Media sources galore

If you love music and talk, this is your stereo. Stream your favorite music and podcasts via Bluetooth or tune in your favorite AM/FM radio stations. Slide in an all-time classic CD when you want to go old-school, or you can load up a USB drive or SD card with hits from your digital library. Use the front auxiliary input to connect a portable player, or the rear video outputs to send video to a backseat screen. And while the parking brake is engaged, you can even watch DVDs.

Expand your system

If you have a more expansive system in mind, use the full set of preamp outputs to connect an amp or powered sub. Plus, Soundstream gives you inputs to incorporate a backup cam and a dash cam for more safety when you're driving.

    Bluetooth & PhoneLink

Built-In Bluetooth 4.0: The Soundstream Reserve VR-7HB features built-in Bluetooth 4.0 with support for hands-free communication (HFP) and phonebook access (PBAP), plus wireless audio streaming (A2DP) and control (AVRCP). You can pair multiple Bluetooth-enable devices with the Soundstream receiver, but only one device can be connected and used at a time.

    • Hands-Free Communication: Thanks to support of Bluetooth's hands-free communication protocol, you'll be able to dial and receive calls from the Soundstream VR-7HB head unit. Incoming call can be simply answered from the head unit's touchscreen or you set it to automatically answering incoming phone calls. You can make calls from the head unit's touchscreen by entering the phone number directly on the receiver' on-screen numeric keypad, selecting from a list of displayed call logs (dialed/received/missed), or using your phone's transferred phonebook. The unit will display caller & contact info. You'll use the head unit's integrated mic or optional external mic (sold separately) to speak into and the other party will be heard through your vehicle's front speakers.
    • Wireless Audio Streaming: You'll also be able to wirelessly stream stored music, music apps, and other audio content from your Bluetooth-enabled source device to the Soundstream VR-7HB. In addition, you'll have playback control (Play/Pause & Previous/Next Track) from the receiver, as well as song/artist/album information display (no album art) on the VR-7HB. Advanced music browsing and album art will still need to handled from your Bluetooth source device. When there is an incoming phone call, wireless audio streaming will be paused until you end the call and then wireless audio streaming will resume.

    Notes:

    • This unit is compatible with the following Bluetooth Profiles - HFP (Hands Free Profile), PBAP (Phone Book Access Profile), A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), & AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).
    • A PIN code (0000) is required to pair your Bluetooth-enabled device with the Soundstream Reserve VR-7HB.

Android PhoneLink: The Soundstream VR-7HB includes Android PhoneLink mobile device integration through its front-panel USB port and the AutoLink app for Android OS 5.0+. PhoneLink enables screen mirroring and complete control of select Android (OS 5.0+) smartphones from the receiver's touchscreen. Your compatible Android smartphone will be mirrored to the head unit's larger LCD screen via a simple USB connection. No special cables required; simply use the cable that came with your Android device or purchase an additional cable (sold separately - see Accessories Tab) to keep in your vehicle. You'll be able to conveniently launch any application, play your own videos, and enjoy other content from your USB connected Android smartphone through the Soundstream VR-7HB. The Soundstream receiver will mirror either a vertical or horizontal image based on the content or app you are using.

    • You'll need to download the AutoLink app from the GooglePlay store and download it to your Android (OS 5.0+) smartphone.
    • Your compatible Android smartphone must remain connected to the Soundstream receiver via USB.
    • The USB connection used for the PhoneLink will also charge your connected Android smartphone with its 2A amperage rating.

    Notes:

    • PhoneLink is not guaranteed to work with all Android (OS 5.0+) smartphones and devices. It is also may not be fully compatible with all Android OS apps. PhoneLink is not compatible with Apple iOS devices.
    • The Parking Brake is not required for Android PhoneLink; please follow state laws in regards to watching video in the front of the vehicle; this is against the law in many states.

