Bring powerful bass and colorful lighting to your boat

On land or sea, a quality subwoofer is a must if you're serious about sound. Rockford Fosgate designed their M1 Series marine subwoofers to bring booming bass to your boat, along with versatile RGB LED lighting to give you looks to match their great sound.

Made for life on the water

This M1 Series M1D4-10 10" sub features a rugged, removable grille that looks great and stands up to blistering sunlight and damaging moisture. Underneath the UV-stable shell and durable Santoprene rubber surround, you'll find a injection-molded mineral-filled polypropylene cone that's treated with UV inhibitors, plus a moisture- and tear-resistant synthetic fiber blend spider.

Switchable impedance

The 2-position VersaSwitch™ lets you set up the sub for 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance with a simple flip of the switch. Rockford Fosgate's corrosion-resistant, spring-loaded push terminals and flexible, insulated silicone lead wire will stand up to the elements, whether you're on open water or tied up at the marina. This Element Ready™ sub won't miss a beat — and neither will you.

Light up the night

The sub also features Rockford Fosgate's Color Optix™ RGB LED lighting system to give you bright, colorful lighting that accents your boat's interior. The lighting can be programmed for a variety of special lighting effects via the PMX-RGB lighting controller (sold separately) and an extension cable using a smartphone app.

Maximum versatility

Powerful enough for bass-heavy music, the M1D4-10 is a great choice for anyone who's building a serious marine audio system and wants to make a colorful impression.

More details on the Rockford Fosgate M1D4-10B

Product Research

Marine Tested: Rockford Fosgate uses industry standard tests (ASTM B117 salt/fog and ASTM G154 UV) to ensure the M1D4-10B subwoofers are durable in the difficult marine environment.

Impedance Switch: A switch on the input terminal allows you to easily change the subwoofer's impedance between 2Ω and 8Ω, internally changing between wiring the dual 4Ω voice coils in parallel and in series. (The connected amplifier should be off when changing the impedance.) The power handling is the same for either setting; 300 watts RMS/1200 watts peak.

LEDs: There are red, green, and blue LEDs on the back of the grille to create a glow on the woofer cone. The LEDs can be powered individually, or in any combination you like. Depending on what combination of LED wires is connected, they light red, green, blue, yellow, pink, aqua, or white. A 12 volt power supply is needed to turn the LEDs on and a 1-amp fuse should be added in-line (fuse not included). The LEDs can also be controlled using Rockford Fosgate's LED Controller (item number 575PMXRGB, sold separately). An LED power wire harness is included with a 4-pin waterproof Deutsch DT Series connector that plugs into the subwoofer frame.

Speaker Terminals: In addition to standard male quick slide terminals, the subwoofer also has a 2-pin waterproof Deutsch terminal. A speaker wire harness with a 2-pin waterproof Deutsch DT Series connector is not included.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Rockford Fosgate optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

Stainless Steel: The mounting hardware is stainless steel to resist corrosion.

Enclosure/Free-Air: The sub can be mounted in a sealed or ported box, or in an infinite-baffle (free-air) application. The optimum internal volume of a sealed enclosure is 1.1 ft³; from 0.75 to 1.25 ft³ is acceptable. The 1.1 ft³ enclosure yields a -3dB point of 58.4 Hz. The best ported enclosure volume is 1.45 ft³ using one 3" diameter x 9½" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 40 Hz and a -3dB point of 39 Hz. Infinite-baffle mounting yields a -3dB point of 69.4 Hz.

Customer Q&A

3 questions already asked

Do these need to be in enclosure?

I did it both ways, enclosed sounds much better. Do not UNDER POWER the speaker ,night and day when you have proper wattage and an lc2.
[ Micharl  Oct 01, 2021 ]
No they do not mine use the whole engine compartment and other parts of the boat as the enclosure. They sound amazing and I have a tone of power going to them. The only issue I'm having with them is they are mounted to fiberglass off the boat as that's where I cut the holes to mount them. When I really crank them up with something with a lot of bass the fiberglass is not stiff enough to support all of the vibration and they start to flutter. But that's at really loud listening levels. At lower listening levels and even up to 80% they sound awesome! My local custom radio guy said I should go in behind the fiberglass with 3/4" mdf board and make backings for the speakers to give it way more support. He said that will solve the problem. A job for next spring!!! Good luck!

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
