Features

Channel Configuration: The SoundStream RS5.4500D is a 5-channel amp; essentially two full range 2-channel amps and one mono subwoofer amp built into one chassis. Both full range sections are bridgeable, so it can be configured as a 5-channel, 4-channel, or 3-channel amplifier.

Power Output:

  • Front and Rear Channels:
    • 4Ω: 100 watts RMS x 4-channels
    • 2Ω: 160 watts RMS x 4-channels
    • Bridged: 320 watts RMS x 2-channels into 4Ω
  • Subwoofer Channel:
    • 4Ω: 500 watts RMS x 1-channel
    • 2Ω: 750 watts RMS x 1-channel

Controls

Level Control (Gain): The input levels are independently adjustable for the front, rear, and subwoofer channels. The input range is 0.2 Volts to 6.0 Volts.

Crossover: The amp has independent crossover controls for the front, rear, and subwoofer channels. The crossover slopes are all 12 dB/octave:

  • Front:
    • Mode: two position switch; choose Full Range (crossover is bypassed) or High Pass
    • Frequency: set the crossover point when in high pass mode; rotary dial; 50 Hz-4 kHz
  • Rear:
    • Mode: choose Full Range (crossover is bypassed), High Pass, or Band Pass (both high pass and low pass filters are engaged)
    • Frequency: there are separate dials for the high pass and low pass filters
      • High Pass: rotary dial; 50-150 Hz
      • Low Pass: rotary dial; 250 Hz-4 kHz
  • Subwoofer: the low pass crossover on the subwoofer channel is always engaged
    • Frequency: set the low pass crossover point; rotary dial; 50-150 Hz

Bass Boost: The bass boost on the subwoofer channel, centered at 45 Hz, is continuously variable from 0 dB (flat) to +12 dB.

Input Selector: Set the three position input selector switch to the number of input channels used; 2-channel, 4-channel, or 5-channel.

Wired Remote: A wired subwoofer level control is included (subwoofer channel only). The remote has integrated flanges and screws are included to mount the unit under the dash. It includes a 19' cable to connect to the amplifier.

Remote Dimensions:

  • Width: 1⅝" wide (2⅝" including the mounting flanges)
  • Height: ¾"
  • Depth: 1½" (1⅞" including the knob and cable)

Connections

Power Input: The power and ground connections are set screw terminals; they will accept up to 4-gauge wire. The set screws are tightened/loosened with a Phillips head screw driver (not included).

Remote Turn-On: The remote turn-on connection is a set screw terminal; it will accept up to 8-gauge wire.

Speaker Outputs: The five pair of speaker output set-screw terminals will accept up to 8-gauge wire. The set screws are tightened/loosened with a Phillips head screw driver (not included).

Signal Input: The amplifier has three pair of RCA input jacks, front, rear and subwoofer.

Remote: The wired remote cable plugs into the RJ-25 jack (phone type) on the amp.

