Compact powerhouse

Alpine makes it a little easier to get great bass in your vehicle. Their V-Power Series MRV-M1200 mono subwoofer amplifier can send up to 1,200 watts RMS to a sub, guaranteeing some truly powerful performance on your drive.

Convenient features

A low-pass filter puts you in command of the frequencies directed to your sub, while a bass boost lets you apply plenty of low-end punch. The amp includes preamp- and speaker-level inputs, so you can install it in almost any vehicle, even one with a factory radio. If you're using the speaker-level inputs, the amp senses an incoming signal and turns itself on, eliminating the need to run a turn-on wire run back to your vehicle's receiver or fusebox.

If you're a tweaker, you'll appreciate the end-piece terminal covers that can be snapped in and out without the need for any tools. And you can control the volume of your MRV-M1200 from the front seat with the included RUX-KNOB wired remote controller.

Thermal protection without annoying shut-downs

The MRV-M1200 uses a thermal management processor to roll back the output a bit when the amp threatens to overheat from playing at its limits too long. Instead of shutting down completely, it continues playing your music, until it cools enough to return to full power.

New Version of the MRP

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have had the alpine mrp-1000 for the past 9 years (went through only 2 of them with heavy use) and just upgraded to this amp and could not be happier. It is basically the exact same as the mrp, but being new everything feels and sounds super clean. I am running two 12" type Rs and it is a match made in heaven.

Cons:

Great quality amp!

Angel from Southlake, TX on 4/6/2018

WOW this thing has some power to it. Came with a birth sheet rated at 1305 RMS! Running two Alpine Type R's wired down to 2 ohms and they sound great! Amp provides plenty of clean hard hitting bass and comes with remote bass knob included at no addtl charge..

Pros: Powerful and clean bass

Cons: None

Absolutely Awesome Amp

James from Atlantic City, NJ on 5/12/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have this amp hooked up to a single Alpine Type R SWR-12D4 wired to 2 Ohms. This amp is absolutely insane. This replaced a Kenwood 9106D 1000watt RMS x 2 Ohms that blew I'm a single week. Not only is the louder but it sounds so much better, the deep bass notes especially. Eventually I will be getting a 2nd sub but honestly I really don't need it because this setup is soo loud. The birth certificate says 1311 watts RMS x 2 Ohms but I only have it pushing around 1000 watts RMS at 3/4 volume. This thing is monstrous and is a must buy. I used to have 2 of the old 1243D type X subs with 2 PDX 1.1000 amps and this is just as loud if not louder with great SQ to boot. I love Alpine and will continue using them, tried the kenwood and wish I would've just paid the extra and got the quality alpine stuff the first time. I would very highly recommend.......

Pros: Quality Sound Power Looks Stays cool Easy install Just everything

Cons: Absolutely NONE

Joseph from Frisco, TX on 1/31/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This amp is by far everything I need to power my JLW3s.. I've had other amps, but this Alpine gives them the power they need to hit super solid!! I've had many different set ups in my days.. with my current set up in My 2014 Accord Sport I'm running with a stock head unit. This amp has the signal sensing which is awesome!!!! I'm don't even have the gain is only half way up and it sounds fully powered.. I can go on and on about the amp for hours about how great the quality and for the price isn't bad at all.. if you're thinking about this amp do your self a favor and buy it!!! I'm very happy with this amp by far the best one I've had over the last 15 years!!! Thanks again Crutchfield for your advice!! You have a Customer for life!!

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works beautifully, running two Alpine SWR-10D2's off of this and they absolutely bang. Worth every penny. This unit comes with the RUX knob, so if Crutchfield offers you one for free, that is an extra one and not actually necessary for you to get. Very sleek design, fits under my back seat in a Jeep Wrangler TJ (not much space for anything).

