! I also have them tied in with two mrv M500 that I got pumping some 15s series Alpine's it's like a concert! I definitely recommend this if you want to take out the background sound on your door speakers!

If you need a decent amount of power, as in enough power for almost every set of speakers under $600, clean sound, small footprint, this is the amp for you. This is an absolute must buy for the price point. These powered a sed of focal ps-165v2's for four years without fail. The only reason im not using this now is because i upgraded to a set of focal k2 series. So naturally I upgraded to an alpine pdr-f50. Also great! This is seriously an all around amazing amp especially for the asking price.

Pros: Small size. Good clean power. Blue light looks cool at night. Will handle moat speakers with ease. Amazing price.

Cons: None. Owned for four years. Pushed it hard nearly every single day. Still going strong.

Wow, what a difference! Just added this to my 2017 Legacy. The stock system was terrible. I put in new Infinity speakers front and back. It made the system better, but not great. The stock head unit needed help. This amp provided the punch needed. The sound is soooo good. It can be very loud and still crisp. Music sounds great again. Even talk radio is a lot better. Everything is just so clear. One of the best things about this amp is the size. It is very small. It fits easily under my front passenger seat. You can't see it. I'm very happy with this amp.

This amp is coming off a JVC double din stereo. Have infinity speakers X4. Front with the tweeters, in a 2011 silverado king cab. I can turn it up to 26 with crystal clear response just on the radio. My son built this system with a JL Audio 8" sub. For all you mature readers, I'm 56 and love to crank the old rock. These speakers are great. Clean sound, can even hear the tweeters. Hope you get the enjoyment I have out of these speakers.

Pros: Great sound for the money.

Cons: Nothing. They send the speaker holders free with the order.

I have had the MRV-F300 for around six months now it still impresses me when I turn it up , I use it for two sets of SPR-60C Alpine speakers also a great choice this amp although rated under what the speakers are still make some noise clear and loud, makes me wonder if the amp is stronger than the 50 RMS it is meant to push. The bass even hits on the 6 1/2" speakers I use it on . This amp is a good choice for those smaller in door speakers .

Pros: Small compact amp does not seem to over heat at least not yet , does not dim the lights at night

Cons: None that I have found

Douglas from Alberta on 12/28/2016

I have always preferred Alpine so when I wanted to upgrade the sound in my 97 Miata I installed my old Alpine head unit, replaced the door speakers with 6.5 Rockford fosgates (45 watts RMS) and fit some Rockford 65 watts RMS 6X9's in boxes positioned right behind the seat rests. The amp fit perfectly mounted behind the passenger seat and I velcro'd an equalizer just above the amp the knobs facing upward. For power I "stingered" 4 gauge amp wire to it and 4 gauge ground wire out. The results were outstanding. In the old days a guy would turn up the volume until it distorted, then down a little to prevent any damage....with this amp it just got louder and sound stayed clear and tight. I've got a bit of tinnitus for the first time in my life from the outstanding decibels this amp produces. I had it so loud while driving down mainstreet I lost the ability to drive actually, sensory overload I suppose. I've got to turn gains down to limit output before I go deaf. Had the top down and volume up one day and volume output reduced, I realized it was the amp responding to heat and simply protecting itself all while keeping music going. Once it cooled down regular output resumed. Efficient, low power consumption also minimizes drag on my little alternator so it's ideal. This was a perfect choice for many reasons...I would highly recommend, just take it easy on the volume. :)

Pros: Clear sound, bridgeable, low price, overheat protection, small size.

Cons: None.

Excellent Amp!

I was an audiophile in the 80's and remember Alpine to be at the top of the heap in the sound equipment arena. Things haven't changed. I installed this amp in an 04 Ford F150 S-cab, along with a a set of 4 Infinity Kappa door speakers and a new Alpine HU. I also added a Kicker 8" Hideaway subwoofer under the back seat. The sound in the truck now is simply incredible. Highs are crisp and the bass, while not overpowering, is tight, clean and filling. The Alpine amp provides plenty of power for a clean sound that will satisfy anyone moving up from a stock stereo system. I used 8 AWG wire to power the amp and 16 AWG speaker wire. This amp will give you a true 50 watts per channel and deliver it cleanly, all in a nice compact and attractive package. The blue power light on top is a nice, classy touch. This is top of the line gear; you will not be disappointed!

Pros: Clean power, low profile, attractive. Easy to hook up and mount.

