About the Rockford Fosgate P3D2-15
Rockford Fosgate showcases their fanatical commitment to sonic excellence in the Punch Series of speakers, amps, and subs. If you like to listen to potent, powerful music — and feel it too — Punch components will give you impressive sound that'll stand out in a crowd.
Designed for deeper, louder bass
Rockford Fosgate designed the P3D2-15 15" subwoofer to stay strong even when the bass gets hot. This Punch P3 sub features a rigid anodized aluminum cone that holds its shape through heavy play, while staying light and responsive. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the oversized rubber surround to the cone that increases available cone area up to 25%, so this sub can push more air for even bigger bass.
The aluminum cone acts as a giant heat sink, directing heat away from the copper-clad aluminum voice coils. Special venting keeps the voice coils cool, so you get incredibly consistent bass performance over time. This P3 sub features an extended pole piece and bumped backplate that leaves more room for heavy excursion, so it'll hit deeper lows without "bottoming out."
The dual 2-ohm voice coils allow you to wire the sub for 1-ohm impedance to get maximum power output, or for 4-ohm impedance if you're using multiple subs. The P3D2-15 sub works equally well in a sealed or ported enclosure, so you can choose the kind of bass you want for your system.
To drive this single subwoofer, we recommend a mono amplifier rated between 450 and 900 watts RMS at 4 ohms. For more information, please refer to our article on How to Match Subwoofers and Amplifiers.

I needed to replace my old p3 speakers I have only bought one so far. You get a lot of sound from one speaker! Well worth the money but also lot cheaper than other speakers.
Pros: For the price you get great speakers and a lot of bass.

I basically wrote this review in response to the guy using two 1,400 watt amps to power two 600 watt subs. Man learn how to read you're way over double power per sub one punch 100.1 bd amp will power these subs. i have 2 of these subs on a prime 1200.1 amp birth sheet says 1398 rms now i am giving my 15s almost 700 watts a piece rms at 1ohm and they don't even get warm, nor does the amp. You probably don't even have them running in 4ohm either. Anyway i'm hitting 153 db with my setup all fosgate power for my highs and the two p3 d4 15s obviously for subs. No one wants to sit in my back seat when going for a boom ride. But putting 1,400 watts through a 600 watt sub is silly thats 800 watts overkill and the gain down doesn't matter youre still going to overpower them like crazy those two amps = four subs!!!!
Pros: Excellent product
Cons: Could be cheaper

Well, this sub carries the name "Rockford fosgate" but I am very disappointed... I am on a low budget but I am in love with loud impressive bass. So, I went ahead and bought two of these and two of the punch 1000-1 bd amplifiers and well, the amplifiers are very impressive but these subs are not. They cannot handle power, I have my amps set to half power running at 4 ohms and I have to baby these subs because they overheat very easily.. I have been building stereos so I know what I'm doing so my wires are clean and correct. When I finally took these out of my car the rubber cover on the magnet fell off. In my opinion, they are terribly built. Seems like Rockford is giving up.. :/ I am going to give them one last try by getting two t2 12s and honestly I wouldn't even mind gettin my money back for these subs.. 1 out of 5 is all they get from me. But on the bright side, crutchfield is amazing!!! Great service and great prices! I'll trust them for life! Thank you crutchfield!!

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P3D2-15 is a 15-inch subwoofer with dual 2Ω voice coils. The sub features a hybrid StampCast basket, quick-release compression terminals, anodized aluminum cone, and Santoprene surround. An anodized aluminum voice coil former and spider venting help keep the subwoofer cool.
Dual 2Ω Voice Coils: The dual 2Ω voice coils offer wiring flexibility; when wired in parallel the woofer presents a 1Ω load, when wired in series the woofer presents a 4Ω load.
Compression Terminals: The P3D2-15 features spring post terminals which accommodate speaker wire up to 10 gauge.
CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the P3D2-15 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.
FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.
Trim Ring: To improve the cosmetic look, a decorative trim ring is included that mounts over the flange of the woofer. When using the cast aluminum trim ring the woofer is first mounted with four screws, then the ring is placed on top of the woofer, aligning the final four holes of the woofer with ring. The other four screws are used for these holes to mount the ring and woofer to the enclosure. Without the trim ring the mounting height of the woofer is just under an inch, with the trim ring it's approximately 1-1/16 inches. The diameter of the trim ring is approximately 16-3/8 inches.
Sealed Box: Rockford recommends a sealed enclosure with an optimum internal volume of 1.58 cubic feet (from 1.5 to 3.0 cubic feet is acceptable). Sealed enclosures provide the most control over a woofer, will handle a lot of power, and provide accurate sonic reproduction, making them suitable to all types of music.
Ported Box: Rockford recommends a ported enclosure with an internal volume of 2.66 cubic feet using one 4" diameter x 10" long port; this yields a tuning frequency of 32 Hz. Ported (or vented) enclosures typically provide better overall efficiency than sealed so they are suitable for use with smaller amplifiers, giving you more bass output from less power. However, this efficiency comes at the expense of very low frequency output (below 30 Hz).
