Alpine's acclaimed Type-R component systems are a heady brew of high-quality ingredients designed to deliver smooth, powerful sound in your car audio system.

The SPR-17LS component system features Alpine's Linear Drive speaker motor design for outstanding cone excursion — the key to unsurpassed dynamic range. The motors are built into non-resonant, cast-aluminum baskets which house multi-layer pulp cone woofers and durable rubber surrounds. Special wave guides ensure excellent sound radiation for ample helpings of clean, deep bass.

The highs are clear and crisp without excessive brightness, thanks to the large silk dome tweeters. Special tuned back chambers improve the efficiency of the tweeters for excellent dispersion. You can dial in just the right amount of high frequencies with the 6-step tweeter level adjustment built into the external crossover networks. Mounting hardware for flush-, surface-, or swivel-mounting the tweeters is included.

I purchased these and installed them in the front doors of my '03 Trailblazer. I have them amped at 50W RMS and all I can say is these are fabulous speakers. The base and midrange are awesome. The tweeters play incredible highs. If your looking for a great set of component speakers, look no further.

I chose the Alpine Component Set because it comes with everything you need. Crossover, tweeters, etc. Installed in a 2003 PT Cruiser, powered by the Alpine MRP-F240 amplifier, they sound awesome! My only complaint.. (and maybe it's something I don't have tuned right) ..it seems the highs are TOO high. I can't get a comfortable mix of highs, lows, and midrange. Otherwise, I highly recommend!

Nice!

Jim from Arlington Texas on 5/9/2006

Great speakers! Grade A midbass - tight and not fuzzy or distorted, first class high end - crisp and clean and totally adjustable so they are not over powering. The only weak spot is that range where you find guitar solos (my personal favorite). Recently I moved the Alpines to the back and added a pair of Infinity Kappa components to the front. The efficiency of the Kappas combined with the great mids and highs bring a perfect match together for my system.

I run a 40rmsx4 Alpine Amp and will soon add an Infinity Basslink 2. The volume I get is surprising and yet it remains clean and undistorted.

For 2006 Civic owners, the Alpines are too deep for the rear panels without a little creative installation... about 30 minutes with a dremel cutting tool and I was able to make them work perfectly... and you will never know by looking at them that there has been a modification.

The Alpines are very nice, versatile and well thought out (6 optional tweeter levels - 3 mounting options!) and only lack a bit of efficiency and have a small weak spot in the mid range. I think as a brand they are under-rated! Good stuff!

I bought these and i am perfectly satisified. Alpine is, in my opinion, is the best car stereo components you can buy. I am running two new model 12" type r subs powered by two rockford amps. Each amp maxes out each sub to its limits,500rms-1500 max. I also have two sets of these component speakers powered by the alpine amplifier made for them, the alpine mrp-f450. Did i mention that i also have an alpine head unit. The cda-9851 it is an exelent head unit w/o all the glamore of an indash tv. This almost full alpine system sounds insane. These component speakers are very good and comes with a large variety of tweeter mounts. But they dont come with spacers or brackets for a lot of different mounting applications. I personally, had to make 1 1/2" spacers because the magnet on the speakers are so big that they hit my window when i tried to close it. These speakers are well built quality components.

Just Awsome

Well all i have to say is that if you have the room to mount these, then go for them. I have 2 sets of them in my 96 grand cherokee ltd. one set for front one for rear (obviously) and a grand cherokee spare tire subwoofer by MTX and a PPI 5 Channel amp all being fed by a kenwood deck. its unbeleivable how clear these are. last night i found an aux imput to add a mp3 player to my deck. so i hooked up my psp and watched brothers grim. other then not being surround sound it was as close you will get to being in a theater.
only negative is not with the speakers but with the manufacturer. currently i have one dead tweeter out of the box, running on 3 at the moment. looks like they want me to buy a whole new set for just one tweeter. so as far as the speakers i give them a 5, as for alpine and the run around im getting by being passed back in forth to (purchase a replacement) i give them a 3 so ill go 4 on this.

Excellent Alpines

Ian from NH on 7/18/2005

I installed these speakers in the front doors of my 1994 Lexus ES 300 and the tweeters in the factory location in the sail panels and I couldn't be happier. The woofers perfectly recreate the midrange and the punchy midbass of all types of music and make my system much more forceful. The tweeters are really loud and they play really clearly, without any distortion. This component system will drastically improve the sound in your vehicle for not a lot of money. Highly reccomended.