Cons: Didn't get it sooner.

Absolutely what was needed for my daughters Fusion. Her stock stereo left a bit to be desired and we decided to put in an amp and new door speakers. I have used Alpine equipment since the 90's and always loved their products. We installed this amp to run a set of Rockford Fosgate Prime R152-S in the front door, and some Rockford Fosgate Prime R1525X2 in the back doors. This pairing of Alpine amp and the Fosgate speakers is a great match. I really have to praise the tech guys at Crutchfield. The Fusion we installed this in was so new that I could not find the wiring diagram anywhere. I called on a Saturday evening and they went above and beyond to find a diagram for my application. What a great company to deal with!

Pros: Small footprint, great sound and sleek design

Cons: The only real complaint I have is that the mounting 'tabs' are plastic.

Absolutely Beautiful

I had an older Infinity already installed, so it was a matter of labeling the wires and switching everything over. Easy. I have an Alpine head unit, Clarions front and back, and an Infinity mono amp pushing a 10 inch sub. My only regret is hiding this new Alpine underneath the driver seat. No one will be able to ogle the lines. Also, it would be nice if Alpine laser-etched FF, FR, etc. over the inputs, rather than looking back and forth from the manual. It would streamline the process. Otherwise, no complaints-I'm jealous of my own stereo.

Pros: Small footprint. Stunning design. Even experimenting with too much gain it didn't distort. Loud and dense and satisfying sound. Nice.

Cons: I suppose pros and audio nuts wouldn't have the same comment, but it'd be nice if the inputs were labeled FF, FR, etc.

I did not know what to expect when installing a 4 channel amplifier into my car. I have Alpine SPS 610-C's on the front and 610's in the rear, and this amp really helps these speakers sing. I can turn my volume up to the point where it hurts my ears before my music begins to distort. The amp has a very small footprint, and gets warm, but not hot. I don't have much experience with amps so I can't really compare it to another model, but I am thoroughly satisfied with my purchase.

Pros: Small, powerful, doesn't get too hot

At First They Laughed

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I'd slowly built up my car audio system with speaker components from Crutchfield but the system was lacking something. It was time to amp it up. Unboxing the Alpine unit in front of my family, they rolled their eyes and yes, there was even laughter. "What's dad doing now," joked my daughter. Then came the installation. They left me to my car and my garage and my silly ideas - so they thought. Hooked up, installed, and system tuned, it was time to take them all for a drive. They jammed, they rocked, they couldn't believe it. Who's laughing now?

Pros: Easy install, looks sharp, and allows me to set my front and rear LR speaker independently and set my crossover points on each.

Cons: More my fault...I first bought the single long audio cable and cut it into four long strands to run from the rear of my car to the front. Ditched that (messy and not enough cable) and opted for the 20-ft 9-wire which made install easy and clean.

First time running a 4 ch. and the sound over factory or aftermarket head units 18 watts rms is awesome. Hear things in favorite songs you've never heard before! Granted this is 50x4 and my speakers are 80 rms so I am coming up a little short but man you can't tell! Chose this one because of price. Picked up with a whole new system so I was trying to be frugal. Another great product from Alpine!

Pros: Size,quality, trusted brand

I have always upgraded every car stereo that I have ever owned. This amp was easy to install and also easy to tune. I have it hooked to the factory head unit in a 2015 Tacoma. The amp is pushing 4 Polk 6 1/2" and 2 Polk tweeters. I also added a 100 watt Bazooka tube. It really made a world of a difference. The truck sounds sweet. The amp easily fit under the front seat and packs quite a punch. I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros: The size, the power, and the ease of installation and tuning.

This is a great little amp from a reputable manufacturer. I installed this with no problem under my drivers side seat in my Tacoma DoubleCab. Plenty of flexibility for running different setups and easy tuning . I am using this amp to run Polk Audio DB 6 1/2 components up front and Polk Audio DB 6 1/2s in the rear. The setup rocks!!!! If you're looking at this amp just go ahead and buy it you won't regret it.

Pros: Cost, size, trusted name

Cons: not really any so far

Picked this up to pair with a Kenwood DDX392 and the stock speakers in my 2012 Tundra DC. I was looking for something that could add a little pop to my stock speakers without breaking the bank. This is everything I needed and then some. Just adding this and the HU has made my stereo sound insanely good. I can't imagine what it'll sound like with better speakers. I'm not as savvy as I was 20 years ago with car audio, so I can't go into specs and settings. If you're looking to add a little extra to your system, I would highly recommend this unit.