    Q
Why is the Soundstream Reserve VR-7HB DVD receiver not compatible for a 2003 hummer h2 ?
    [ Jerrome  Sep 27, 2022 ]
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Jerome, excellent question. The H2 has a factory amp, that amp can take the lower power from a more common stereo in the 15-20 watt range. Because the Soundstream VR7HB has a 40 watt RMS built in amplifier that could cause the factory amp to fail. If you are planning on bypassing that factory amplifier, there is no other fitment issues with the Hummer.

    Q
will the mirror work with a galaxy s10?
    [ roger  Aug 17, 2022 ]
    1 answer
    A
Greetings Roger, and thank you for your question. Technically yes. Mirroring into a USB can be glitchy. You need the Auto Link app on your phone and at least OS 5.0 +. Mirroring has no control on the stereo screen, and Mirroring is a feature that is locked out unless you have your vehicles parking brake engaged.

    Q
How do you truly turn it off-(radio) and can you stop the color lights from flashing?
    [ Cheryl  Jun 22, 2022 ]
    1 answer
    A
To turn the radio entirely off, press in and hold the volume knob. There is a setting in the menu for adjusting the lights, but it can be a bit tricky to access. If you purchased the radio from Crutchfield, feel free to contact our Tech Support team. They can walk you through the settings on the product and see if there may be a fix. Our toll-free Tech Support number is printed on your invoice, and is also available under the "My Orders" tab in the "My Account" section of our website. If you did not purchase the unit from Crutchfield, then you may want to contact the manufacturer.

How do I access the 10 band EQ? I only see bass and treble
    [ Dalton  Mar 06, 2022 ]

    A
I meant to say EQ not "amp"
    [ JESUS  Mar 08, 2022 ]
    A
You have to go to the main menu where you set the time and such.. near by is your eq presets including a customizeable one. there might be a short cut in the main layout but I can't remember right off the bat. But I don't think you can tweak the amp on that menu, it just lets you choose which preset you want. Hope this helps.

Hello James: I originally purchased this soundtrack car stereo because of the quality and affordability and k owing that if I needed anything from Crutchfield it would be a welcomed request. Now to answer your question, I live in the High Desert and primarily use my Spotify and it always works perfectly and the reception is normal for the radio. All in all a good low price unit. Thank you James .

In the settings button you have all the controls for the unit.. including time set. I think it looks like a gear, there are two pages so swipe side ways cuz I think it's on the second page. On settings, just go up and down the menu till you find what you're looking for (or use the up and down arrows on the side)

Yes. Once the disc is inserted you touch the "play" arrow and it should move the the menu for the movie and show a second "play" with a line under it. Touch that and it should work. Initially, you may have to go through this process a couple of times. After that, no hesitation or complications.

All though this deck is nice and puts out a lot of power I wouldn't recommend. Many others out there for similar pricing. The equalizer is only a 3 slider screen opposed to the 8 on my kenwood dx125. Soundstream cannot be fine tuned like the others resulting in poor sound quality

I have a new Samsung s20 and it mirrors my screen just fine. It's a great deck for the price. Does all I need it to and more.

I was able to get it to mirror with android 10 with an LG v35 phone. After my phone had developer access by pressing "software version" 10 times or so, under system settings. Then turn on developer options, then turn on usb debugging. Download the app correct for the vr- 7hb, I think it is autolink. I have android auto on the phone as well. When I plug in my cell phone to the vr-7hb, both apps become active. A pop up screen asks permissions for each app, even though android auto is not compatable with this vr-7hb. Hope this helps, and frequently check soundstreams website. They have updates to firmware on other head units. Go to search area on website, type in model number, go under support for that model. They already have updates for the vrn-dd7hb.

I don't believe so. This is a very basic radio.

Does it really have 45w RMS? Most high end brands max at 22w RMS. Just because they say it does doesn't mean anything. I see false specs all day as far as audio equipment is concerned.

I bought one of these and didnt pay much attention to how many watts it puts out, thought 22 like most. This thing ROCKS!! So much more power then I'm used to. Great product for the price!

Yes it also plays cd's..... Go to soundstreams website for more info. This head unit has alot of features. Crutchfield has a great price on this unit, and other head units will cost 70 to 100 more depending on future holiday sales.
