Overview

Our take on the PAC RP4.2-TY11 Wiring Interface

PAC's RP4.2-TY11

PAC's RP4.2-TY11 wiring interface lets you install an aftermarket receiver into select 2003-up Toyota, Lexus, and Scion vehicles. The interface works with non-amplified systems, as well as factory JBL and JBL Synthesis amplified audio systems. You'll retain your factory steering wheel control functions and the use of the built-in 3.5 mm auxiliary audio jack. The interface includes wired outputs for navigation radio installation and a 12-volt accessory power lead for your new stereo. Warranty: 1 year.

Note: Most vehicles will require additional installation parts — please identify your vehicle if you haven’t done so. You can also call an Advisor for more information.

Wiring harness and module were easy to install, with the only hiccup being the parking break wire but thanks to customer support it went well and easy. the new radio housing was a perfect match for the factory dash.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Decided to return the Metra unit and use this instead to simplify the SWC connections on my JBL Toyota. SWC works great, but the Metra unit had better sound. I notice new clipping at moderate volumes that has me endlessly messing with the EQ. Also, the FM signal is weaker so I suspect a voltage drop to the built-in Toyota antenna amplifier - it requires 12v and is sourced by the blue wire indicated for remote power amp turn-on. I'll be pulling the unit again and testing that voltage - if it's low I'll be bypassing the TY11 and running it straight from the red ACC line. I reached out to both techs and to the sales person to ask for their experience with these 2 problems but it's been several days and no response at all which is surprising.

Pros: All-in-one interface device

Cons: sound quality, very weak documentation, decline in FM reception

It works. I noticed the steering wheel controls can be unresponsive at times. The instructions are not user friendly at all. Fortunately I found a video on YouTube that did a bit of a better job explaining how to wire the unit. Just color match the wires when you are splicing them together with your head unit's harness.

Pros: Get access to your factory steering wheel controls

Cons: can be laggy Poorly thought out instructions

A must have for steering wheel controls

Gary from Athens, TN on 8/26/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Three stars because mine didn't auto program and I had great difficulty going through the steering wheel control program setup. It took numerous attempts for it to work although some of that was probably a learning curve for me. At any rate I thought I was getting a unit that was plug a play. Also, like some others have mentioned, no luck with the firmware update. Maybe Crutchfield could start updating these units before shipping to the customer. If you are buying this harness, realize it is very generic and you may have many wires and connections that are unused.

Pros: Once you get it to work it functions flawlessly.

Cons: Unit did not auto program to steering wheel controls and manual programing took several attempts. Generic harness with many unused wires and connections you are forced to deal with.

The interface module worked flawlessly, but took a while to figure out. I ended up not using a number of wires and connections. This would be much easier to install and reduce the jumble of wires behind the radio if it were more specific to the vehicle.

Pros: Worked flawlessly

Cons: a lot of unneeded wires and connections for my vehicle

Works ok, once I bypassed the remote device 12v leads.

Crutchfield customer from Haverford, PA on 7/29/2018

2018 Toyota Tundra
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had problems with radio reception that, as of now, I've traced back to this unit. My 2005 4Runner / non-JBL has an antenna amp that requires 12v. The PAC Audio instructions say to wire the remote lead from the radio into two wires on the harness that goes into the RP4.2-TY11. The voltage coming out of the radio was 12v, but the voltage at the antenna lead was 9.5v, which was not enough power to the antenna lead to ensure proper reception. The only thing between the radio and the antenna lead is the PAC Audio unit and a wiring harness. As of now, I've bypassed the PAC Audio unit and have wired the antenna amp directly to the radio. Reception is fine again. There's apparently an MS-Windows application that can be used to configure the RP4.2-TY11 and update firmware, but I was unable to get it to work with the unit. Maybe that provides some added configuration that would have solved by problem. Don't know. Aside from that, the steering wheel functions work fine with this unit. No ding on Crutchfield's support for this. I only called them once early in the diagnostics process, and they helped me.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After disassembling my 2006 Sienna stock Nav Head unit, and looking at the PAC harness that Crutchfield sent I was reluctant that the right harness was sent. Held off and called Crutchfield technical advisor after speaking to Customer service. Was informed by both that I have the correct harness, however I had a automotive mechanic and electrician come by to assist, we are certain they did not send the proper harness (no pins to the harness line up). Ending up bypassing head unit just to get rear camera working and still have steering wheel control. After days of working on this, I give up. So frustrating and disappointing as Crutchfield has always come thru in the past.

