Overview

Our take on the iSimple Gateway ISFD75

Play your music through your factory radio

Your iPod or iPhone is also your music storage device, with hours of tunes you've selected. But you couldn't play those tunes in your car...until now.  Just install this iSimple Gateway ISFD75 adapter — it not only allows you to listen to all your favorite tunes through your car's speakers, it even lets you control song and playlist selections right from your radio.

The ISFD75 features an 11-foot Apple 30-pin cable for direct connection from your Apple device to your car's factory radio, allowing you to use the radio's controls to browse your Apple device by Artist, Album, Genre, and Playlist. If you have a newer iPod/iPhone device with a Lightning connector, then you will also need Apple's Lightning to 30-pin adapter. And the GateWay isn't just an iPod adapter; the ISMD75 is equipped with a right-angle male 3.5mm stereo connector and a set of female stereo RCA jacks, allowing you to connect another audio source.

Note: You will need to disconnect the Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, or Mazda factory radio's harness and plug the iSimple Gateway's vehicle harness into the back of the factory radio. Your radio must have an external satellite radio tuner or SYNC for this adapter to work; you'll retain these features in compatible vehicles. Please refer to the "Details" tab for specific information.

This product works perfect, has very good sound quality, and could be installed relativley quickly, depending on the configuration...

Pros: Great sound, just remember to test the unit prior to putting everything back together, you may need to adjust the dip switches...

Cons: Instructions are for so many applications that it can be a bit confusing.

I Should've Installed This Years Ago!

2005 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 2005 Mustang GT with Shaker 500 & 6 CD Changer. Downloaded illustrated prep instructions for my install prior to Gateway's arrival. Read and familiarized. Admittedly was the slightest bit intimidated about deconstructing the center console & dash with climate controls and other function buttons. Past do-it-yourself projects have taught me to read ALL instructions, then re-read again before diving in. A few disconnections later this project was easily completed in my garage with a phillips screwdriver, and 7mm hex driver in what seemed like such a short time it couldn't possibly work. Hooked up the battery, connected my 2nd Gen iPod Touch. Hmm, that pesky dip switch #1 issue; OK - try it again, scroll through some factory satellite settings to SAT 2 and wait-for-it; I have my tunes! PLUS Real life hack: you can fine tune the factory stereo even more using the iPod's own EQ settings in the Music Menu which is not mentioned in any of the literature about the Gateway! Scrolling text for artists and titles everything works as claimed, no skips or flaws, tight connections, completely hidden wiring and cables. Double Stick taped the Gateway under dash with the fused connector cable for easy access if ever I need it. Buy this thing! Enjoy your ride like it was meant to be.

Pros: ISimple is just that. Nice illustrated online support docs, install manual is detailed, user instructions were helpful, final results are fantastic.

Cons: Combined Install Manual / User Manual a bit confusing to decode BUT most of the answers were included in the text.

Very well made and clean install.

2005 Ford F-150
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Fitted to Ford F-150 - 2005 FX4 with 6 CD premium sound option which has factory sub. I wanted to add Ipod control. Instructions are very clear. Disconnect Battery, Route cable for ipod to glove box and connect to Gateway Connect 24 and 16 pin connectors to factory harness Connect 24 and 16 pin to radio Connect factory sub 8 pin back to radio Leave dip switches as they are ( all up ) Re-connect battery Let Isimple cycle for 3 mins No sound - hmmmmm I am the proud owner of 1st Gen i pod which would not work with the unit - no Isimples fault, but if I didn't have a newer version at home too, i probably would have assumed the Gateway was fault. Newer video ipod played sound fine, but I had no control of the ipod on the factory radio. Back to the manual that comes with the Gateway. Unplug system, move dip switch to 1 - all controls working now and sound is fantastic. Overall a pretty simple install, take your time and follow directiions. Sound is clear and rich and I like the fact that with this system, you do not have to cut/splice into an earth or constant live like some other systems i researched in your factories loom. It really is plug and play, no soldering, cutting, splicing. I give it a 4 out of 5 as I did have some head scratching, to enable radio controls to work the ipod, but eventually found the answers i needed in the manual. Don't forget to make sure everything is working before you pu

Pros: Good manual Well made / good quality connectors No cutting/splicing/soldering - plug and play. Sound is very clear, no interference or crackling

Cons: Troubleshooting section didn't help with my issue

2006 Ford Mustang
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Ordered the iSimple gateway for my 06 mustang GT... previous owner had a different one installed that was withering away by the wires so my intentions were to replace it. Very simple instructions and pretty much plug n play... I did however have to buy some zip ties. I would've given 5 stars but sometimes I can't control the music from my head unit, seems like it works sporadically, and the music seems distorted. Other than that it does exactly what it's supposed to do!

Customer Q&A

Crutchfield asked
Why did you buy this?

Needed a way to play music from our iPhone 6 to our 2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Edition. [ Cory  Jun 28, 2016 ]

3 questions already asked

It comes with a cord that plugs directly into the headphone jack. I also have an Android, and it works great with my radio. You would only use the iPod adapter if you wanted to charge it at the same time. [ JOHN M  Apr 02, 2017 ]
The ISFD75 supports audio playback, browsing controls, information display, and charging of your Apple iPod/iPhone device through your factory radio. However it doesn't indicate the max number of characters it will display through your factory radio. You may want to try contacting iSimple's Support at 866-788-4237 to find out more information on that. I hope that helps. [ Larry  Mar 23, 2016 ]  Staff
I don't have an adapter or cable to use with this iSimple item to make it lightning port (the one found on an iPhone 6) compatible. We do have a Bluetooth solution for that vehicle. Our item number for it is 249BEEBF24. [ Paul  Dec 09, 2015 ]  Staff
