No heat just beat
LENNARD from BATON ROUGE, LA on 4/26/2023
Alpine is always a win, this amp will give you quality with the most bang for your buck, it pushes hard, compact size and does not heat up nearly at all. It's sleek and beautiful. I have both the 4 channel and this mono and happy I went this route. Currently have alpines bass line connected and I dare not turn the gain all the way up, for that reason I have 2 alpines s class subs on the way completing my sound system to a full alpine s class system.
Pros: Doesn't heat up, small and easy to fit into places. Clean beautiful style
Cons: Nothing not to like, price is great and quality outstanding

Solid little amp. Form factor makes it easy to fit in almost any location. Power is great, and pushes my 10" nicely. The LPF on the amp seems to give better sound than the one from the head unit. Connections are all solid with allen screws (wrench included). Packaging on the amp was really great it came in this air filled surround.
Pros: Form Factor, Power, Sound Features

Incredible small amplifier with REAL power! If you need a nice amp for your sub, thus is the amp for you. Runs very cool, never gets hot, actual rms wattage as stated, comes with dyno sheet which shows actual performance. Quit buying 4 channel amps and running them bridged, get an amp designed specifically for the job !
Pros: Compact size, runs cool, unmatched performance, you get what you pay for !

I have banged this amp w a 1200 watt rms 12" for 2 years. It is super clean. I plan on getting another and using 4 10"s to replace the 12" Best mono amp as far as distortion goes i've owned. I've had LOTS of systems in cars over the years and I've had louder but not cleaner. For the price I doubt u can do better if sound quality matters to you.

Love this head unit it does so much. Hooked it up with the alpine s-A60m and the S-A3f and it's pretty amazing sounding. I only wish I had gotten an alpine stickers or decals for display with my system. But that's on alpine not Crutchfield. It has plenty of power. I run the gain a little under half way. Buy the gain control knob and install under your dash or somewhere close. It was a pleasant surprise when hooked up to one Alpine 10D4 in a ported box. My license plate was rattling on the outside of my Mazda CX 5, not really pushing it hard.
Pros: Great value compact size and will kick you like a drunk sailor.
Cons: Not any negative things to say about it. The remote gain control is a must and should be included for a little more money.

I'm running a basic aftermarket sound system with 4 speakers and one 8" sub powered by two amps. I like to fill my bass at low volume, I decided to add a separate sub amp. The first sub amp I recently purchased from Crutchfield was fair at best, I was not impressed with the bass. After discussing my problem with Crutchfield rep, she recommended the Alpine S-A60M, it was $40.00 more so I was not expecting a whole lotta difference. I was wrong, this amp without a doubt, blew the cheaper amp away. I never do the review thing, in fact this would be my first. I had to let it be known that this relatively inexpensive Alpine S-A60M kick's some serious butt. Phenomenal sound & enough punching, rumbling bass to wake the dead ! And this is with a single 8" enclosed sub ! Couldn't be happier, thanks Crutchfield!
Pros: Bass- a- Plenty

So I'm coming back for another review of this amp. I don't know if this amp had a break in period or what? I thought about upgrading to a bigger amp. I took it back to my sound guy and he fine tuned it up with new tweaks and this amp is unbelievable. Basic set up with 2 jL audio tens with a sound ordinance box from Crutchfield and it's putting people of the car with factory radio with factory power setup (stock alternator). No back up battery or cap and it's turning heads rolling down the street. No lie!!!! I did research for months before moving on the equipment I purchased for my sound and anybody on here saying this amp is not up to par clearly don't know how to install or build your system! Alpine never disappoints!
Pros: For a budget amp you get more than you pay for. It does not disappoint if set up right! And it's nice on the eyes and don't take up room. I live in Florida and it's taking the heat as well!
Cons: Listening to negativity about the amp not being up to par. It's a monster in a small package!

