70V or 100V In-Wall Volume Control: The ALT-70V-50 volume control is designed to add local or zone volume control to a 70V or 100V commercial audio system, as long as the total power does not exceed 50 watts. It's manufactured with a high-quality autoformer design for long life, excellent frequency response, low heat build-up, and easy installation.
50-Watt Power Handling: With a 50-watt transformer, the ALT-70V-50 is perfect for controlling all of your speakers within a room, handling up to 6 speakers tapped at 7.5 watts or up to 12 speakers tapped at 3.75 watts. You can even use the volume control as a master zone control with sub zones, as long as the total wattage on all subzones doesn't exceed 50 watts.
Note: The ALT-70V-50 can only handle up to 50 watts total. For example, if controlling 4 speakers tapped at 7.5 watts each, the total would be 30 watts which is acceptable. If those same 4 speakers were tapped at 15 watts each, the total would be 60 watts and this would exceed the power rating of this volume control.
11-Step Attenuation w/ Make-Before-Break Design: 11 steps of attenuation means that you'll always have smooth control over your 70V audio system's volume. All of the 11-step positions of the ALT-70V-50 use a make-before-break design, meaning that as you turn the knob, the volume will ramp up or down smoothly, with no breaks in the sound. The electrical connection to the next step is always made before the connection of the previous step is broken. The result is smooth sound adjustment at any volume level.
Removable Screw-Down Connector: The removable screw-down speaker connector accepts up to 12AWG wire. Russound knows how much easier it is to wire a volume control with a removable connector, reducing the amount of time spent on the job site and simplifying any future servicing/updates to a system. The screw-down terminals guarantee an ultra-reliable connection that will last for years.
Mounting Options: The ALT-70V-50 is designed for indoor use and mounts in a 1-gang box (not included).
Decora-Style: The ALT- 70V-50 includes Decora plates, inserts, and knobs in white, light almond, and ivory for flexibility in installing any of these colors as desired.
