Enclosure Construction: The enclosure is made of 5/8" high spec MDF (medium-density fiberboard) for superior rigidity and durability.
High Density Carpet: The high density industrial grade carpet is designed for the automotive environment.
Angled Rear Panel: The rear panel is angled for universal fit in a wide variety of SUVs, hatchbacks, and trunks.
High-Flow Ports: The two high-flow ports maximize acoustical output while minimizing the noise and distortion typical of traditional bass-reflex systems.
Enclosure Impedance: The enclosure is loaded with two 12" woofers, each having dual 4-ohm voice coils. Each woofer's voice coils are wired in series, giving each terminal on the enclosure an 8-ohm load. When the terminals are wired in parallel with each other, the woofers present a 4-ohm mono load. When the terminals are wired in series with each other, the enclosure presents a 16-ohm mono load. In addition, each terminal may be connected to a different amplifier channel and each channel will see an 8-ohm load.
Woofers: The cones are constructed of molded polypropylene. Polypropylene is lightweight and strong, giving the woofer high power handling and low distortion.
High Excursion Large Roll Surrounds: A large edge roll surround allows Punch woofers to produce 20% more linear excursion than standard surrounds, resulting in more bass output.
Parabolic Triangular Cone Geometry Support System: By bonding a polypropylene parabolic dust cap of equivalent size to the cone body, a balanced triangular structure is created. This system reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.
Linear Spiders: A compliant linear spider improves mechanical stability under high excursion, maintaining consistent excursion characteristics. This eliminates the need for a "break-in period."
Spider Support Rings: This integrated ring increases the bonding surface area between the voice coil former and spider, establishing a stronger joint. The result is increased mechanical power handling under high power/high excursion situations.
Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Formers: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.
Precision Cast Aluminum Alloy Baskets: A two-piece "basket in a bucket" design adds rigidity and eliminates multiple acoustic resonances. Additionally, the large aluminum mass helps reduce voice coil former temperature and increase power handling.
Double Stacked Magnet Motor Assemblies: The stacked magnet assembly on each woofer is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.
Binding Posts: The enclosure has two sets of durable, high-current binding posts that will accept up to 4-gauge wire.
Warranty Note: The warranty only applies to the speakers, not the enclosure.
