About the Alpine S-A60M

Big bass power from a small package
Big bass power from a small package
Alpine makes it a little easier to get great bass in your vehicle, especially if you drive a compact car. Their S-Series S-A60M mono subwoofer amplifier can deliver up to 600 watts RMS to your sub, guaranteeing some powerful bass on your drive. And Alpine made this amp so small — it's got less than an 8" by 8" footprint and it's just over 2" tall — it can fit almost anywhere.
Technology that keeps you on the air
Enhanced Shutdown Performance technology rolls back the output a bit when the amp threatens to overheat from playing at its limits too long. Instead of shutting down completely, it continues playing your music, until it cools enough to return to full power.
Convenient features
A low-pass filter and adjustable bass boost put you in command of the frequencies that reach your subs. The amp includes preamp- and speaker-level inputs, so you can install it in almost any vehicle, even one with a factory radio. If you're using the speaker-level inputs, the amp senses an incoming signal and turns itself on, eliminating the need to run a turn-on wire back to your vehicle's receiver or fuse box. An optional wired remote lets you control bass level from the driver's seat.

Features
CTA-2006 Compliant: CTA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring amplifier power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers), with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4 ohms. CTA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples).
CTA-2006 Specifications:
- Power Output: 330 watts RMS x 1
- Signal to Noise Ratio: 85 dBA (measured at 1 watt into 4Ω)
Other Specifications:
- Power Output: 600 watts RMS x 1 into 2 Ω (14.4 volts, ≤1.0% THD+N)
- Signal to Noise Ratio: 105 dB (at rated power output, into 4Ω)
- THD+N:
- at 10 watts into 4Ω: ≤0.03%
- at 10 watts into 2Ω: ≤0.05%
- at Rated Power into 4Ω: ≤0.2%
- at Rated Power into 2Ω: ≤1%
- Frequency Response:
- +0/-3 dB (1W into 4Ω): 10 Hz - 400 Hz
- +0/-1 dB (1W into 4Ω): 20 Hz - 300 Hz
Optional Remote Control: The amplifier has an RJ-25 jack for adding the optional RUX-KNOB.2 wired remote bass level control to adjust the output level. The remote has a 20dB adjustment range (-20 dB to 0 dB relative to the gain setting).
Speaker Level Input: The RCA input jacks can be used for preamp level or speaker level input signals. If connecting the source unit's speaker wire to the input jacks, use a Speaker-to-RCA adapter or splice speaker wire to an RCA plug. When using a speaker level input signal, it may not be necessary to connect a remote turn-on lead because of the amplifier's remote sensing function.
Pre-Output: A second pair of RCA jacks provides a line level output for sending a signal to another amplifier. The output matches the input signal (4 volt max), and is not affected by the amplifier's crossover.
Controls:
- Input Level: 2-position switch; Hi/Lo
- Gain: rotary control; adjustment range depends on the input level switch setting; 200mV to 4V (Lo) or 500mV to 10V (Hi)
- Frequency: rotary control for low pass crossover point; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz
- Bass EQ: rotary bass boost control; variable from 0 to +12dB, centered at 50 Hz
Connections:
- RCA Inputs: one pair of stereo RCA inputs
- RCA Outputs: one pair of stereo RCA outputs
- Speaker Outputs: one pair of set-screw terminals; the terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire; the included 2mm Allen wrench is used to tighten/loosen the set screws
- Power: set-screw terminal; accepts up to 4-gauge wire; the included 2mm Allen wrench is used to tighten/loosen the set screws
- Ground: set-screw terminal; accepts up to 4-gauge wire; the included 2mm Allen wrench is used to tighten/loosen the set screws
- Remote Turn-on: set-screw terminal; accepts up to 8-gauge wire; the included 2mm Allen wrench is used to tighten/loosen the set screws
- Remote: RJ-25 jack for the RUX-KNOB.2 remote bass level controller
- Fuses: two 30-amp ATO fuses are mounted on the side of the amp
