About the Rockford Fosgate P2D4-8
Rockford Fosgate showcases their fanatical commitment to sonic excellence in the Punch Series of speakers, amps, and subs. If you like to listen to potent, powerful music — and feel it too — Punch components will give you impressive sound that'll stand out in a crowd.
Engineers at Rockford Fosgate designed the P2D4-8 8" subwoofer to dish out the kind of powerful low end you crave in your ride. Its responsive paper cone is reinforced with the same Kevlar® fibers used in bulletproof vests so you get the best of both worlds — warm bass that's exceptionally hard-hitting. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the oversized rubber surround to the cone that increases available cone area up to 25%, so this sub can push more air for even bigger bass.
Made for heavy excursion
This P2 sub features an extended pole piece and bumped backplate that leaves more room for heavy excursion, so it'll hit deeper lows without "bottoming out." Special venting keeps the copper-clad aluminum voice coils cool through heavy use for consistent bass performance over time.
The dual 4-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for 2-ohm impedance to work with a mono sub amp, or for 8-ohm impedance if you're using multiple subs. The P2D4-8 sub works equally well in a sealed or ported enclosure, so you can choose the kind of bass you want for your system.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 200 and 375 watts RMS at 2 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

Rockford Fosgate P2D4-8 reviews
I built a box to spec for this little guy and it just fits behind the back seat of my 2006 Ram Mega Cab. I ported box and up against seat back it for a nice tight sound. Powered by a R.F. 300×1 it really rocks. From metal to EDM I like it loud. After 4 years of daily driving this sub only gets louder. Sooo happy. Much better than I expected. Thanks Crutchfield and Rockford Fosgate!

These are some bad little boys, had fosgate give me port spec, built a box to hold six of them running off a fosgate T1500bdcp, wired them series parelell and they get down. They're getting about 325 watts a piece rms
Pros: Nice woofer

I was advised to purchase this by a Crutchfield Advisor and firstly, it did not fit. I had to bend metal in the rear deck of my 2018 Honda Accord to 'make' it fit. Secondly, this speaker is not a suitable replacement for a factory fitted Subwoofer. These sub woofers are not efficient at all and need additional power and a sealed box in order to make any difference. This speaker did not sound any better than my factory sub, in fact it sounded much worse. I had to remove it and was advised by 2 different Car Audio professionals to always add power first before replacing woofers, sub-woofers and tweaters.
Cons: Does Not Fit Rear Deck of 2018 Honda Accord and Requires an Amp & Sealed Box to make any difference

Replaced an old Rockford sub-woofer in my car with a the P2D4-8 and there was no comparison. The new Rockford punch p2 speakers have an incredible amount of sound for such a small package. They are only 8 inches so don't blow you away unless cranked all the way but give a good sound of an authentic bass for most songs.
Pros: Cheap, Durable, Powerful, Magnet Cover
Cons: Small, Not as powerful as bigger sub-woofers

I have yet to hear the subs as my application will be tricky shoe horning them under the back seat of my 04 2500HD quad cab. However if they sound half as good as thy look then they will certainly be impressive. They are overbuilt and massive for an 8" sub.
Pros: Power handling and the DVC's impedance options make wiring very flexible. The trim ring is elegant and again well made.
Cons: The mesh grill should be included for the price.

I am building my first system, and choose to get two of these 8 inch Rockford due to space constraints in my crew cab Colorado. The subs sound awesome for being really under powered (planning on getting a bigger amp later) and being in a box that is definitely not the best shape for acoustics. They are not window rattlers, but provide bass and depth to any music
Pros: great sound, look cool
Cons: not the loudest subs, but they are only eights in a sealed box

ok I will have to say that after getting burned by other sub manufacturers I found a set of power punch 8's back in the day and they SLAMMED> so now I get jbl gto's.BLOWN,pioneer.BLOWN,jl,WEAK,Alpine,kicker and Crunch. none could do as these lil guys do. they hit and sound AMAZING with out all that deep rumbling roll off you hear from the bigger subs, clean, adjustable, running fosgate T1000-1bdCP and they sing so well. get you a pair and you will be AMAZED!!!!

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P2D4-8 is an 8-inch subwoofer with dual 4Ω voice coils. The sub features a StampCast steel frame, quick-release compression terminals, a Kevlar fiber reinforced paper cone, and Santoprene surround. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.
Dual 4Ω Voice Coils: The dual 4Ω voice coils offer wiring flexibility; when wired in parallel the woofer presents a 2Ω load, when wired in series the woofer presents an 8Ω load.
Steel Basket: The P2D4-8 subwoofer features a StampCast steel basket for added rigidity.
Compression Terminals: The P2D4-8 features spring post terminals which accommodate speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the P2D4-8 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.
FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.
Trim Ring: To improve the cosmetic look, a decorative trim ring is included that mounts over the flange of the woofer. When using the cast aluminum trim ring the woofer is first mounted with four screws, then the ring is placed on top of the woofer, aligning the final four holes of the woofer with ring. The other four screws are used for these holes to mount the ring and woofer to the enclosure. Without the trim ring the mounting height of the woofer is approximately 7/8 of an inch.
Sealed Box: Rockford recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 0.23 cubic feet (from 0.2 to 0.3 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Rockford recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 0.65 cubic feet using one 2" diameter x 8" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 38.5 Hz. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output (below 33 Hz).
