Decent sound for the price. Obviously don't produce much bass but lots better than the nothing I had before.

Pros: Good price.

Cons: Not much range

Decent speaker for the price. Definitely not going to wow you. About the same or just a little better than factory. Was expecting a little more from Rockford Fosgate.

Pros: Rear speakers fit rear deck perfectly in my 2002 Honda Civic Lx 4 door.

Cons: The front door speaker brackets needed to be cut short with a dremel so the speaker would go flush with door. Needed to use self-tapping screws to mount to the door.

For the Rockford Fosgate R1525X2 price it's a good value! My 99 Honda Passport called for 4 inch speakers in the back cargo roof. I did take a dremel and used the cardboard cutout Cruthchfield sent along with those R1525X2. After I took the dremel to the metal, I also had to shave down that stock 99 Honda Passport cargo roof speaker strip cover on the inside I'll say.

Pros: Good Price!

Installed in the original holes in the doors of my 1975 Ford F250. Fit perfectly, had to drill 1 hole in each door for mounting as expected. Easy wiring and they sound decent, a little weak on the bass side but I expected that from a pair of 2 way speakers. The online chat guy was awesome and got me exactly what I was looking for. I'm selling the truck so I was looking for basic sound and someone else can add other speakers in the future.

Great speaker for the money. Have a 40x4 Fosgate amp going to the speaker for power. Wow! The amp woke these guys up!! It amazing how a 20 speaker can sound so crisp and clean. I think for 40 bucks they can't be beat. Impressed!

Pros:

Cons: The power spikes on the back of speaker were fighting the spade connectors in the worst way. Thought I was going to break it

I just purchased a toy hauler and the interior speakers lack in quality. I was skeptical on keeping my stock radio, and just run these on 7 watts each. It turns out there was significant improvement on just upgrading the speakers themselves. If I had the money I would definitely get an amp for them. But overall this speakers did turn my sound stage around in my trailer. A+++

Not much bass, despite letting them break in as one reviewer recommended. The tweeters are harsh, but maybe that is just the low power of my factory radio.

Pros: Inexpensive.

Cons: Smaller than Ford factory speakers. Bass suffers.

Crutchfield response on 4/3/2019
We're sorry you're disappointed with your speakers. That's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. What you can expect to hear from a new speaker is better clarity and definition in the mids and highs. So your music will sound better and more lifelike, but you might not hear more bass. The only way to get more bass is to add more power, and if you want to keep the factory radio, that means adding an amplifier. A small (40-50 watts), 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio. That'll improve all the sound, but you'll especially hear it in the fullness of the bass. Whenever you are not completely satisfied with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-955-9091. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.

I was putting together a budget install for my daily driver, 2010 Ford Focus SE sedan, and these fit the bill nicely. I purchased two sets (front and rear doors) . They were an inexpensive replacement for the factory speakers that had began to dry rot.

Pros: - Inexpensive - Easy install (with included harness and brackets) - Handle power surprisingly well

Cons: - Struggle with low end (this was remedied by using an amp with a crossover to filter out low end frequencies)

The stock speakers I pulled out had more bass. Ended up going with some Morel Maximo 5 1/4's that sound significantly better, although are more expensive.

Pros: Price, clarity, grill looks nice

Cons: No bass, meh overall sound

This was sooo simple. From the ordering process, quick delivery, ease of installation (with the speaker adapter) , all necessary wiring and factory oem connectors . Buying from Crutchfield is a home run, all you need to do is swing by ordering from these people. They are the real deal in service and product quality. I put Rockford Fosgate speakers in as a replacement in an old Chevy Astro van I use to haul stuff. What a difference in sound quality.

Pros: It's ALL GOOD.

These aren't actually 5.25" speakers. Maybe if you measured from mounting tab to mounting tab they'd be 5.25", but honestly they're more about 4.5". If I had known this I would have bought something else. The adapter plates that came with them are a joke as well. It took me too long to mount the speakers to the plates, then re-drill the mounting hole in the plates to the doors (About 4 hours for both rear doors). Now that they're in, the sound quality is mediocre at best. Good highs, mids are a little much and obviously nothing for bass. I got better bass from factory speakers until they rotted out.

Pros:

Cons:

Crutchfield response on 10/1/2018
- Car speaker sizing can be one of most confusing things we deal with on a daily basis here at Crutchfield, and it helps to think of speakers in categories instead of sizes. Measuring a speaker will never yield the same number as its category, as this customer pointed out in their comment. To help our customers, we decided to take the research we did on speaker locations in various vehicles and translate that into what fits from the measurements we actually take from the speakers we sell. We hoped to eliminate some of the confusion and not mislead customers. These sizes are not always indicative of what the factory speaker size was. In any event, you can find out more about identifying speaker "sizes" here. We're sorry you're disappointed with your speakers. Whenever you are not completely satisfied with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-955-9091. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.