Highest sound quality

Ed from Detroit, MI on 12/7/2016

Hello, I've used a few other class D amps in my system over the past several months on my subwoofers. They've all pretty much sounded the same. They play loud but lack weight. In other words, it sounds loud like a concert but doesn't have the quality like a good home stereo. THIS amp has the quality. The bass is tight and deep without the twang of other amps I've tried like the RF brand. I've always had excellent luck with Alpine and now my system is 100% Alpine. I could not be happier.

Pros: Sound quality, power, ease of use

Cons: None

Features

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement methods for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N) over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 allows consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers on an equal basis. Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine MRV-M1200 is rated as follows:

  • Power Output:
    • 4Ω: 600 watts x 1-channel (<1% THD+N)
    • 2Ω: 1200 watts x 1-channel (<1% THD+N)
  • Signal to Noise Ratio: 85 dBA (105 dB at rated power)

Speaker Level Input: A speaker level input harness is included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The 8-pin harness has inputs for front and rear speakers. While only two speaker inputs are necessary, wiring all four will minimize the fader's effect on the subwoofer output.

Auto Turn-on: If using the speaker level input, an automatic circuit turns the amplifier on when it senses an input signal.

Low Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a 50-400Hz variable low-pass filter with a slope of 24 dB/octave. Because this is a mono subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.

Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a variable boost (0 to +12dB) at 50 Hz.

Wired Remote: An RJ-25 jack is provided for connecting the supplied RUX-KNOB remote bass level control. The RUX-KNOB comes with a 5-meter (16') connection cable, and hardware for mounting the remote module.

Connections:

  • Battery: set screw terminal; accepts up to 4 gauge wire. A fuse holder with a 100A fuse, or a 100A circuit breaker should be installed 18" or less from the positive battery terminal.
  • Remote: set screw terminal; accepts up to 8 gauge wire
  • GND (ground): set screw terminal; accepts up to 4 gauge wire
  • Speaker Output: set screw terminals; accept up to 8 gauge wire
  • Line Inputs: 1 pair of stereo RCA jacks
  • Line Output: left and right channel RCA output jacks to daisy-chain another amplifier without having to run an additional set of cables; the output is not affected by the MRV-M1200's internal crossover (Output is rated at 4.0V Max)
  • Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 8-pin harness
  • Wired Remote: RJ-25 jack for RUX-KNOB wired remote
Note: Alpine recommends 4 gauge power and ground wire (minimum).

Other Specifications:

  • Power Requirements: 14.4 V DC (11-16V allowable)
  • Input Impedance: >10k ohms
  • THD+N (10W into 4 ohms): ≤ 0.02%
  • THD+N (10W into 2 ohms): ≤ 0.03%
  • THD+N (Rated power into 4 ohms): ≤ 0.2%
  • THD+N (Rated power into 2 ohms): ≤ 0.3%
  • Remote Level: -20 to 0dB

The head unit has to be wired to the amp but other than that you can run just the subs and bypass the rest of the speakers. I have the same setup (this amp running two subs) and it works like a charm. [ Davis  May 29, 2018 ]
I can't speak to the manufacturing design of the amp, but generally the problem with only using the single input is that the amp will only receive half the signal it's expecting so your output may be much lower than desired. It shouldn't hurt the amp any to try it, but you may have to get aggressive with the gain settings on the amp. [ AARON  May 29, 2018 ]
Are you running an aftermarket stereo? [ MICHELLE R  May 29, 2018 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Apr 27, 2018 ]  Staff
The owner's manual for the Alpine MRV-M1200 states that the minimum impedance supported is 2-ohm. If your subs are presenting a 1.8-ohm load you may want to consider an amp model with a minimum impedance down to 1-ohm instead. For more details or to discuss further, please feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat. Hope that helps! [ Larry  Jul 09, 2017 ]  Staff
We recommend using 4 gauge power & ground leads for this amp. The speaker output terminals will accept up to 8 gauge speaker wire. I hope that helps. My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Ryan [ Ryan  Jul 07, 2017 ]  Staff
Thanks for your question. Yes there is 1 channel RCA input and preout. Hope that helps. [ Kenny  Sep 23, 2016 ]  Staff