Great module, horrible wiring harness

John from Youngsville, NC on 6/7/2018

2006 Toyota 4Runner
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The box itself works well, but (at least the Toyota version) they tried to cover too many configurations with the plug and play harnesses. This makes for a rat's nest of wires and extra connectors. I ended up having to cut the unused wire and connectors out of the harnesses to get enough room in the dash for the module. Also wish the signal input was RCA line level instead of speaker output.

Pros: Steering wheel control is responsive and like the custom programming options.

Cons: Need to make more specialized Toyota wiring harnesses to prevent clutter or having to spend time cutting out unused connectors.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'll start by saying this worked just fine, first time, including antenna power booster, steering wheel controls, etc. the instructions could use a lot of work though. There are so many potential harnesses and wires to connect to ensure compatibility with every Toyota that I had to reread the directions about 10 times. The basics (speakers, power, etc) are easy. But I ended up with one loose wire harness that was originally in my car, and probably three connectors both in my car and on this unit unused. Everything worked though, so I guess the instructions worked?

Jose from Folsom, CA on 4/18/2018

2005 Toyota Sienna
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Module gets a 5 star rating, however it did not properly sense the Parking Break on my vehicle. Crutchfield's tech service had a quick resolution for me that worked first try, but if you are not handy with car audio or car electronics you would have been left very frustrated that you paid the money for the function and it did not perform properly. I still had to spend time to run to a local auto parts store to grab some extra wire to run to make the parking brake work. All other functions for my steering wheel controls and my factory JBL amplifier and JBL sound system worked perfectly, ONCE I CONNECTED THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROL WIRE that Crutchfield FORGOT TO Connect.

Pros: 95% functional

Cons: Parking Brake sensor function did not work.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

So the other reviews of this product made me a little wary of installing it. While there are a lot of wires, it's pretty simple to install. Color code the wires out of the stereo to the appropriate wires on the interface, align the dip switches, pick the correct plug for your vehicle and your in business. I have installed stereos in my personal cars before, but this is not rocket science. It made for a quick and easy install. Anyone could install this. Took a total of about an hour from opening the box to picking my stereo light colors. Very simple to use.

Pros: Easy to use, my amp and steering wheel controls work!

Mike from Greer, SC on 1/16/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is the second one I have purchased. The first one worked intermittently after a few weeks of use. Unfortunately, I blamed the radio I installed with it at the time and since I didn't have a spare interface to troubleshoot with I had to make a best guess. Also, having limited time available to mess with car radio installations I lived with the problem past the one year warranty period. So, I finally had some time to invest in screwing around with this again and I ordered a new radio. I installed it and had the same issues. I finally called PAC and after troubleshooting we determined that the interface was bad, but would not be covered under warranty - my fault for waiting. I replaced the PAC unit and all is well, except I have a spare head unit sitting around. In short, their tech support is great - don't hesitate to call them, but my experience with the unit is 50/50 at this point. Works great if you get a working one.

Pros: Does what it says it does.

Cons: 1 st one didn't work. Difficult to troubleshoot if you don't happen to have access to a spare. Lot's of extra wires hanging around - messy installation.

As most other reviewers have indicated, this PAC is not easy to figure out. I installed this on my 04 Tundra crew cab (twice)! The first day, I wired everything as directed, but, there were two wires I wasn't sure if I used or not. It did not work . I got up the next morning, researching the PAC, reading the instructions and watching video. This gave me a better understanding of the wiring harnesses and I was able to get it all connected. The only problem is that the steering wheel controls aren't working, in the accessory position. I will see if it works when I have the engine running. This PAC allows a full range of control through the aftermarket JVC radio.

Pros: A great option for maintaining the factory amp

Cons: A lot of wiring harnesses

This unit seems overwhelming at first mostly due to the poor instructions. Starting with the aftermarket stereo speaker connections gets you started, everything after that is pretty straightforward. I also purchased this under the belief that I WOULDN'T be able to retain steering wheel control (2007 Tacoma) and was pleasantly surprised to see I could. I had to make a call to a crutchfield tech to finish installation, but they were able to get me sorted out. The knowledge held at crutchfield is why I will be a repeat customer.

Pros: Retains steering wheel controls Retains factory amplifier

Cons: Pain in the neck instructions.

Thankfully I had my harness premade or this would have been brutal. I have 6 factory connectors and 4 from the SWC that are unused and had to find room to tuck them in behind the receiver. The software had to be installed twice on my laptop and the same for the firmware. Programming was really fast to perform. Had to bypass the box to get my backup camera working. However, it was exactly what I needed to minimize the effort needed to install.