Zero bass response. What bass I can hear is distorted because I have to turn the volume up so far. All I hear is high and mid range. The old factory speakers actually sound better. Complete waste of time and money. Hard to believe Crutchfield recommends and sells these. Last order from Crutchfield.

Pros: Price

Cons: Overall performance

Crutchfield response on 9/12/2018
- Jay, we're sorry you're disappointed with your speakers. Adequate/ Disappointed

Crutchfield customer from La Pine, OR on 8/12/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I read all the posted reviews for this product before making this purchase and several mentioned the lack of even moderate bass, I have to agree. Were it not such a hassle to remove this speakers from my Lexus I would have returned them for something better, in fact they really didn't sound a whole lot better than my 23 year old Lexus factory speakers (no exaggeration). The upside of these speakers is they are 4 ohm vs the O.E.M speakers being 2 ohm which definitely allows for higher volume levels, especially if you already have or plan to add an amplifier down the road. I dropped a star due to the overall sound of these speakers (flat IMO) even with my Pioneer 4500 BTS Head unit and all of its adjustments I couldn't get a basic sound stage. In fairness a 5.25 size speaker is NOT going to perform like a 6 or 6.25 but my Lexus only uses the smaller size. Crutchfield sales assures me a smaller compact 50 watt amp will improve the sound stage greatly but for more money, taking my dash apart and running dedicated hardwiring from amp to the engine compartment, not sure I'm convinced that it's worth the effort for an assumed 35 watt improvement. (50 watt amp vs Pioneer's factory 15 watts per channel)

Pros: If your factory mid-range speakers are shot then these will do fine.

Cons: If your after even mediocre bass from these you'll need to look at higher wattage or a larger speaker, even with my Pioneer 4500 BTS Head unit driving these speakers at only 15 watts per channel I quite disappointed at how flat the sound curve was even with the loudness set at low and the EQ setting of the 60 Hz bass level graph segment set (2) bars below max.

Poor low end at high volume

Crutchfield customer from Marysville, OH on 7/29/2018

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Giving only 2 stars because these cannot take a lot of low frequency volume. They distort quite badly when turned up and not clipped at 125Hz. I bought these because of the sale price. But now I wish I hadn't. They produce better than stock highs but the distortion causes me to clip them and at elevate volume my sys sounds unbalanced. (windows down and radio volume up type of situation). At lower volume levels they are pretty good for the sale price I paid. To to it over again I'd have used a stock size replacement instead of these. (98 ford ranger std cab rear positions)

Pros: Price and highs

Cons: Low frequency distortion at moderate volume.

These speakers perform well and do an excellent job with what they were designed to do. Too many times you see reviews about speakers not performing well. These particular speakers are designed to perform well with a power source coming from a nice aftermarket head unit. I used a nice Kenwood Excelon that I also purchased at the same time through Crutchfield. I didn't pair the Kenwood to a pair of speakers with a 300 watt RMS rating because if I did, I would be giving the unit and the speakers a poor rating. Understanding power requirements for your components is extremely important when purchasing. Remember, more expensive doesn't mean it's going to sound better; it depends on the application, wattage being driven to the speakers and quality of the source. These particular little Rockfords sound just about perfect paired to the quality 22 watts RMS coming from the Kenwood Excellon. Thanks Crutchfield for the quality, fast shipping and ALL of the complimentary speaker adapters, wiring adapters and especially the detailed instructions. No other company can offer the value.

Pros: Quality, low power requirements.

Cons: None at this time.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Well, where do I begin? I bought these to replace the oem paper speakers in my 2002 Subaru WRX. These speakers weren't a cheap no-name, bottom of the barrel option. They were on sale, sure, but that shouldn't mean they suck, right? WRONG. Holy cow these are terrible! No bass, no mids, but all the treble you would ever want! I would sincerely love a genuine answer as to why these are such unmitigated dumptser fires. They sound like a louder version of someone's earbuds blasting from across the room. And I paid my hard earned money on these...so I called Crutchfield. I spoke with a rep who told me that I'm expecting too much from these speakers. Well can anyone point me to the non-sucking speakers? He offered to sell me a subwoofer (amazing sales-uh I mean technical support) to balance out the sound, but if I were to do that, where would my mids come from? From here on out I'm taking my business elsewhere. If I'm going to have to settle for no one knowing what they're talking about, I might as well get the best prices.

