Amazing bass!!

Jason from Alexandria, VA on 2/27/2019

Amazing! Had them matched with a Prime R500-1 (from 2011), in a dual 10 inch sealed enclosure. Professionally built. Let me tell you, the detail in the bass was amazing! For that incredible clarity you must go SEALED box, with dual 10 inch subs. Like I did. Unfortunately, the subs and amp burnt out after about 8 years of amazing performance. Not sure if the recent rear end collision my car received played a part (fender bender).... Either way, I've ordered the punch version of the speakers, and the R500X1D. I'm rebuilding my setup!! Yay me!!! Music is not the same without this.

Pros: tight bass, sealed, adult bass, clean, loud, detailed, clear

Cons:

A Well-Behaved Sub

Crutchfield customer from Merced, CA on 8/20/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub is exactly what I wanted. It isn't thumps, bumpy, peaky or obnoxious. It seems flat, smooth and fills in the lowest octave and a half seamlessly. I'm not trying to rattle the sheet metal or wake up the neighborhood, but if music has a fat kick or low bass, I want to hear it. And now I do.

Pros: Not too big considering the lows it puts out. Well built and finished.

Cons: No front protection for the woofer cones.

Features

Enclosure: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R1-2X10 is a sealed enclosure constructed of 5/8" MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). The enclosure is covered with high density black carpeting. The sealed enclosure features high current compression terminals on the left side of the box (when facing the woofer). The terminals will accommodate up to 12 AWG speaker wire and present a 2Ω load to your amplifier.

Dimensions:

  • Width: 30-1/8"
  • Height: 12-1/8"
  • Depth (base): 12-1/8" (12-7/8" including the subwoofer)
  • Depth (top): 7-1/8" (7-7/8" including the subwoofer)

Woofer: The R1-2X10 enclosure is loaded with two Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S4-10 subwoofers. Each R1S4-10 is a 10-inch, 4Ω-ohm single voice coil subwoofer with a fiber reinforced painted paper-pulp cone and compressed foam surround. The two subs are wired in parallel inside the box, to present a 2Ω load.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S4-10 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

Why did you buy this?

Just enough bass for the daily! [ Juan  Sep 14, 2018 ]
For a conventional SUV 4 Runner it's ideal for the cargo compartment, I have bought Rockford Fosgate speaker previously and I like the clear and crispy sound [ Iran  Aug 26, 2018 ]
it will just fit behind the back seat of my wrangler [ Mark  Jul 14, 2018 ]

The subs should be wired internally to a 2 ohm impedance. If you are having troubles with the amp going into protect, distorted sound, or anything else our tech support would be your best resource. If you purchased the sub from Crutchfield they are available 7 days a week to help troubleshoot. If for some reason the sub was wired incorrectly from the manufacturer we are authorized Rockford Fosgate dealers and can help you replace it through warranty. Either way you can contact us here: https://bit.ly/2QNxGQB --Cosmo [ Cosmo  Jan 07, 2019 ]  Staff
"Wired backwards" isn't clear about the problem. Do you think the polarity is backwards? Do you think they are wired series instead of parallel? There is no problem with mine. [ Bushman  Jan 07, 2019 ]
I have the same setup. I haven't opened it up yet to check this but I'm having a issue with the amp going into protect. [ TONY  Jan 07, 2019 ]
Not quite sure. I do not believe it will because the box is too deep. I would purchase a correct box and shallow mount subs. [ Brock  Sep 26, 2018 ]
This depends on the free space behind the seat. I believe different truck manufacturers have different space dimensions. I suggest using a tape measure to find out this free space, then reading the R1-2X10 spec sheet to see if it will fit in. Only you can tell. [ Michael  Sep 26, 2018 ]
I would say no, unless you are really short. I was looking to put mine in a 2015 Chevrolet 4-door truck, under the back seat, but it is way too big. Check the box dimensions in the specs section for the exact measurements. [ Marty  Sep 26, 2018 ]
It should nice and thin. .there are no screens on it though [ FRANK  Sep 26, 2018 ]
You will need to measure the space behind your seat. The densions of the box are 30-1/8"W x 12-3/16"H x 12-1/8"D [ Kyle  Sep 25, 2018 ]
We have this 10" waffle-style grille that you can use with the Rockford 10" R1 sub: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_125G10/Speaker-Grilles-10-waffle-style.html For more details or to discuss further, feel free to contact an Advisor directly by phone (888.955.6000) or online chat.