I made a MAJOR mistake when installing this amp. I got lazy and installed the power / ground wires backward. It blew the fuse. Good news is...1) I put in new fuses and it works. 2) No damage to the car or me. This amp turns on when it sees a positive audio signal. So there is no need to run a 12V remote turn on lead. Which is awesome if you running in a factory car with a factory deck...looking for more thump. This Alpine Amp make my Kicker Sub really thump compared to the Pioneer. I"ll be looking for something similar when I install my SUV for the high/mids. But I'll be running RCA to the AMP then jumper leads back to the factory hook up. Only looking for 50watts RMS.

Great amp, reliable, compact size , puts out a ton of CLEAN power and the price sets it apart from its competitors! They could include the bass knob as you need to purchase additional for 25-30 bucks. Amp runs super cool, even in summer time and puts out very clean sound.
Pros: Compact size, clean power, runs cool, amp dials are very easy to use and marked clearly, price is very good compared to similar competitors, puts out 600 watts at 2 ohms or 330 at 4 ohms which is plenty!
Cons: The bass knob should be included and no subsonic filter built into amp for those who want that feature

Excellent performance and controllability
Joseph from DURHAM, NC on 10/3/2021
2002 Toyota Tundra
Excellent performance and controllability. This amp was easy to install and performs very well. When I initially purchased it, I somehow thought I'd be able to hide it in a small spot behind the dash, but it is too large for that, so I ended up putting it under the passenger front seat, which works well. The power and signal connections work well and hold the wires tightly (I'm using 4 gauge power and ground and 12 gauge speaker wire). I have the amp connected to two 2 ohm DVC Alpine 8" subs (rated 300 watts RMS each, connected to present 2 ohms to the amp) and this combination delivers solid bass performance. I have spent some time tweaking the gain, low pass frequency and 50 Hz boost. I also purchased the remote control knob (which I do recommend) and set it to about 2/3 (which might translate to 6-8 dB attenuation) for most of the tuning. This gives me some leeway either way to adjust based on the music content. For my particular sub/enclosure combination, I seem to have a resonance around 90 Hz (found using a frequency sweep), so the 50 Hz gain knob on this amp was very useful in filling in the response below this resonance. Basically, I increased the 50 Hz boost until a sweep from ~100 Hz down to the sub-audible is as flat as possible (not perfect, but better than no boost). All in all, I do recommend this amp. It is clearly a quality build, highly adjustable, and delivers solid sound.
Pros: quality build, tight connections, highly adjustable, clean sound
Cons: slightly larger than expected (this was my fault for not accurately measuring)

VERY Pleased!!
Brad from Cypress, TX on 7/17/2021
This amp wired to a single Alpine S-W12D4 is insane. It sounds like two 12's and its shockingly cheap for what you get. Sub is 4ohm DVC but wired to be 2ohm load at amp, with each voice coil at 300 watt RMS. Just installed it today and could NOT believe how great it sounds. I cant stop listening to all different genres of music to see how it sounds. I cant imagine adding another of the same sub. It would probably be too much for my taste. The one sub nearly drowns out the highs and lows. A second would definitely require mids and highs to be upgraded. I did my homework on this pairing for a couple weeks and glad I took the time to know exactly what I was getting.
Pros: Awesome clean sound quality, doesn't get very hot under load, very small amp, super easy install.
Cons: None - its amazing.

Crutchfield delivered in 2 biz days! Purchased to power the JL 8w3-4 sub (Also purchased from Crutchfield) installed in an 5th gen 4Runner OEM sub enclosure (which I added to my rig), and man, this amp kicks hard. Bumped some Posse on Broadway to really hear the bass, and now can hear the mid-lows that the 6.5" door speakers simply cannot match. Been over 20 years since last audio project and although it doesnt get as deep as say a 12", it absolutely still bumps HARD. Great price and good looking amp. I also picked up the remote knob unit for adjusting the bass, vs using the head unit interface.

I recently bought the Alpine S-A60M and it has proven to be an investment, giving me the best sound my car has ever had. I use this amp to push 2 W3 10 inch JL Audio Subs and I was rather surprised an Amp so small was so powerful. The base is cleaner than I've ever experienced. I do believe I have found my perfect match. Thanks Crutchfield for the advice and great price!