Pros: I'll let you know if I find any

Cons: No mids, no bass. It's a 5 1/4" tweeter ffs.

We're sorry for the problems with adding speakers to your Mazda. Our OutfitMyCar application shows our customers what fits from the products we carry. Since each factory speaker location has different dimensions, aftermarket speakers from the same size category may not fit due to these dimensions. We have no reason to mislead customers, and we certainly would've recommended more 6x8 speaker options if their dimensions fit within what we measured in the Mazda. One of our customer support experts, Clint, responded to this customer and set him up with free shipping for a return and refund on the speakers he purchased.

Great value on a replacement for the factory speakers in my 2006 Chevy Trailblazer. Rep at Crutchfield was very helpful in finding these fit me. Local shop tried to up-sell me on some high end speakers. Rep at Crutchfield informed me since I have just the stock radio and no amp that I wouldn't even get enough wattage to the high ends to benefit and found these as a good fit. They sound better than the stocks ever did. Decent base and clean sounding mid tones.

I'm very happy with my purchase of these speakers for our 2004 Chevy Silverado. They sound so much better than the stock ones did and were a worthy update to go with the new KD-X340BTS radio I had gotten last year from Crutchfield. A good radio with old not so good old stock speakers. Now the speakers have the depth and fidelity to go better with the radio. I LOVE the installation directions and install kits Crutchfield provides. It has made the install of not just these speakers but the radio I installed in our truck last year and the radio I installed in our daughters VW Jetta. With their directions, you CAN install it yourself if you have even a small amount of understanding of what you're doing. The hardest part of the install was fighting with the passenger door panel! I've had them off before but this time was a problem! The actual install with the panel off was a matter of minutes and the included install kit made everything fit perfectly. And that is why I really like buying from Crutchfield!!!

Pros: Economical cost but speakers still sound good. Direct fit replacement with the install kit. Much better than stock sound. The installation kit and directions are the difference between a lot of unnecessary work and being done in a much shorter time.

Cons: As others have mentioned, not very much bass with this install, but the radio has equalizer presets or you can tweak it to sound a bit better.

So far so good. The only complaint I have is that the mounting brackets are a little too deep for the OEM screws to fit into the door of my 325i. I had to find the correct length to make it work. But they sound good. I am happy so far!

I know these are not top-end in terms of price, so I shouldn't expect incredible sound, but I'm honestly pretty disappointed in these. There is no bass response at all. Again, I know they're not designed to thump the earth at 5-1/4", but they flutter out and sound pretty bad at any attempt to fatten the low-end frequencies in the mix. Also, to my ear, they sound pretty tinny and not warm at all. Whether the audio source is a CD, FLAC files from my phone, or Sirius radio, they just do not have a great sound. Certainly better than the cheapo stock speakers in my '06 Tuscon, but I really wish I had spent more to get something better.

Pros: Better than stock in an older vehicle.

Cons: Tinny, non-existent bass response.

- First off, many thanks to Crutchfield for making the installation super easy with the visual diagrams and thorough instructions ( since I've never done anything like this before it did take me a bit over 5 hours to install them myself). Also, I saved over $200 on labor by installing the speakers myself versus paying a technician to install the speakers for me. The reason for the purchase was one of the base speakers in my '09 Cobalt went out and I finally decided to get the speaker replaced. I've only had them installed for a few days, but they sound incredible, especially for the price. - Side note: I watched a YouTube video on the side to help with the installation, and, on this video, I clipped the wires to the original speaker harness (monkey see, monkey do). DO NOT do that, the speaker harness that comes with the kit is suppose to attach to the original clips and go directly into the speaker ( Don't be an idiot like me). I had to wire them together at that point, which cost be a huge delay. - The only other downside is that the new speakers in the front of my car sound WAY better than the sound coming from the original speakers in the back, there is a noticeable difference (but, I don't know if I want to spend the extra money to replace them for even sound throughout, since they are still working).

Pros: -Sound great for the price -Easy installation

Cons: -None that I'm aware of at this time

Bought to replace 20 year old factory speakers that were completely knacked. I had recently replaced my 4 rear deck speakers, 4" rockfords being 2 of them. Being happy with them I ordered ones for the front doors. Only took me around 2 hours to install both Thank you Crutchfield for the speaker to factory wiring connectors. For the price these speaker have a good upper bass, mids and highs. To me money well spent and a good company to deal with.

Pros: Easy to install in my car. Has very good upper bass frequencies, mids and highs. Pretty darn good for a speaker of this cost. Factory speakers were way beyond their sell by date.

Cons: Just installed them 2 days ago so shall see how they do.