Customer Q&A

Q
Do i have to have a pair of RCA inputs to use each pair of channels? If i only have 2 RCA cables plugged into the Bass Input, will the Rear Speakers get signal from that? or do i need 3 line converters?
[ Al  May 02, 2022 ]
1 answer
A
I have a bunch of rcas ran. This amp has 3 front back and sub plenty. You can't sounds it for the price sounds great and lights up cool
[ Brandon  May 03, 2022 ]
Q
Will it damage this amp to only connect the sub channel until I can upgrade my other speakers?
[ Doug  Oct 04, 2021 ]
2 answers
A
I am not sure about that, sorry. I used all 5 channels. I returned this amp because the sub channel wasn't pushing my single 12" type r. Ended up getting the Audio Control LC 1.800.
[ PA  Oct 04, 2021 ]
A
Not at all.
[ SHAWN  Oct 04, 2021 ]
Q
Will this power for 6 1/2 inch speakers and 2. 12 inch subs?
[ Matt  Sep 18, 2021 ]
5 answers
A
I had mine running 2 1" inch tweeters, 4 6.5" mids and 2 12" subs.
[ Patrick  Sep 21, 2021 ]
A
This is a 6 channel amp. Front pair, rear pair and sub. It will power 2 subs, but it may not hit as hard as you want. Also if you have 2 subs to power make sure you have the correct Ohm impedance. This amp can go as low as 2 Ohms.
[ MATTHEW  Sep 19, 2021 ]
A
Yes it will power them....check the ohms of your subs 2 ohm 750 and 1 ohm 1000 on the sub channel
[ Michael  Sep 18, 2021 ]
A
Depends on the RMS requirements of your speakers. I run Infinty Reference (4) 6x9s, (2) 3.5 tweeters, and a 12in Alpine Type-R. I don't even use half of the available RMS power. It's the best of the 4 different amps I've used.
[ NELSON  Sep 18, 2021 ]
A
It will power the 6 1/2 speakers fine im running 4 door speakers at 100ish watts rms and one 10 inch shallow sub at 500rms it may power your two 12's depending on how many watts they need also need to pay attention to how many ohms they are and how they are wired
[ Jon  Sep 18, 2021 ]
Q
If you connect just a subwoofer without speakers to a 5 Channel AMP, would this AMP still work? Or would you need to have speakers installed in order for the subwoofer to get a signal?
[ Jonathan  Sep 12, 2021 ]
3 answers
A
Works is 2, 4, or 5 channel mode. Subwoofers should work off of subwoofer channel.
[ Raynor  Sep 13, 2021 ]
A
Yes it will still work using the subwoofer channel. The amplifier gets the signal from the head unit via RCA cables. So, the subwoofer channel will output the bass. But, if all you are wanting is the subwoofer, there are amps that will do just that. (a mono subwoofer amp for example or even a two channel amp that you can bridge and run in mono mode, like the rs2.1200)
[ Christopher  Sep 12, 2021 ]
A
When i had mine, i needed the 4 main channels connected (or 2 bridged) to get an output.
[ JASON  Sep 12, 2021 ]
Q
Can i Run 4 Skar speakers 2 front door and 2 rear deck each 4 ohm Max Power Handling 300watts and 150RMS each ?...also one 4 ohm Cliff Design dual voice coil sub with 1200 Max Power and 600RMS. is this amp powerful enough to boost these all 5 item ?
[ Ajay  Aug 17, 2021 ]

A
I believe it would power them all well just not to their full capacity mine is pushing two 6x9 two 6.75 two tweeters and a 10" kicker l7T10 100w rms to speakers and 500w rms to sub and im happy with how loud it is
[ Jon  Aug 18, 2021 ]
A
This amp should handle that easily and daily
[ Michael  Aug 18, 2021 ]
A
I'm running kappa 5 1/4s in the doors; 2 6x9 kappas in the rear. A kicker 10 in the truck. Thing beats hard and hasn't messed up yet. I'm super happy with it. I also have big power cap. 2-4 gauge ground a Die Hard battery and high output alternator since my car was from the 80s. Amp is a fantastic buy for the money and lights up nice and cool in the trunk.
[ Brandon  Aug 17, 2021 ]
A
That will work!
[ MATTHEW  Aug 17, 2021 ]
Q
Does the amp run at it's rated output of 100 x 4 and 500 x 1 at 4ohms?
[ Dion  Jul 05, 2021 ]
3 answers
A
Yes for a while that is. Mine unfortunately kept overheating so I'm having to send it back for warranty work. Go ohs luck on your search.
[ Patrick  Jul 06, 2021 ]
A
I'm gonna say about 80% of "rated". But even still great value.
[ MATTHEW  Jul 06, 2021 ]
A
Yes 100 watts X 4 channel @ 4ohms For the sub channel you can get 750 watts but at 2 ohms. I recommend either 1 sub that runs at 2 ohms. Or a pair of subs that can be wired to 2ohms. The 4 channel @ 4 ohms and sub channel at 2ohms works works fine as they are independent channels
[ MATTHEW  Jul 05, 2021 ]
Q
Has this amp been dyno tested ? And is it cea rated?