I installed this module in combination with a Pioneer AVH-291 BT in my '06 Tundra. I chose this combination with Crutchfield's recommendation to retain my SWC. The instructions are confusing, mostly because I think they are trying to cover multiple car manufacturers with one document. Once I figured it out, it was easy to install. The system worked great for about four months then the sound started to fade in and out. At first I thought it might be the deck and with Crutchfield's excellent CS I started some troubleshooting. I couldn't find any issues with the installation so they sent me a replacement deck and module. The first thing I replaced was the module. PROBLEM SOLVED! For some reason the module was causing the issue. If it happens again I might look for another alternative to this module or bypass the SWC all together, which would suck. Good luck if you purchase this product.

Pros: Retain SWC

Cons: LOTS of wires Poor instructions Malfunctioned after about four months of use.

PAC Unit Dead - Less Than A Year

Bought an aftermarket radio from Crutchfield a year and a half ago. The stereo died this past summer after less than a year. Really frustrated and prepared to trash the radio in a review, but wanted to make sure that it wasn't simply a fuse. Haven't had time to investigate and have been driving around with no radio since mid summer. My brother - in town for the holidays - offered to take a look at it for me today. Better instructions can be found on PAC audio website, but even those instructions contain generalized direction. Just matchup the wires according to function and don't over think it, you will have unused wires and connectors. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The interface worked out of the box with no modifications/programming but the instructions are useless. There is a more updated version on their website (http://pac-audio.com). Even then the instructions are incomplete/inaccurate in some cases. If you have a 03-04 4Runner without the factory nav then you need to ignore the instructions concerning the reverse and parking break sensor wires. The instructions tell you to connect the white twisted wires to the CAN High and CAN Low pins on the OBDII port. Those don't exist because the 03-04 4Runner uses the older ISO bus OBDII system, not the newer CAN system. The parking break wire is found in the fuse panel by the drivers left knee. Look to the left of the fuses and toward the bottom of the panel, you should see two light green wires (one on top of the other). The parking break wire is the one on the bottom (pin 2). The reverse sensor wire can be found in multiple locations but the one we found the easiest was under the driver side door sill. There is a junction where the wires are exposed, if you gently move the wires around you will find a red wire with a yellow stripe. That's the one. I don't know where the vehicle speed sensor wire is since our head unit didn't require it. Overall a good unit that functions well. Would be 5-stars with better instructions.

Pros: Functions out of the box with no programming required.

Cons: Terrible instructions, download an updated version from the PAC-Audio website.

Installed this in my wife's Sienna with a Pioneer AVH-1330NEX. The instructions are not horrible, but I could not find the green parking brake wire that the instructions said should be there. All other connections are there. I had to run the wire separately instead. The point of getting this was so I wouldn't have to run extra wires and splice into the car's wiring. Other than that, the steering wheel controls are retained without having to program this unit. The instructions give options to use a laptop for some settings, but you need Windows. There is no option for Mac or Linux. However, connection to a laptop was not needed.

Pros: Retain steering wheel controls. No extra setup when installed.

Cons: No parking brake wire that was listed in instructions. Need Windows laptop for "extra features".

What it does, it does perfectly - links the controls of the radio to your steering wheel controls. What it lacks are any useful instructions as to how to achieve that. Not once in the manual is there anything like an instruction to "join part A to part B". There's a diagram of what most, but by no means all of the various sockets are, but absolutely ZERO instructions as to what to do with them or the large bundle of wires that accompanies the sockets. Luckily the Crutchfield guys on the phone are brilliant at visualizing the mess in your car and can talk you through how to make it all work, but shouldn't basic instructions be a mandatory...?

Pros: Works perfectly when finally fitted.

Installed on 2003 4Runner, pioneer avic5200. The unit worked after accidentally pressing program button while inserting box behind dash. Had to reset and all was well with steering controls. My car did not have 28 pin harness plug, and could not use odb2 direct port, had to find speed, reverse wires manually. Overall good product. They need to refine the wire structure since the length creates a dashboard challenge. Also instructions can be confusing when deciding if to connect directly to car harness vs pro radio harness.. i.e. Antenna blue amp wire needs to go direct to car harness from radio, not pro adapter. Crutchfield tech support very good, if you install radio, they are worth their weight in gold, fast response even on weekends, go Crutchfield.

