Don't let your sound system dance around the ring; fire up a Punch series amplifier from Rockford Fosgate and enjoy a knockout performance every time! These amps will sting your speakers with plenty of clean power, while serving up the sound-shaping controls and high-quality components you need to create a heavyweight audio system.

The innovative circuit design, MOSFET output stages, and proprietary technology inside the Punch P4002 will bring out extraordinary detail in your music, with ultra-clean power you just can't get from a lesser amp. You get 100 watts RMS per channel in stereo mode (plenty for a set of component speakers), or bridge the P4002 for a hefty 400 watts RMS (excellent for driving a subwoofer).

But it takes more than muscle to create a prize-winning car audio system. So, the P4002 sports variable high- and low-pass filters, which help minimize distortion by sending your speakers only the frequencies that they're designed to handle. The Punch bass boost (0-18 dB at 45 Hz) includes a wired remote for hands-on control. You choose the right settings for your car, your speakers, and your ears.

Fosgate has always been known for the amps. They are able to but a large amount of power into a litle package. I have my 4002 hooked up to 2 series 1 10s ina sealed box in my 99 explorer. I have been using Fosgate for almost 20 years now and have never been let down. This amp is no exception. It delivers deep. tight bass and great sound. I would recommend this amp to anyone.

This is a great amp! Got this amp bridged to power my subwoofer(8" Aria in a single bandpass box) sounds and pounds great in 02 Ford F-150 Supercrew. Biggest plus on this amp was the price being cut, would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amp.

Good amp, heat sinks backward

I really like the quality and value of this amp. The only issue I've seen is that they designed the heatsinks to face towards whatever you're mounting to. I had an issue with the amp overheating every time I pushed it for more than 10 minutes or so. I put 3/4 inch aluminum square tubing between the amp and the wall, and now I don't have that issue anymore.

I BOUGHT THIS AMP ONE MONTH AGO TO POWER MY TWO INFINTY 12.1 PERFECT SUBS. THIS AMP IS SMALL BUT CAN PUSH ENOUGH POWER TO MAKE THESE SUBS THUMP. THIS AMP MATCHES MY P8004 THAT POWERS MY SPEAKERS.

This amp really rocks have it hooked up in a bridged 4 ohm mode to the RF PL2-210 box and this thing keeps them humming ! very easy to install and lights that light up the up and signal strength are a nice touch also running a RF 1 farad digital cap only overheated once but that was my fault with tto much signal coming from the HU pus it was already 98 degrees outside but easily corrected bumping down the subwoofer signal level a few notches !

great deal

i recently replaced a kicker KX250.2 with this amp and i was really amazed by how much more i got with only 150 rms watts more, it seemed to be at least, if not more, 3 times as powerful and hard hitting (i actually had to go to a much more power-hungry subwoofer combination if i wanted to really bump this amp, because of its high output). not only can you feel the bass, its very clean and highly responsive. this amp is CEA recognized for real watt output and i really believe that its very under rated. im running 2 kicker compVR DVC 4ohm 12" on it and it really opens up the 12s. this amp has to be putting out at least 500-650 watts rms if you put it on a 2ohm load (like i did). it has no problems overheating and its compact size is a big plus. my buddy wants it so bad im thinkin i might sell it to him because i got some spare change for a punch upgrade and im thinkin of goin to a RF Punch P1000.2 and lettn the gain just sleep while it runs my vr's. if you want REAL rms watts for a great price, i would highly recommend going with a punch series amp.

This amp rocks out of the box, it powers my Polk/MOMO MM2124 12" 4-ohm subwoofer with out any trouble. controls are in easy reach and when they dont need to be adjusted anymore they will just hide away under the chrome panel. extremely clean look, and i love how the RF logo illuminates to the beat of the music. This is a must buy product if you are looking at purchasing.

Very strong amp

I replaced an out of date sony amp that was not pumping my MTX Thunder 8000 10inch sub at all. I didn't realize what that sub was capable of until i bought the Rockford p4002 amp. I bridged the amp to run 400watts at 4ohms into one channel for my SVC subwoofer. The clarity of the bass is amazing, the amplifier connections allowed for easy installation and the remote bass boost is great to compesate for different types of music that need more or less bass. This amp gave me a hard hitting bass machine that i was missing and i recommend the p4002 to anyone looking to power a 400watt rms sub. If you want your neighbors to hear you coming a couple of blocks away then this is the amp for you. Thank you Rockford for a great product and i look forward to purchasing a p3002 to power a set of components to get some real higher frequency sound in my truck.

Replaced a JL Audio 300x2 with this little guy. Honestly - Somehow it hits harder - just as clearly - as the JL amp that cost twice as much! I bought it expecting a "decent" sounding amp - After hooking it up, it blew my expectations away. Great amp - Good price.

