Worthy materials

Alpine's carbon fiber-reinforced plastic woofer cones provide next-level sturdiness but are also agile enough to handle the complexities of the midrange. The big multi-roll rubber surround contributes to reduced distortion for a cleaner sound. Separate silk dome tweeters provide all the precise details that bring out the character of the instruments and vocals. If you've never experienced Alpine sound quality, these speakers are a great place to start.

Grilles are not included; the factory grilles should be suitable for most applications. Optional grilles are available for custom installations.

Features

Woofer Mounting: Without an adapter, the woofers fit standard 6-3/4" applications. Given their required cutout, they will also fit standard 6-1/2" applications without an adapter, but new screw holes must be drilled. Using the included adapter brackets they can be mounted in a variety of standard 3-hole 6-1/2" applications, Ford 4-hole 6-1/2" applications, and non-standard 6-3/4" applications, without any modification.

Tweeter Mounting Options: The tweeters can be flush mounted using the supplied flush mount brackets and rings. Once mounted, the tweeters can swivel approximately 20° for optimum imaging. The tweeters can also be mounted in factory tweeter locations behind factory tweeter grilles using the supplied stealth mounting brackets. (The stealth brackets have a multitude of tabs used for different mounting configurations. When not needed, the tabs can easily be removed. The factory location measurements in the chart below are generally minimums, with some tabs removed.)

Flush Mount (swivel) Factory Location (bottom mount) Factory Location (top mount) Surface Mount (under factory grille)

Mounting Height 0.417" 0" 0.058" 0.8"
Cutout Diameter 2.0" 1.723" 1.723" N/A

Crossovers: The Alpine S-S65C features low-pass crossovers attached to each woofer's input terminal and high-pass crossovers in-line with the tweeters' speaker wires.

Customer Q&A

Q
Crutchfield asked: Why did you buy this?
A
I hate to admit it but the weekly ad that was emailed to me is the reason. [ Stephen  May 31, 2019 ]
A
Have Alpine's SPS 610C, front and rear of 2011 Tundra Dbl Cab, which are Awesome. Crossover in one finally failed after 7 years; and is not available separately. These are the new version of same speakers. I expect them to be equal to or better than the 610C set. [ Wes  May 18, 2019 ]
A
alpine quality - even at the lower end of their systems is hard to beat - sometimes a reputation is real - sometimes companies rest on their laurels - alpine has never been the latter - never disappointed with their products - these should fit my 2015+ wrx without an issue - don't require finding a home for a crossover - and are rated for the power i plan to drive them for - can't imagine i'll be dissapointed... [ Chris  May 07, 2019 ]

i was looking for the best sound quality for the price. [ Benjamin  Apr 16, 2019 ]

Wanted front component speakers which could run off of the head without an external amp. From my research these speakers appear to meet this need. We will see. [ Craig  Nov 27, 2018 ]

Tested out speaker at Bestbuy and decided to purchase through crutchfield since it came with installation instructions. Saves $$$ [ James  Sep 25, 2018 ]

Alpine has always been a brand I've trusted I have the previous sps-410 4" speakers in my door and their sws-10d4 subs. They've been put to the test and have held up and sound great [ Hunter  May 23, 2018 ]

Will the Crossover s-series fit in my 2002 Ford F150 5.4l 4x4?
[ Paul  Apr 17, 2020 ]

A
I can't answer this. I installed mine in a 2008 Honda Civic Si. Crutchfield should know what vehicles this system fits in.

What is the OD of the surround? We need to rear mount these and need to know how big the hole needs to be to clear the surround.

Q
do you have to use the tweeters that come with these speakers?
[ jaden  Feb 13, 2020 ]

A
Hi Jaden, thank you for your question. Technically, you do not need to use the tweeters with this component set. However, if you are only interested in a midrange driver for your vehicle, we may have some better options available. For more personalized assistance and recommendations, chat with us online or by phone at 1-800-324-9695. An Advisor will be happy to discuss your setup, and give you a personalized recommendation based on your needs and application!
[ Jess  Feb 27, 2020 ]  Staff
A
No you don't have to use the tweeters. They plug into the component speaker with the supplied filter. Will work either way.
[ Amy  Feb 25, 2020 ]
A
Yes, this is a component set, which means the mid range and low level sounds will come out of the main speaker and your highs will come from the tweeter! Your sound will be dull and muddy sounding without the tweeters! My suggestion would be to find a speaker with a built in tweeter if you are limited on space.
[ Daniel  Feb 25, 2020 ]
Q
Will a stock 160w AM/FM/CD Audio system meant for 6 speakers be enough to power these? Asking for my 2007 Honda Fit Sport. 4 woofer 2 tweeters
[ Josh  Sep 06, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
It looks like these have in line crossovers for the tweeter only. Does this mean that the woofer does not require them? I'd like to put them in a mazda 6, which has a factory woofer and tweeter wired in parralel. I'd like to run them from the factory head unit.
[ Ttubrag  Jun 02, 2019 ]

A
In parallel. The main/sub has 4 connections. Input from the head or Amp and output to the tweeter. In theory, the sub could function on its own if you did not connect the tweeter.
[ JAME  Jun 10, 2019 ]
A
I ran mine from the factory head unit it worked fine . The woofer doesn't have a crossover just the tweeters. I would make sure the ohms rating for the speakers you are replacing is the same as the new ones.
[ Vince  Jun 07, 2019 ]
Q
I recently installed these in my car with an aftermarket amplifier, no matter the gain settings these distort with bass and make a rattling sound with sharp bass hits. The mid and high range sound beautiful but I'm pushing 50w rms per corner is that enough, my cutoff is at 120hz is that too low?

Q
If I bought two pairs of these speakers what would be my total impedance. Is the 4ohm impedance for the 6.5" and tweeter combined? Just trying to set the Gain.
[ John  Feb 07, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
The woofer and tweeter work together to give you a 4 ohm load. If wire two sets of these together in parallel, then you will have a 2 ohm load My Bio: https://www.crutchfield.com/bio/Paul