The interfaced worked, the new stereo works, and I can make calls from my Bluetooth phone. However, the instructions were a bit cryptic, there were two different wires of the same color that matched the wire coming from the stereo (blue w/yellow stripe), and there were several connectors coming out of the interface box that didn't connect to anything. Anytime I build something from a kit and have some pieces that look important left over, I spend a lot of time scratching my head trying to figure out what I did wrong. The comments from others about having to do a lot of research to figure out how to hook things up were right on the money. The tech support teams at both the manufacturer and at Crutchfield were great and answered emails within a day. I hooked it up yesterday and it worked great on the first try. No problem with the steering wheel controls or any of the speaker/amp connections. The only thing I would change is the instruction sheet and taking some of the ambiguity out of the wire-to wire connections. Maybe a vehicle/feature specific wire list would be helpful as this device supports a number of different Toyota and Lexus vehicles with a number of different radio installations. Some of the wires and connectors end up being unused if they support features your vehicle doesn't have which is fine but would be great if they were more clear about that in the instructions.

I found the steering wheel controls to work as advertised once I figured out how to connect them. I my case, the 3.5 mm jack connected as a remote input did the trick since my new stereo didn't have a matching blue/yellow wire. For an inexperienced installer, there would have been a lot of phone calls to figure this out. The input wires that didn't terminate into a connector should have and passed thru to the radio connector output harness so there's no ambiguity about which wires to connect.

This interface barely worked with my 2005 Prius (with factory navigation). The install instructions were spotty and hard to follow. The harness had THREE (!) blue-white wires, giving me many different permutations to try. The interface never controlled the factory amplifier correctly - it would routinely play for 10-20 seconds, cut out for a second, and repeat. Whenever I had it plugged in, it would either completely disable the factory navigation or cause it to randomly display audio volume and non-connected device banners. I sent one of these back after spending too many weekends installing it. Crutchfield exchanged it for another one, which had a differently-wired harness and more recent firmware, which didn't work either. We finally swapped it for a set of Metra interface boxes, which did work. I am happy with Crutchfield - not so much with this interface.

Easy install. Didn't bother with any of the steering wheel control customizations but all of my steering wheel buttons work as expected. I was confused about the wiring harness because it is not clear that they don't all need to be hooked up. On my 2005 Sienna with JBL, only two of the harness connections hook up to the car. There is a third small black plug coming from the car that does not get hooked up to anything.

Brad from Pleasanton, CA on 1/10/2017

2007 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The PAC RP4.2-TY11 came up as the option on Crutchfield for a 2007 Prius with JBL to retain the steering wheel controls. If you search Prius forums for 2nd generation (2004-2009) Prius installs, you will see that there have been some issues with this unit. For me, it was the intermittent cutting in and out of the signal regardless of input. The better option is using the Axxess TYTO-01 and ASWC-1 (and ASWC Harness) to avoid the issues. Crutchfield replaced the PAC with the Axxess and everything works fine now. Again, your mileage will vary. You will still need to add a resistor to get the MFD working properly with the Axxess system.

Pros: All in one solution (but you won't use all the connectors)

Cons: Instructions difficult to follow. Has issues with 2nd Generation Prius systems.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For a seemingly simple device, I found the unit to be more complex than expected. I also found the instructions to be somewhat lacking. There is basically only a wire ID chart for wiring. I realize that there are practically an infinite different set-ups which would make traditional wiring diagrams difficult. But for my set-up, it required a call to Tech support to understand the remote/amp wires and the unused NAV wires. I had to also question the unlabeled brown wire that was unidentified (different than the brown loop). It was also concerning that one of the stock connectors was left unconnected, in the final configuration. Everything worked fine. But a note about this might be helpful. Most disappointing was the Tech support I received when trying to figure out the programming and interface to the new Blaupunkt head unit. I'm an engineer, but found the programming instructions less than concise ( calibration vs re-assigning, ect and the actual steps to program). Tech support was no help with this indicating that this unit and the Blaupunkt units rarely work together, opposing what sales told me. I did eventually get everything working properly. But it required significantly more time than expected. Better and more detailed instructions would be helpful.