Features

Removable Chrome Covers: The Rockford Fosgate Punch P4002 amplifier features dual removable chrome covers. One of the covers conceals all speaker, signal, remote, power and ground connections, as well as the gain and crossover frequency controls for a cleaner installation.

Cast Aluminum Heatsink: The cast aluminum heatsink dissipates heat generated by the amplifier's circuitry. The inherent advantage of casting provides a 30% improvement of cooling over conventional extrusion heatsink designs.

MEHSA (Maximum Efficiency Heat Sink Application): MEHSA is a Rockford Fosgate proprietary process that increases the heat transfer from the MOSFET devices to the heatsink. The multi-layer insulated metal MEHSA substrate operates with minimal thermal resistance, spreading heat both downward and outward to quickly dissipate heat from each device across the heatsink. This allows greater power output, enhanced thermal stability, and maximum reliability.

TOPAZ (Tracking Operation Pre-Amplifier Zone): TOPAZ is a circuit that simply eliminates noise. The TOPAZ circuit allows the amplifier ground to move with the source unit ground, creating a "noise elimination" zone just before the preamp section. If there is any noise in the ground coming down the RCA line to the amplifier, TOPAZ amazingly tracks it down and eliminates it. The result is a 30-40dB improvement of the isolation between input ground and chassis ground.

Trans-ANA (TRANSconductance Active Nodal Amplifier): The trans-ANA is a circuit that allows the audio signal to pass through the amplifier at low voltage. The signal is directly level-shifted to the fixed high voltage rails via a pair of drive transistors. Signal linearity is assured by an active node formed  by the drive transistors at ultrasonic frequencies. The result is crystal clear sound quality.

NOMAD (NOn-Multiplying Advanced Decision): NOMAD is an intelligent protection circuit that uses an analog computer to make real time decisions regarding temperature, voltage, current and impedance. The unit is protected without limiting sound output unless needed.

DSM (Discrete Surface Mount): In the manufacturing process high speed robotics are used to place 0% tolerance resistors and large board traces providing greater reliability and efficiency.

TO-247 MOSFET: The Punch P4002 utilizes ultra high performance MOSFET output devices, giving the amplifier more power handling capability as well as lower thermal impedance for more reliable operation, even under the harshest load conditions.

Internal Crossover: The amplifier's internal crossover is a 12dB/octave Butterworth filter selectable for high-pass, all-pass (full range) or low-pass operation variable from 40Hz to 400Hz.

Remote Punch Bass: The Punch Bass helps correct for acoustical deficiencies in the listening environment by helping reproduce full range sound without adding excessive boost. The Punch Bass control has a narrow band adjustment centered at 45Hz, variable from 0dB to +18dB. Using the mounting bracket, the supplied Punch Bass wired remote can be mounted in any convenient location. The module's case can be configured with the bracket above or below the module, or, without the case, mounted flush in your vehicle's dash (requires a 2" x 7/8" cutout with a maximum thickness of 3/8"). The wired remote is 2.281" wide, 1.214" tall and 1.509" deep (2.471" including the knob and cable connection). The included cable is 16.25' in length.

RCA Pass-Thru Jacks: The pass-thru jacks provide a convenient source for daisy-chaining an additional amplifier without running an extra set of RCA cables from the front of the vehicle to the amplifier location. The pass-thru jacks output a full-range signal.

Power Indicator and Protection LEDs: The RF logo, located on the top left of the amplifier, illuminates when the unit is turned on. The "Swirl" portion of the logo illuminates with the output signal level. A yellow "Protect" LED, located next to the RF logo, illuminates if a short circuit or too low of an impedance is detected at the speaker connections. Another yellow LED, labeled "Thermal", illuminates if the amplifier overheats. The amplifier will automatically shut down if either of the two LEDs indicate amplifier trouble.

Inputs and Outputs Notes

Power Connections: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated captive c-clamp wire connectors and will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on terminal will accept wire sizes of 12- to 24-gauge. A Phillips-head or slotted screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Speaker Connections: The 2-channel nickel-plated clamp wire connectors will accept wire sizes of 8- to 18-gauge. A Phillips-head or slotted screwdriver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals.

Remote Punch Bass Connection: An RJ-45 jack is provided for connecting the supplied Remote Punch Bass cable.

Specifications

CEA-2006 Compliance: The specifications given by Rockford Fosgate for the Punch P4002 amplifier comply with the new CEA-2006 Amplifier Power Standard from the CEA (Consumer Electronics Association). All manufacturers who comply with the standard can display the CEA-2006 logo on their product.

Performance Verification Certificate: Each amplifier comes with a Performance Verification Certificate which lists the results of a 10-point performance inspection as well as a measurement of the actual power output.
