Rich & Full

Just installed it a few days ago but it's doing exactly what I expected by providing that rich bass that fills the car. In my opinion ported boxes are the best for bass heavy music with the added benefit of lower power consumption requirements, keeping the amp cooler, compared to sealed boxes. This box replaced my sealed underwear 8" that only worked for a week due to poor quality. I'm very pleased and have been a fan of Rockford Fosgate for years.

Pros: Great sound, perfect low profile design and made from premium quality materials.

Cons: So far, none.

Very clean and powerful speaker

Installed on a 2007 F-150 under left side passenger seat. Love the sound and anyone with a 4 door F-150 should purchase. Professional installation as I wanted a clean look. At night has a nice blue light that helps as a night light. I also love how it only uses a small space compared to other models as this allows me to have under seats storage.

Pros: Great sound, volume control, small footprint, and price.

Cons: None so far.

It didn't work. All powered up double checked all fittings, NOTHING. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE TERRIBLE!! Replacement on the way.

Pros: Great concept

Cons: Set up and wiring instructions were ridiculous. Read it over several times. It said you could use auto on through RCA Jack's but then you realize you can't so now you have to run ANOTHER wire from front to back. Why wouldn't the RCA and auto power wire be in the same harness? I'll not do that again!

I have this in my 2018 Jeep GC with the base 6 speaker system. I changed out the speakers and it sounded great until I rolled downed the windows. I had no bass what so ever so I added this. WOW! For such a small box and sub it's simply amazing what this puts out. I'm very happy with the results.

Pros: Small size but fills in the low end pretty well.

It fits perfectly under the rear seat of my Honda Ridgeline. Its my first subwoofer and I couldn't be more pleased. Gets louder than I want and it can shake your seat. I am glad I went with this over one of the shallower subs. I love it and highly recommend it!

My wife wanted a bit more punch to her rock tracks, and already had an aftermarket stereo with a sub out, so this amp-inside box was perfect for her 05 Impreza. Exactly what we wanted from a punchy 8",and the build quality is excellent. You will need a sub wiring kit if you don't already have one.

Pros: Good sub for rock.

I could not be happier. This replaced a kicker hideaway that I've had in my truck for the last 3 years and while the hideaway is no slouch for its size and power this Rockford Fosgate sub blows it out of the water and for less money. This is everything you could ever expect from a 8" in a box this size. It has nice clean bass that thumps pretty good and can easily be tuned on the fly. I highly recommend this.

I had my doubts that this little 8 incher would satisfy, but boy was I surprised. This is all I would ever need in my Prelude. Completely fills the car with sound and doesn't rattle. Paired it with an Alpine head unit and a small alpine amp for the Alpine 6x9s and fosgate component speakers in my doors. i have installed car stereos for a couple of decades now and i don't know if I have ever been more satisfied on my initial purchase. If this lasts it will have been one of the best buys i have made for myself or a customer.

2018 Toyota Tacoma

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This product definitely fills out the low end of my music. Sounds good for the most part, but tends to bog out when the bass gets real deep. No matter how much I tweak with the sound, I can never find a setting that leaves me 100% satisfied. For the price it is a great buy, but if you're looking for something that packs a bit more of a punch, you're better off spending a bit more money. You get what you pay for.

Pros: Sleek design, good bass

Cons: Bogs out at deeper bass/higher volumes

This product is AMAZING for such a small package and price! Definitely one of the BEST compact, powered subs your money can buy. Installation was a breeze and it just sounds phenomenal! The ported design really helps to get you that extra oomf of bass you want coming out of a small sub. I got it to replace my Alpine PWE-S8 sub; not that anything was wrong with it, it was good, but I just needed to feel a bit more of the bass, and this sub definitely filled that void. I would recommend this to anybody looking for a fairly small, great sounding, capable sub.

Pros: Small Powerful Ported

Cons: Not any I can think of at the moment.. Probably for some that this sub will most likely not be able to fit under your seat.

A simple install in my 2019 Ford Transit Wagon. I used the Velcro strips to anchor it to the side wall behind the drivers seat. High level speaker wires were accessed under the drivers seat from a Kicker Key amp, also from Crutchfield. Plenty loud for my 70 year old ears & other old passengers.

Pros: Small package, great PUNCH

This boxed amp sub (8") seems to be generating more bass than my previous 12" sub and is really filling the space in my vehicle. The sound is great and I love having the option of adjusting bass levels. I would definitely recommend this unit especially if you are concerned with compromising space in your vehicle and for a reasonable price. Crutchfield as usual, was very knowledgeable about the dimensions of my vehicle space and always does an excellent job with recommendations.

Pros: Price, size, remote, all in one unit

Cons: None that come to mind

This adds really nice bass in a small package. Very happy we chose this powered sub. For more secure mounting, it would be nice if the box had some locations identified on it where mounting screws could be installed -- it could even come with some threaded inserts in the box for mounting. We used some window insulation foam and the velcro that comes with the box to secure it to the side of the cargo area in our SUV, but added a nylon strap to help keep it in place.

