About the PAC LPHGM51 LocPro Advanced T-Harness

Buck Pomerantz

Upgrade your GM-built radio

Adding an aftermarket amplifier will beef up the sound of any audio system, even when you can't replace the factory radio. PAC's LPHGM51 LocPro Advanced T-harness makes amplifier installation a lot easier by giving you access to the speaker-level output signals from your GM-built factory radio. You can use this T-harness to connect to an amplifier or signal processor with speaker-level inputs, or to a line output converter with an amp.

Provides signal for your system

PAC designed this vehicle-specific T-harness to work with their LPA LocPro Advanced line output converters, but it'll also work with almost any sound processor or line output converter, as well as most amplifiers with high-level inputs. The harness also supplies the connection wires for low-power constant 12 volts (fused for your protection), accessory power, ground, and remote turn-on leads for a system device like an active signal processor.

Note: The power and ground wires in this harness will only support a low-current accessory, like an active line output converter or digital signal processor, and should not be used to power an amplifier.

How it works

First, you unplug the radio and install the T-harness. Two T-harness plugs go into the radio, the others snap into the plugs you just took out. You're then left with the radio still completely connected to your vehicle, with the addition of a pigtail of wires to use for adding an amp.

Adding a subwoofer amplifier

The T-harness pigtail includes four speaker-level channels — eight wires — that you can use to provide the input signal for a subwoofer amp or powered sub.. The amplifier will have to get its power and ground connections separately. The factory radio will still run all the speakers.

For powering the entire system, you'll need to do some rewiring

You can add a 4-channel amplifier to your system by using all four of the T-harness's speaker-level channels for your aftermarket system's inputs. PAC has made provisions in this harness for sending your aftermarket amplifier's outputs back through the factory wiring and on to the speakers. The appropriate wire bundle has clearly marked labels showing you which wires to disconnect and where, and which wires you'll need to connect to your aftermarket amplifier's outputs.

Features

Overview: The LPHGM51 T-Harness is designed to simplify adding one of PAC's LOCPRO line output converters to your factory radio, but can also be used when adding select models of other line output converters, audio processors, and amplifiers with speaker level inputs. The harness keeps you from having to cut or modify your vehicle's original wiring, providing a direct connection at the back of the factory radio. (You will hardwire the harness to the LOC, audio processor, or amp you install.) Please enter your vehicle information to confirm compatibility.

Vehicle Compatibility: The LPHGM51 harness is compatible with factory radio systems without an outboard amplifier in select General Motors vehicles, including (but not necessarily limited to):

Customer Q&A

Q
I have a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500, I want to use this harness to run output wires to a 4 channel amp with speaker level inputs, then run wires from the amp back to the harness and send the power through the factory speaker wiring to the speakers. Is this possible with this harness?
[ JUSTIN  Apr 17, 2023 ]

A
This harness would not be compatible with your GMC Sierra. We do carry the PAC LPHGM52, which would work for your project as long as your truck does not have the Bose premium audio package. Here's a link to that harness: www.crutchfield.com/p_541LPHGM52/item.html

Hi Justin, thank you for your question. You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.

Q
Why do I have to have a converter for this to work? I'm just trying to hook up an amp for door speakers.
[ KYLE J  Mar 18, 2023 ]

A
Depending on the amplifier that you're using, it may not be necessary to use a line output converter. If your amplifier features speaker-level inputs, then it would be possible to perform the installation without an additional converter.

Q
Why wont this fit a non bose 2014 buick lacrosse?
[ Jordan  Jun 29, 2022 ]
1 answer
A
Good question. This particular T-harness is designed to work with only a couple of 2014 GM vehicles, not including the non-bose Buick Lacrosse. Unfortunately we don't have a similar T-harness available for your vehicle but PAC may be able to verify a different one that would work. Their phone number is 727-592-5991.