Q
Do you need to buy 4 rca patch cables for the speakers ?
[ Tyler  May 26, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
The amp is capable of 2, 4 or 5 channel input signal...so, 1 set of rca's is all that's required but you can use more if you have them available.
[ RONALD  May 26, 2021 ]
Q
Can this be used in a marine set up?
[ jacob  May 23, 2021 ]
2 answers
A
I use it in my MB sports B52 surf boat. It is protected from the elements for the most part, but not completely. It has worked flawlessly. Gets turned on when we hit the water and stays on all day. It is driving 3 pairs of Exile Audio cabin speakers and an Exile Audio 12" sub. I will not pay the considerable extra money for an amp that is called "marine". I've been around car/boat audio for a long time and unless it's in direct contact with water, it'll be fine.
[ Christopher  Sep 12, 2021 ]
A
This is NOT waterproof. If you are wanting a marine set up then I highly advise looking at something else.
[ Patrick  May 23, 2021 ]
Q
this amp can take high level inputs in the rca? or just low level rca from the head unit?
[ jose  Apr 20, 2021 ]
3 answers
A
I'm having issues right now with heat. The subs are cutting out then go totally out when the safety feature is tripped. I now have to purchase a separate amp just for my 12" subs. Plus this amp doesn't have a cooling fan.
[ Patrick  Jun 09, 2021 ]
A
Just RCA's. But there are plenty of inexpensive adapters out there. Awesome amp for the price. A lot of power for for your dollar.
[ MATTHEW  Apr 26, 2021 ]
A
Low level RCA only. No speaker level inputs.
[ MATTHEW  Apr 20, 2021 ]
Q
Can anyone tell me how this compares with my current amp? Pioneer GM-D9605. Will I notice a difference if I switch to the soundstream or are they about the same as far as quality sound?
[ Dennis  Mar 22, 2021 ]
1 answer
A
Both amps are great in their own ways, however the Soundstream's wattage is different than the Pioneer's wattage. Without knowing what you're powering it's hard to determine which one is best for your application. Give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 and we'll be happy to see which one works best for your set up!

Q
Will this run safely with 4 gauge wire in a 5 channel setup?
[ Dion  Mar 19, 2021 ]
6 answers
A
Yes. I used a KnuKoncepts 4ga package and it works perfectly. I've had no issues so far.
[ NELSON  Mar 20, 2021 ]
A
Yes it will be fine with 4 gauge
[ WALTER  Mar 20, 2021 ]
A
From what I understand yes. Mine is currently getting installed and as far as I know the techs are using 4 gauge.
[ Patrick  Mar 20, 2021 ]
A
Absolutly ! Just hooked it up 3/17/21. It sounds amazing! Buy it and ENJOY IT!!
[ Bill  Mar 19, 2021 ]
A
Yes 4 gage is perfect for this amp and power rating. You could use 6 gage IF your wire length is under 10 feet. Crutchfield has a good article "Amplifier wire gauge chart".
[ MATTHEW  Mar 19, 2021 ]
A
Yes it will.
[ blaine  Mar 19, 2021 ]
Q
Can I run 4 ohm door speakers and a 2 ohm sub with this?
[ Jon  Jan 23, 2021 ]
2 answers
A
Yes you can I helped my son wire his 4 - 4 ohm door speakers and a 2 ohm sub. Sounds great. Just need to tweak the settings in the head unit and amp to create the right balance.
[ Michael  Jan 23, 2021 ]
A
Yes. That is exactly what I'm doing. The impedance of the sub does not have to match the impedance of the door speakers. However, be sure to not go below 2 ohms because that is the rated limit for this amplifier.