Pros: Small footprint Easy installation Price

This is a very nice amp, does the trick, sounds good, and was easy to install. Caution, if you use larger than 8 gauge wiring, it will not fit in the terminals so you'll need a gauge reducer which Crutchfield does not sell. Make sure you get a good quality wiring kit. Lots of companies lie about the gauge of wire they are selling so watch out. Alpine themselves do not sell a wiring kit unfortunately. When installing, use bare wires no spade connectors etc. other than with the power wire itself, where I thought you get a more solid connection since it is higher gauge. The way I used this was to hook up a set of separates for the front and use the other two channels bridged for a sub. In my case the sub was a single 4 ohm speaker (Bazooka tube) rated right at 150 watts like the amp is. I did not use the high or low pass because the head unit has this functionality. You do not want to set the crossover points on both the amp and the head unit as it could introduce distortion at the crossover frequencies. If you are looking at Crutchfield's site and thinking the price is higher than other resellers, know that there are counterfeit goods out there and also that there may be B stock or refurbished masquerading as new. Best bet is to stay with an authorized Alpine reseller such as Crutchfield.

Pros: sounds great, priced right, Crutchfield provides good tech support if you need it.

Cons: none I can think of

At the suggestion of the crutchfield rep, I paired this amp with some db571 speakers and am pleasntly supprised with the results.

Pros: Much smaller than previous generation amps, good clear sound that doesn't distort when you crank the volume, infact it gets painfully loud arount 13-17 on my pioneer head unit

Cons: Doesnt make toast

To keep it very short and sweet this amp also sounds as clean and potent as any other amp I have ever used. Fine product. Highly recommended.

Pros: Very small foot print. Way more power than expected! Nice built in x-over and gain controls.

MRV-F300 Surprisingly powerful

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

When I un-boxed this amp I'll admit that I was dubious about the power rating. Now all I can say is WOW! I have it's older brother (MRP-F300) installed in my wife's car and that amp is great (I have it running all 4 of her speakers and the sub-woofer) and her system sounds awesome! The MRV-F300 amp is almost 1/2 the size of the MRP-F300 but I thinks it's actually a bit more powerful. The power output seems to be constant over the entire frequency range. Don't shy away from the class D in the description. It is a digital amplifier and the sound is incredible. It actually overpowers my Alpine S-Type 12 inch sub (channels 3 and 4 bridged to 150w RMS) when compared to the Sony XM-1S dedicated mono sub amp that I was using before. Still tuning my system but I'm very happy with this unit and I'm sure you will be, too.

Pros: 1. Very small form factor (~8"x8"). 2. Seems to have plenty of power (even for a 12" Alpine type S sub-woofer in a sealed box). 3. Power output seems to be constant over the entire frequency range. 4. Digital amplifier = great sound

Cons: None

Small. Clean. Easy to install. Plenty of power. I've got this amp powering a set of Boston Acoustics Pro 5.5s and 6.5s. Although these speakers can handle as much as 400 watts rms, this amp does enough to get them PLENTY loud AND clean. It fits under my seat and doesn't even warm up at highly sustained volume levels. Entry level amp? I'd like to think not!

Pros: Size, more power than advertised, nice design

Product Research

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N) over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine MRV-F300 is rated as follows:

  • Power Output:
    • 4Ω: 50 watts x 4-channels (<0.08% THD+N)
    • 2Ω: 75 watts x 4-channels (<0.1% THD+N)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 81 dBA (98 dB at rated power)

Bridgeable: Both the front and rear sections of the MRV-F300 are bridgeable, so it can be used as a 4-channel, 3-channel, or 2-channel amp.

Note: When bridging the amp, Y-adapters should be used to feed identical signals the channels to be bridged together.

Speaker Level Input: A speaker level input harness is included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The 8-pin harness has inputs for front and rear speakers.

Auto Turn-on: If using the speaker level input, an automatic circuit turns the amplifier on when it senses an input signal.

