Mica Filled Polypropylene Cone: The woofer cones are strong, light and have high internal damping to provide excellent sound reproduction.
Rubber Surround: Each woofer is made with a rubber surround that withstands the extremes of the automotive environment. The rubber surround improves sound quality by reducing 2nd and 3rd order harmonics and provides a wider frequency response.
Cupped Spider: The spider has the job of centering the voice coil and providing the rear suspension for the speaker. The Fanatic X Component system woofers use a cupped spider to ensure great sound with long life and durability.
Voice Coil: The 1" voice coils are wound on an aluminum former for more efficient heat dissipation. This helps ensure durability and high power handling.
Vented Pole Piece: The pole piece extends from the back of the speaker into the voice coil area. The Fanatic X woofers are made with a vented pole piece so that air may circulate in the voice coil gap. Air circulating in the voice coil gap helps dissipate heat and results in greater power handling and increased reliability.
Silk Dome: Each tweeter is made with a silk dome that has low mass and high strength for smooth high frequency reproduction.
Ferrofluid Cooling: A synthetic fluid is placed in the magnetic gap of the tweeter to aid in the cooling of the voice coil. The result is higher power handling and greater reliability.
Neodymium Magnet: The magnet produces a strong magnetic field, therefore a smaller magnet may be used to enable the tweeter to create a much larger sound.
Tweeter Mounting: The tweeters may be flush, surface or "wedge" mounted. The tweeters swivel inside the flush and surface mount sockets, but do not swivel in the "wedge mount" socket. The "wedge mount" sockets surface mount to the vehicle and hold the tweeters at a fixed angle (may be mounted to provide a 15 or 60 degree angle). The tweeters must be installed using one of the three sockets.

The tweeters come installed in the flush mount sockets. To remove tweeter from socket, turn the back plate of the socket counter clockwise, then lift the back plate away from the socket to access the tweeter
2-Way Butterworth Crossovers: The crossovers feature a 18dB/octave, 4kHz high-pass network for the tweeters and a 6dB/octave, 4kHz low-pass network for the woofers. The steeper slope of the high-pass network allows the tweeters to handle greater power, while the low-pass network provides for a seamless transition between the tweeter and woofer.
Optical Compression Tweeter Protection: The built-in protection circuit includes an incandescent bulb (visible through the clear crossover cover) and limits power to the tweeter when the "danger" threshold is exceeded. This method of protection is inaudible because the circuit simply limits power and does not shut the tweeter off.
Selectable 0dB/-3dB Tweeter Output Level: There is a jumper pad located on the crossover circuit board that allows the user to select full output level (0dB) or attenuated (-3dB) tweeter operation; this feature allows you to match the tweeter output level with the woofer output level for balanced response. Typically, when the tweeter and woofer are mounted so they are about the same distance from the listener's ears, the jumper is left in the 0dB position; when the tweeter location is much closer to the listener's ears than the woofer's location, the jumper should be set to the -3dB position.

Sensitivity: The manual lists separate sensitivity specs for the woofer (88.4dB) and tweeter (93dB). The sensitivity figure listed in the Crutchfield database is the average of the two individual sensitivity specifications. The average sensitivity (90.7dB) is given because it more accurately represents the overall sensitivity of the system; this permits a better estimation of the power needed for clean, high volume output.
