About the PAC LPA-E.4 LocPro Advanced

Hook into your car's factory system
Hook into your car's factory system
One of the best ways to add an amplifier or powered subwoofer to a factory system is with a line output converter (LOC), which reduces the factory system's high-level outputs down to the preamp-level signals your aftermarket amp can handle. PAC's LPA-E.4 LocPro Advanced line output converter will work with just about any factory system, even amplified premium systems, to help you add an aftermarket amplifier in your vehicle.
Integration features
The LPA-E.4 active line output converter lets you add an amp without affecting the existing factory system — you just tap into the wires going to the full-range speakers for the LPA-E.4's inputs. Selectable load resistance and ground isolation options ensure trouble-free OEM integration. Gain control with clip lights adjust the signal level for optimum strength and fidelity. A low-pass filter and bass boost fine-tune the bass to sound its best. An included wired remote lets you control the bass level from your front seat.
For adding a sub and amp or boosting four channels
This line output converter will let you add both a subwoofer amp for bass and a 2-channel amp to power your system's front stage, for example. The 4-channel LPA-E.4 can also be used when adding a 4-channel amp to upgrade the power of your sound system. Selectable input modes allow you to retain your system's front-to-rear fade function, when using this line output converter. PAC offers vehicle-specific T-harnesses that'll greatly simplify installing this LOC in a select number of vehicles with non-amplified factory stereos.

Features
Overview: The LPA-E.4 is an active 4-channel line output converter designed for adding aftermarket amplifiers to a factory radio. The two pair of speaker level inputs are compatible with most factory stereo systems. They will accommodate up 40 volts per channel (equivalent to 400 watts at 4Ω).
Connections:
- Power: removable 4-pin Phoenix terminal
accommodates bare wire up to 12-gauge
- +12 volts: fused constant +12 volt source (neither a fuse nor a fuse holder is included)
- Ground: chassis ground
- Remote In: unit turns on when +12 volts is applied to this terminal
- Remote Out: +12 volt output when unit is on (used to turn on an amp)
- Speaker Level Inputs: removable 8-pin Phoenix terminal accommodates bare wire up to 12-gauge
- Line Outputs: two pair of stereo RCA jacks; front and rear
- Remote: RJ-14 jack for the included wired remote control
Clip Indicators: Independent LEDs for the front and rear channels indicate when the output signal is too high and is clipping, making it easy to maximize the output levels without distortion.
Controls:
- Input Mode: 2-position switch; 2-channal or 4-channel (2-channel uses only the front inputs)
- Load Select: 3-position switch; 20Ω, 60Ω, or 20kΩ; use the lower settings to simulate a speaker load if required by the factory radio
- Low Pass Filter: 2-position switch; on/off; a 250 Hz low pass filter can be engaged for the rear channel outputs
- Bass Boost: rotary dial; 0-12 dB; when the low pass filter is engaged, bass boost can be added to the rear channel outputs; centered at 45 Hz
- Gain: independent rotary dials for the front and rear outputs; -27.3 to +3.2 dB range
- Turn-on Mode: 2-position jumper
- DC Offset: turns on when it senses a DC offset voltage on the speaker level input
- Remote: turns on when +12 volts is applied to the remote in terminal
- Ground Isolation: 3-position jumper; Ground, ISO (isolated), or 200Ω; change the position in the case of ground loop noise
Wired Remote: The included wired remote controls the rear RCA output level. It's designed to be dash mounted, within reach of the driver. The mounting bracket can be used, or the remote can be custom mounted through the dash or console. The face of the mounting bracket is 1" x 1" and the remote is approximately 3" deep. If custom mounting, the hole required for the shaft is just over ¼" diameter.
Specifications:
- Maximum Input Voltage: 40 volts/400 watts at 4Ω (using the 20kΩ input impedance)
- Maximum Output Voltage: 9.5 volts RMS
- DC Offset Range: 3-7 volts

I was hesitant on purchasing an LOC, as I didn't think I needed one. I tried every other way to bypass the resistance sensor in my factory stereo and this thing fixed all my problems. Awesome product!
