About the Alpine PDR-M65
Alpine managed to pack more power per square inch into their PDR-M65 mono Power Density Reference amplifier than almost any other amp in its class. The PDR-M65 can put out up to 650 watts RMS, giving solid punch and definition to your bass, and it'll fit in almost any of the tiny spaces you find in many cars and trucks these days. You can adjust the amp's low-pass filter and bass boost to get just the right bass tone, and you can add the optional RUX-KNOB.2 remote bass knob to control your bass from the dash.

CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Alpine PDR-M65 is rated at 450 watts RMS x 1 channel with an 87 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CEA-2006 conditions) is 113 dB.
LED: The top mounted LED Power indicator glows blue when the amplifier is turned on and changes to red when the protection circuit is engaged.
Auto Turn-on: When using a speaker level input, the amp will turn on automatically when it senses the input signal.
Verification Certificate: The amplifier comes with a certificate that lists the RMS power output of the specific amplifier. It also lists the model number, serial number, test date, and the test conditions (14.4 volts, 2 ohms).
Hidden Controls: The amplifier's controls are hidden under a cover plate. The plate is removed by unscrewing two machine screws with the supplied 2mm Allen wrench.
Gain control: The gain setting is continuously variable from 0.2 to 4.0 volts.
Low Pass Crossover: The built-in 24 dB/octave low pass filter's crossover point is variable from 50 to 400 Hz. Because this is a subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.
Subsonic Filter: The 24 dB/octave Infrasonic Filter removes ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by most subwoofers. These frequencies do not become sound, but unnecessary oscillations which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. The filter's crossover point is variable from 8 to 40 Hz.
Bass EQ: The bass boost circuit, centered at 50 Hz, is variable from 0 dB and +12 dB.
Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side.
Power Input: Two set-screw terminals are provided for connecting the power and ground cables. The terminals accept up to 4-gauge wire (a 4-gauge wiring kit is recommended). The set screws are tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.
Remote Turn-on: The remote turn-on set screw terminal will accept up to 12-gauge wire. The set screw is tightened/loosened with the included 2mm Allen wrench.
Speaker Outputs: There are two pair of set-screw speaker output terminals; they are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect two subwoofers. The terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire and are tightened/loosened with the included 3mm Allen wrench.
Signal Input: The Alpine PDR-M65 is equipped with a pair of female RCA jack inputs. The RCA inputs will accept either speaker-level or line level signals from your car's head unit. A speaker level signal is connected to the RCA inputs using a speaker wire to RCA adapter (sold separately).
Line Level Output: The amplifier has a pair of RCA line level outputs for feeding another amplifier (4V max); it is the same signal that is input through the RCA line inputs. The amplifier's crossovers have no effect on the line level output signal.
Fuses: The amp is protected with two 35-amp ATO fuses.
Wired Remote (optional): Alpine's RUX-KNOB.2 wired remote control, sold separately, plugs into the RJ-25 Remote Bass Control terminal, giving you attenuation control of the sub(s) from anywhere in the car (0 to -20 dB).