Did I get a defect?
Jerick from Maui, HI on 5/16/2021
2003 Toyota Matrix
Haven't installed it yet, and I'm not too sure if this is based on the delivery but, I received the amp with the dials angled and hitting the metal if the casing on the amp and they are really hard to turn because the dials are rubbing against the metal casing of the amp. And I'm not too sure if the "hi lo input level" switch is supposed to be deep in the amp but i cant switch it back and fourth with my fingers or nails. I'm sure the amp wouldn't get damaged because of the plastic bubble wrap stuff that's wrapped around the amp itself. Did I get a defective amp? Or did I just get what I paid for because it was a price break.
Pros: Alpine is just a great brand in general
Cons: Might have gotten a defect, if not, you get what you pay for.

Crutchfield customer from Trevose, PA on 3/23/2021

I wanted to have my system setup to be one and done such as same brand and series so that it can play along together worry and stress free. So I bought this along with the 12" Alpine S-W12D2 and a Sound Ordnance Bass Bunker... Installation was a breeze as a typical amp setup. Here is my setup... tapped my factory sub wires to a mono RCA cable and plugged it onto the amp.... switched my amp to high input.. 3rd bar on (Gain), 80Hz (LP Filter), and 0 (Bass EQ)... I also added the Alpine Remote Bass Knob for easy adjustments to match the music playing. This thing bumps! You can literally hear it down the street and the volume is only turned a quarter up. I have this in an SUV so nothing is preventing the sound coming out from the back.
Pros: Price, Sound, Performance
Cons: Nothing

I have always been a fan of Alpine products. I have 2 10' type S and an Alpine amp in the truck of my car that were purchased in the year 2000 for my uncles truck. The subs still sound better and hit harder than my buddies infinity subs. Due to this fact I will never buy anything other than Alpine audio equipment. It simply is the best. Now about these amps, I haven't used them yet as I don't have my subs yet, but they are built extremely well and come with the mounting screws and the allen key for the connections. Also included with this amp is a certificate of authentication that provides the date the amp was tested and the power it put out. I bought 2 of these amps and they are both rated at 600w x1 at 2 ohms. Each of my 2 amps tested at 851w x1 at 2 ohms! You simply can't beat Alpine for the price.
Pros: Well built, you can feel and see the quality. Comes with certification and tested 251w higher than rated!

Surpassed my expectations. My old 10" sub with integrated amp in the factory box went caput. Have to 10" subs, single coil (4 ohm) in box. These hit my back pretty darn well. Amp puts clean sounding bass through them. Amp does not tax my electrical system. Love it. I will love it even more when I replace those 10's with a single Alpine r-w10d4. I need room for groceries behind the third row seat. Stop thinking about it and pull the trigger if your ready. Some reviewers complain about the bass knob not included. That's not a con. Not everyone wants or uses the bass knob. Buy both already. Come on.

I worked my way through college as an installer. I have been lucky enough to do some higher end installations and have been featured in a magazine or two in the 1990's. Back then to get real good bass it was really about good power. Good power was good 12v wiring, a fast battery like a dry cell, a stiffening cap or three, and a class A amp. Generally we installed brands and models we knew and trusted. Back then Alpine was a bit better than average for subs, and even better than that for 4 channel applications. Those were class A and AB amps, this is my first class D amp. For the dollar it is a very good amp. For brute bass it is a value. The bass overall is not as controlled or tight as an A or AB amp. My suggestion would be a sealed box spec'd to the lower cubic footage range for your sub. This'll crisp up your bass. Get the higher gauge wire and a cap (I put in a 3 Farad). Now pound on that devil. The sealed box will allow you to slightly abuse your sub. That's my recipe, however, you are your own boss.

Fantastic Amp. Powering a 10" Memphis sub in a ported box. Highly recommend.
Pros: Small, light weight and very easy to install.
Cons: None.
