Product Research

Features

GM Class II (24-pin/12-pin) Radio Replacement Interface: The PAC RP5-GM11 radio replacement interface allows the replacement of your vehicle's factory radio with an upgraded aftermarket head unit in select GM vehicles. The RP5-GM11 has been engineered to interface seamlessly with your vehicle's computer data bus system (Class II) and retain important safety and convenience features. This all-in-one radio replacement interface offers OnStar retention, amplifier retention, built-in SWC (Steering Wheel Controls), navigation based output signals, and other features that save time during installation.

  • Convenience Features: The PAC RP5-GM11 radio replacement interface retains a variety of convenience features when replacing your vehicle's factory radio with an aftermarket head unit. You'll continue to be able to use your vehicle's factory OnStar system with turn-by-turn voice prompts and volume adjustments. Your vehicle's warning chimes (w/ volume adjustment) and retained accessory power output (RAP) will remain completely functional. RAP allows the ignition power source of many GM vehicles to keep the radio on until one of the doors is opened.
  • Amplified & Non-Amplified Systems: The PAC RP5-GM11 is compatible with amplified and non-amplified factory audio systems. Its compatible with both Bose and Premium Bose audio systems. The unit does not support fading for Premium Bose systems.
  • Factory Entertainment Features: The RP5-GM11 retains several factory entertainment features; including Bluetooth (2009+ vehicles), Aux input, rear seat entertainment (RSE), rear seat audio controls, and dual zone functionality. In order to retain factory rear seat entertainment, your aftermarket head unit must be fitted with a rear-panel AUX or AV input. Since the RP5-GM11 is outfitted with stereo RCA jacks, if your aftermarket head unit has a 3.5mm Aux input, you will need a stereo RCA-to-minijack adapter (sold separately - see accessory list).
  • Navigation Outputs: The PAC radio replacement interface also provides a VSS (vehicle speed sense), Parking Brake, and a Reverse Gear output to make installing an aftermarket navigation head unit simpler and less time consuming. In addition, the interface retains your vehicle's back-up sensors and park assist feature. *The VSS wire is not provided for Corvettes with a factory equipped Denso brand radio.

Built-in SWC (Steering Wheel Controls): The interface comes pre-programmed for all of the vehicle's factory SWC functions and does not require programming, unless you wish to re-assign the SWC functions to different buttons. The SWC functions can be easily programmed; see control settings and functions in owner's manual. The interface retains programming even if your vehicle's battery is disconnected.

Note: The SWC harness contains a Blue/Yellow wire and a 3.5mm connector. You will only use one of the connectors, based on your type of aftermarket radio. The Blue/Yellow wire supports Kenwood, Newer JVC, OEM and Blaupunkt radios. The 3.5mm jack supports Alpine, Jensen, Older JVC, Clarion, Pioneer, Sony, and Dual radios. Not compatible with Soundstream head units.

Vehicle Compatibility: The PAC RP5-GM11 is compatible with select 2000-up GM vehicles with Class II (24-pin/12-pin) data bus systems.

Will this work on a 1992Corvette with a Delco Bose Gold System ?
[ Bill W  Mar 26, 2019 ]
2 answers
A
It won't. This system is made for 2000 and newer GM vehicles - if I remember correctly, all you need is a dash kit and wiring harness - there's a special wiring harness that Metra makes for older GM vehicles with the Bose systems, it's pretty much plug-and-play...

Q
Can I add aftermarket amp and subs with this?
[ SeanJ  Mar 17, 2019 ]
1 answer
A
This interface is meant to help install a new radio. If you installed one of those with a subwoofer preamp output, then this part with that radio will get you ready for the amp and sub install. If you are only wanting to install an amp/sub setup to the stock radio, other parts will be needed. For that, I recommend calling an advisor on 1-800-324-9695 for help with those parts. If this question is regarding an install in a Chevrolet Truck, I can't answer the question. I did not receive the correct install kit with the radio I purchased from Crutchfield!
[ MICHAEL L  Apr 02, 2018 ]
A
It does require you to connect wires together, if that's what you mean by splicing. That's because each vehicle is going to have a different harness and each stereo is going to have a different harness. I didn't solder mine but what I did was twist the wires together and then I used shrink tubing and a heat gun to seal it. That makes a nice, tight, waterproof seal. You can get a heat gun for less than $15 at Harbor Freight and shrink tubing is very, very cheap. Just make sure you put the shrink tubing on BEFORE you twist the wires together!

[ choppyd18  Sep 12, 2016 ]

The RCA's should plug in to the sub channel of the radio if your car is equipped with a factory sub. If your vehicle doesn't have a sub then leave these off.

Will this retain the ability for the radio stations to be displayed on my head up display on my 2006 grand Prix gxp?

it did for me.
[ William R.  Sep 03, 2019 ]
A
It will not, no. None of the integration harness options we have for the 2006 Grand Prix will retain the factory RDS (Radio Data System) display information. The good news is, if the aftermarket stereo you select supports RDS or features a built-in HDRadio tuner, the text information will display on the new stereo's readout. I hope that helps My Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=5

Bit confused. I have read that if you use the Pac to retain Onstar and chimes, that you will still need something like the aswc-1 to retain the steering wheel controls; volume, seek, source, etc. But it says in this info the Pac does it all? I have a 2003 gmc Sierra with Premium(not bose). I really don't care about ONstar or the chimes(hate em). Any advise greatly appreciated.

Q
Hi, I have a 2006 GMC Yukon SLT with Bose and rear seat entertainment (RSE). The factory head unit plays the sound from the rear seat dvd player through the speakers. I would like to retain that feature when replacing the head unit with a DVD/double din unit of some kind. Has anyone had a positive experience using this Module? I was under the impression this wasn't possible until the 2007-2014 models. Thanks.