Pros: Works great with the steering wheel controls

Cons: Poor instructions , poor wiring diagram and unclear programming instructions

Very intimidating when you open package and review the very minimal, confusing and inadequate instructions. BUT if you lay out the wires, plugs and such; map out what you understand and what matches up, then just make a list of questions and contact Crutchfield tech people, they will answer all your questions like magic! Problematic, but with much tech support from Crutchfield finally works

James from Wappingers Falls, NY on 10/29/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Initial impression: The unit is overly complicated and tries to fit too many models at once. Directions a bit obtuse. Only a few of the connectors attached and hard wired were needed. The rest just take up space and clutter otherwise neat wiring. Rather confusingly, the wiring colors do NOT match the directions. Crutchfield was also initially stumped as well since PAC changed the very much needed blue with white stripe remote turn on wire locations. A call by me to PAC got not much of a response. Worse, even once sorted out it did not work. After much time and several calls to Crutchfield's tech support later we realized the unit was likely defective. Crutchfield quickly shipped a replacement, which confirmed our suspicions. While the new one worked the performance was a bit erratic. Had to re-program it, which is a bit awkward and must be performed in an exact order. "Preset" and "Track" may not be consistent from vehicle to vehicle. Took a few tries and re-sets. An easier method with a laptop apparently exists, but only works without on a Windows computer. Great, really, Nobody uses a Mac. Sigh... However, after a few tries and a deliberate reversing of up and down to match the on screen movements it finally worked. We will see how this continues over time. My time and patience are limited and this challenged both. Without Crutchfield's tech support I'd have simply returned it all.

Pros: It finally allowed steering wheel controls to work.

Cons: Overly complicated and at times less than clear directions. Possible quality control. I am not the only reviewer here to have a defective unit.

Excellent interface. Excellent support for Crutchfield. I tried three different interface cable clusters from sites that indicated they would support my situation, i.e., car to aftermarket radio. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

It actually works! Yes, I installed this in a 2005 Toyota Avalon that originally came with the JBL stereo and amp. And it works perfectly. The amp works and the info screen still works for the AC and other non-stereo functions too. I had read up on installing on aftermarket stereo in an Avalon. And most installs include using a long wiring harness to put the factory stereo in the trunk in order to keep the info screen working. But with this PAC module, it's just plug and play. The stereo I installed was a JVC single DIN unit. It doesn't have the option for steering wheel controls, so I wasn't able to try that out. This is my daughter's car and I plan to get her a nicer double DIN unit for Christmas. I will then see how well the the PAC module retains those controls. But I suspect they will be fine. As others indicated in their reviews, the instruction are not really good. But in the Avalon, everything goes where you expect it to. So there was no hang-up. But I specifically bought this from Crutchfield because I wanted tech support in case I couldn't figure it out.

Pros: Works exactly as advertised in 2005 Avalon.

Chris from Houston, TX on 9/20/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works as described. Now I have an aftermarket stereo and have full functionality of the steering wheel controls (SWC). The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is the instructions. It labels all of the harnesses and identifies each wire, but doesn't tell you exactly what to hook together. Also know that on your vehicle, you might have a couple of harnesses that you don't even use. I didn't know that at first so I wasn't confident that I had set it up correctly even though I did.

Pros: Does what it should. If you know a little bit about car audio and already generally know what wires need to go where you'll figure it out.

Cons: Confusing instructions. If you have never done a stereo install yourself you may not be able to follow the instructions. They lack some steps and details.

This wiring interface works great. I had very little trouble connecting it and getting it to work the first time. The instructions were a little overwhelming at first, but once I realized that my setup was relatively simple (I have the JBL speaker system, which handles all of the sound distribution), the audio connections and steering wheel controls worked the first time. The only problem i had was that my 2009 RAV4 has an antenna booster built in, and there is no connection in the PAC RP4 that connects to the antenna booster power in the car wiring harness. It took a couple of calls to Crutchfield to sort that out, but they have a note on which wire to splice into in the car wiring harness to connect to the Power Antenna radio wire. All was well after that.

Issues with Prius

2004 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The instructions are not descriptive enough, You may need (most likely) a windows laptop to complete installation, after many, many calls to Pac audio and Crutchfield I was able to install it, but, there is a problem using this with Prius vehicles and only found out after consulting a few radio installation shops, the RadioPro4 is more problematic than they are worth and that most installers stick with the separate radio interface and steering control modules. I had a terrible unresolved issue with the volume on the stock amp bouncing up and down from 28 all the way up to 60 (max) and back down again, there was no resolution to the issue and I had to return it, I would suggest that if to have a second generation Prius that you do NOT use this module, it is bug ridden and most of the time result in undesirable issues. and don't bother calling Pac audio, the have no idea how to resolve the issue.

Pros: Should be an all in one solution to integrate your radio into your car's OEM digital amp and also have your steering wheel controls work.