Compact Power!

300W in a small form factor? There are no other powered subwoofer options that I know of in this form factor and that much power. This thing is great in my 2012 Volvo XC60. I cut out a small rectangular section of the rear cargo liner under the rear floor so that this subwoofer is completely hidden from view. Although it's hidden, it makes its existence known. For an 8" speaker, this thing can put out some good quality bass tones and punch levels. The stock HK speakers in my XC60 could already perform well down low but this has allowed me to turn the bass down on my factory speakers to let them focus more on the mid-level tones. I used a line output converter (LOC) to bring the rear speakers signals to the amp via RCA cables. It took a bit of tuning to get the LOC and P300-8P to sound just right, but a little tuning is always required to get the right levels and cutoffs for your application. I can't speak highly enough about this little subwoofer. To be completely transparent, I could not get the remote turn-on wire to work from my LOC so I relied on the Audio sensing turn-on option to turn the sub on/off. However, the subwoofer would not turn on. The power LED light would flash as louder bass tones hit during songs and I could not figure out what I did wrong. As it turns out, the amp in the subwoofer was bad. Crutchfield ordered a whole new unit under warranty and we replaced it in the parking lot which was a quick 1-minute job. Now it works perfect! Thanks Crutchfield!

Pros: Small, powerful, ported, adequate frequency response, easy installation

Cons: Nothing as long as you don't compare it to a bigger subwoofer with more power.

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P300-8P is an all-in-one bass solution featuring an 8" woofer and a built-in 300 watt RMS amplifier in a ported enclosure made from 5/8" MDF. Its slim form is designed to easily fit in pickup trucks and compact cars, while taking up as little usable space as possible.

Integrated Amplifier: The 8" woofer is powered by a built-in Class-D amplifier rated at 300 watts RMS/600 watts peak. The closed-loop designed ensures optimum performance of the woofer, amplifier, and enclosure system.

Quick Disconnect Power/Ground: The power, ground, and remote turn-on wires attach to a quick disconnect terminal block, so the subwoofer can be easily removed when you need more storage space. Each terminal is a set screw, with the power and ground accepting up to 4 gauge wire (minimum 8 gauge recommended) and the remote turn-on will accept up to 8 gauge wire.

Audio Inputs: The amplifier section will accept either a line level (RCA) or speaker level signal. The included 12" input harness has a Molex plug on one end and female stereo RCA jacks on the other. When using a speaker level input, the RCA jacks get cut off and spliced into the factory wires.

Input Switch: The Input Switch is set based on the incoming signal type:

  • Low-Level: Used when connecting and RCA level signal into the amp. Range is from 150mV to 6V.
  • High-Level: Used when connecting the subwoofer using a speaker-level input signal. Range is from 400mV to 12V.

Auto Turn-On: The Auto Turn-On switch offers three options:

  • REM: the amp turns on when +12 volts DC is applied to the remote terminal
  • DC Offset: the amp turns on when a 6 volt surge is detected on the signal inputs (from a speaker level source)
  • Audio: the amp turns on when an incoming audio signal is detected (can be used with line level or speaker level inputs)

Gain Control: The rotary gain control allows you to match the output level of your headunit to the input level of the powered subwoofer.

Crossover: The 12 db/oct low-pass crossover is always engaged; the crossover point is adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz.

Bass Boost: Use the rotary dial to adjust the bass boost; continuously variable from 0 to +12 dB, centered at 45 Hz.

Phase: A switch allows you to reverse the phase of the subwoofer (0°, 180°).

Protection Circuit: The P300-8P is equipped with thermal overload, over voltage, and short circuit protection. The amplifier will shut down if any of these situations is encountered.

Punch Level Control: A wired Punch Level Control is included so you can adjust the output level from the driver's seat. The remote has a bracket to mount it under the dash. The included 16-1/2' cable, with a 3.5mm stereo mini-plug on each end, connects the remote to the subwoofer. Note: The Punch Level Control measures approximately 2-3/8" wide x 1" high x 2" deep (3-1/2" deep including the knob and cable).

Dimensions: The dimensions listed in Dimensions and Features/Specs include the subwoofer's grille, and the power and signal wiring harnesses, which add approximately 1.0" and 1.5" respectively. The depth of just the enclosure is 4.875" and the width without wiring is 17.750".

I installed this sub, against the side wall, behind the drivers seat in my 2019 Transit pass van. I had already run the high level speaker wires from the head unit to under the drivers seat where I hid the Kicker Key amp. The battery is under the seat, so hooking up the sub was easy. Power & speaker level feed for the sub within 2 feet. Works great. Plenty of sub for this van. The Key has plenty of punch for the 6. 6 3/4" Rockford speakers I upgraded to. Thank You Crutchfield.

It sure can if you use a line out converter. I purchased Audiocontrol LC6i from crutchfield. It allows you to keep factory stereo and add amps and stuff since it gives you 3 pre amps out.