Controls: The front and rear sections of the amplifier (labeled Channel 1/2 and Channel 3/4) have independent gain and crossover controls. Channel 3/4 also adds a Bass EQ switch:

  • Channel 1/2:
    • Gain: rotary dial; continuously variable from 200mV-4V using the preamp inputs or 500mV-10V using the speaker level inputs
    • Crossover Mode: three position switch; Off (full range), High Pass, or Low Pass
    • Crossover Frequency: rotary dial; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz
  • Channel 3/4:
    • Gain: rotary dial; continuously variable from 200mV-4V using the preamp inputs or 500mV-10V using the speaker level inputs
    • Crossover Mode: three position switch; Off (full range), High Pass, or Low Pass
    • Crossover Frequency: rotary dial; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz
    • Bass EQ: two position switch; On/Off; adds +12dB boost centered at 50 Hz

Connections:

  • Battery: set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • Remote: set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • GND (ground): set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • Speaker Outputs: four pair of set screw terminals; accept up to 10 gauge wire
  • Line Inputs: 2 pair of stereo RCA jacks
  • Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 8-pin harness

Note: Alpine recommends 8 gauge power and ground wire (minimum).

To my knowledge it should only be lit up if the radio is on but if completely powered down you should see nothing ! Check your settings on the radio and make sure you don't have a bypass switch to the amp on , double check wiring then try unplugging the blue white wire if all fails send back get a new one they are great amps never had a days problem with mine !

Yes that night should be off. Verify that the remote lead for your car is that wire. If it is that wire, could possibly be a bad unit. The light status on for a second or two after the car is off, due to capacitors. Not long though, it should be off if car is off.

4 gauge is what they suggest in the description. I have probably at least 5 of these over the last few years IN JEEPS, trucks golf carts etc. 8 gauge has always been plenty.

Hey Anthony! In terms of necessity, 8 awg can provide plenty of power to the amp. No need for 4 awg. If you own 4 awg already then it is possible to make it fit into the connector. You would need to strip away some of the thickness of the wire.

Yes, a good working knowledge of DC circuits. Soldering iron, or male/female terminal connectors. 20.or 18 guage. The amount of wire will be determined by where you place this unit. You may want to replace all of your speakers with high end types. This amp will really kick our some nice loud clear sound! I put it in my Porscne 968 with a Kenwood head. I could not believe the results! -Hope this was helpful!

Hey there, I've had this in my jeep with a set of polk 6x9 and a set of 6.5 round components for a few years now. I'm powering 4 Polk dxi651s and those are rated for 6-55 watts rms, you're speakers are rated for 100 rms so I would look for a higher rms output for yours, closer to 100 the better

Can I hook this up to just 2 speakers in the front? The speakers are infinity 6502ix. They are 3 ohm speakers but say they run a true 4 ohm with the speaker wire. If so, what wattage would I be putting out?

I would suggest that you could use two speakers and agree that the wire would increase the impedance. My daughter loves this amplifier and now wants a sub and additional Alpine amp. I hope you enjoy your purchase.

Q
Can I run this amp to power 2 infinity 6502ix speakers? The specs say the speakers are 3 ohm running true 4 ohm due to the speaker wire. If so, what wattage would I be running at?

Your question has a couple different parts to it. First It is unlikely that your wire is 1 ohm. It would take about 150 feet of 18ga wire to be 1 ohm. So you are probably just slightly over 3 which would put you half way between the 4 ohm power rating (50W) and 2 ohm (75W) so somewhere around 62W. That assumes unbridged. If you're planning on bridging it with 3 ohm speakers that would be equivalent to a 1.5ohm unbridged load and could cause the amp to shut down.

Q
What size fuse for the power wire would be used for this? Looks like it has 40A of draw, so anything around 40A correct?

I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: For the Alpine MRV-F300 50W x 4 Car Amplifier you will need a 40 amp fuse or larger. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.

It's this a mono block amp?

No, this is a class D 4 channel amplifier. However it can be bridged to run 2 channels to 2 woofers, or - as I have done - you can have front 2 channels @ 50 watts each and the other pair bridged to woofer. I have it hooked up to 2 6" polk 2 way door speakers, and the rear channel bridged mono to my Rockford fosgate 10" woofer. And it really ROCKS !!

This is a four channel amp (2 stereo pairs) and you can bridge either pair to get mono. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by block. I run a setup with 3 way separates on 2 of the channels and have the other two bridged to run a dual 12" sub at 4 ohms in mono. It does the trick.

No this is not a mono block amp. This amp Handles up to 300W maximum power @ 4 ohms bridged (150 x 2) Up to 75W RMS power per channel @ 2 ohms and up to 50W RMS power per channel @ 4 ohms. The mono-block version is the Alpine MRV-M500
