High tide, high volume

An afternoon out on the water is a pretty great thing already, but it's even better when you add great sound. Alpine designed their SPS-M601 marine speakers to look good, sound good, and stand up to conditions that would turn lesser speakers into paperweights.

Alpine built these speakers to handle plenty of power, so they'll cut right through the wind, waves, and motor noise to give you the high fidelity you want. The super-stiff 6-1/2" poly woofers and titanium tweeters deliver accurate reproduction with impressive high-frequency details.

These IPx5 water-resistant speakers feature sleek, UV-resistant grilles and specially treated surrounds. They're tested tough against salt, fog, and blazing sunlight, so they'll sound great for seasons to come.

Crutchfield Always Wins

Crutchfield has been my go to store for everythingcar radio. Long before the Internet, I looked forward to receiving the catalog. For me, Alpine has always made me happy. The fact they have marine speakers is awesome. The sound is great. Easy installation. Gone are the days of "figuring it out." As always, I am pleased with both the Alpine brand and the most reliable go to store!

Pros: Looks are great Sound is awesome Easy install

Cons: None yet, however, if I find any issues, I will update my review!

Good bang for the buck

Steve from Virginia on 7/31/2015

Pretty good sound for the money. The only issue is that a larger cutout is needed for this speaker than others of the same size due to the block where the wires connect. This isn't an issue on thin walls, but is a problem when installed in an overhang that is cored fiberglass over an inch thick. Also, the holes don't line up with the majority of other speakers of the same size. Just something to think about. Once over these hurdles - a roto-zip tool takes care of it - you'll be happy with these speakers.

Pros: Good sound Good appearance

Cons: Odd size holes required Not always an instant fit as a replacement for existing speakers

Alpine SPS-M601

I installed these marine grade speakers as an external replacement in my travel trailer. Easy to install, and compared to the factory junk, are absolutely outstanding. I don't crank them up like boaters do, but they sound great even at low volume.

Pros: Sound great!

Cons: None so far

More details on the Alpine SPS-M601W

Product Research

Features

Channel: A channel in the flange and the grille allow any water splashed on the front of the speaker to drain away.

Speaker Size: Because the grilles are removable, the SPS-M601 fits many car/truck applications. As the size applies to car installations, they are both 6-1/2 and 6-3/4 speakers. The 5" cutout required matches the 6-1/2 standard, but the 6.652" frame diameter is bigger than most 6-3/4 models. There are two sets of screw holes in the flange, one matching the 6-3/4 standard, the other a symmetrical four hole 6-1/2 pattern. If these speakers are to be installed in a car or truck, please enter your vehicle information to confirm fit. (If installed in a 6-1/2 application, it is likely that new screw holes will need to be drilled in the vehicle.)