Cons: Bugs in the unit itself are a major issue to having a successful install of your radio, they are know issues by radio installers and by Pac audio but, they have no intention of resolving them, I was told that the my Prius was an "old car" and that they cannot solve every issue that comes along with older cars.

Troubleshooters, look here. I had purchased a "new to me" 4runner, and immediately ordered a new stereo (CDE-153BT) to put in it, and sprung for the extra cost of this harness to handle the factory amp and steering wheel controls. This was probably one of the more challenging installs I've done, as it's a LOT of wire, and trying to find a spot to cram it all in was a bit of a challenge, but it eventually worked out. After about a week, I started having intermittent issues if I was listening to bluetooth music and would receive rapid-succession text messages. The sound from the radio would completely cut out, even though I could tell sound was still playing. Convinced it was a faulty stereo/BT, I exchanged the CDE-153BT for a CDE-HD148BT, and am having the same issues. At this point, I'm now convinced that it's not the head unit, but this adapter that is causing the issues, and am getting it replaced, once it comes back in stock. Ultimately, I need the functionality so there's not much of a choice here, I just wish it worked better.

Notes:
  • Only compatible in Toyota Avalon vehicles equipped with a JBL system.
  • Not compatible in Lexus vehicles equipped with factory navigation.

Radio Select Switch: The radio select switches on the side of the interface must be adjusted to the proper radio setting before plugging the interface into the vehicle. The RP4.2-TY11 is compatible with Alpine, JVC, Kenwood, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, Jensen, Fusion, Advent, Boyo, Dual, Lightning Audio, Rockford Fosgate, and Visteon aftermarket radios (see owner's manual for appropriate dip-switch setting).

For Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 can be used in vehicles with amplified & non-amplified factory audio systems. It retains JBL and JBL Synthesis amplified audio systems with real-time and programmable speaker fade function.

Note: Aftermarket radio features such as High Pass Filters (crossovers), DSP or "Network Mode" will interfere with proper fader function. In order for the RP4.2-TY11's fader function to work, the audio from the aftermarket radio's output must match so it can compare the front and rear audio levels and determine the proper fader setting for the factory amplifier.

Programmable SWC: The interface comes pre-programmed for all of the vehicle's factory SWC functions and does not require programming, unless you wish to re-assign the SWC functions to different buttons or create secondary functions. The SWC functions can be easily programmed; see default SWC button assignments in the included user manual. The interface retains programming even if your vehicle's battery is disconnected.

Note: The SWC harness contains a Blue/Yellow wire and a 3.5mm connector. You will only use one of the connectors, based on your type of aftermarket radio. The Blue/Yellow wire supports Kenwood and newer JVC receivers. The 3.5mm jack supports Alpine, Jensen, Older JVC, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, and Dual radios. Not compatible with Soundstream head units.

Factory Aux Input Retention: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 radio replacement interface module retains your vehicle's factory 3.5mm auxiliary input. Your aftermarket stereo must be equipped with a rear-panel Aux input (RCA-to-3.5mm adapter may be required).

+12V/10A Accessory Output: In many Toyota/Scion/Lexus vehicles, there is no 12-volt accessory wire in the factory harness, which requires the installer to run an accessory wire to the fuse box or underneath the steering column when installing an aftermarket radio. PAC's RP4.2-TY11 is designed to provide a 12V/10A switched accessory output (red wire).

Navigation Outputs: The PAC radio replacement interface provides wired outputs for navigation radio installation; including a VSS (vehicle speed sense), Parking Brake, and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming.

Note: Navigation outputs not retained by all vehicles.

Retains Factory Info Display: The PAC RadioPRO RP4.2-TY11 radio replacement interface module retains the factory info display (when applicable). Make sure the interface module has the latest firmware version installed.

Optional Factory USB & Backup Camera Harnesses: You are also able to retain your vehicle's factory USB input and backup camera in select vehicles with an optional harness: CAM-TY11 or CAM-TY12 (retains backup camera), or AX-TOYUSB or AX-TOYUSB-2 (retains USB input).

RadioPRO App: PAC offers a Windows compatible RadioPRO App software program to help you configure the interface. Use of the RadioPRO App allows you to do the following.

  • Red/White wire output behavior
  • Aftermarket radio Parking Brake Sequencing
  • Factory amplifier settings (Bass, Mid, Treble, Gain, Fader & Balance)
  • Real Time Fading
  • Update Product Firmware
  • Read Firmware/Hardware Versions
  • Access Product User Manuals
Note: The interface must be connected to the vehicle and your Windows laptop when using the RadioPRO App.
