I like more compared to R1675x3

I bought a pair of these (R1675x2) and a pair of R165x3. Comparing those two, i like these so much more. The sound was a lot deeper that the 3 way speaker. And the size for better on my 2012 Sierra crew cab.

Pros: Bass

I've been a huge rockford fosgate fan, since the early days. These are fantastic sounding speakers, for being their entry level line. I added them in all 4 doors, in my 2017 chevy cruze hatchback. I added 2 rockford punch 8" subs, to get the bass I was missing, with the factory stereo. Was still not the sound I wanted, sounded muddy. Got these, and all the install stuff included with them. Was amazed how well these balanced it all out, with mid-bass and highs. Just using the factory head unit to push these. I highly recommend them to anyone. Im sure amplified, they would sound even better. Thanks Crutchfield, for being a great supplier of all things audio.

Good speakers, terrible mounting brackets.

Felipe from Los Angeles, CA on 1/14/2021

2008 Scion xB

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I finally installed these speakers over the weekend and while the performance of the speakers is good the accompanying speaker brackets left a lot to be desired. I cannot speak about the fitment of the Metra 82-8148 Speaker Mounting Brackets in other cars but in my 2008 Scion xB they did not fit without extensive modifications. Not ONE of the mounting holes, bracket to door or speaker to bracket, lined up and I had to elongate or enlarge them. On top of that, the hardware provided had mounting screws that were too long and the nuts are of flimsy stamped tin. This is not my first time installing car stereo equipment of any kind and if I did not already have other hardware and tools to modify the brackets I received, the installation process is too much for first time or novice users. It was very frustrating having to deal with speaker brackets that are allegedly designed for my application. I can only speak for my application, 2008 Scion xB, and I presume other reviewers have had no issues with the Metra 82-8148 Speaker Mounting Brackets, but if you own a car like mine please be forewarned that it's not an easy installation. You WILL have to spend a considerable amount of time trying to install these speakers. I usually have no qualms with Crutchfield products but this one is a big fail in my opinion.

Pros: Good speakers

Cons: Terrible mounting brackets.

Instant up grade over factory speaker. Have replaced the speakers in the sail panels several times each with oem speakers. Factory monsoon system will power these and they sound ok for the price. The big problem is the monsoon system itself. Wiring is a little strange as there are 4 wires in factory harness and only two connection points on this speaker. Fit the opening and bolted right in. I wish I would have bought these or something similar years ago.

Pros: perfect fit in opening

Cons: none

2017 Ford Escape Se Non-Sony Sound Sys.

Crutchfield customer from LAKE ELSINORE, CA on 12/28/2020

2017 Ford Escape

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Good bang for the buck. A definite upgrade from stock with a good price point. As for the installation of the driver side door, which was the first door I did took about an hour or so which is longer than I expected. There was some trial and error that needed to be worked through in-order to complete installation of the first speaker. On the 2017 Ford Escape Se with non-Sony system you will need to cut the tabs on the speaker adapters Crutchfield supplies or they will not fit this speaker. You will also have to use short 1/2 inch screws to secure the new speaker to the adapter bracket. At least 3 in a triangle pattern. The long ones supplied stick out too far on the other side and won't allow the unit to sit flush when attempting to re-install. You will also need to cut a notch out of the adapter to allow for the plug harness to fit through and plug into the factory plug. Finally, the speaker wire harnesses that Crutchfield supplied are opposite of what the speakers are when it comes to the negative and positive on the speaker. The connectors won't fit as the connectors are two different sizes wherein the small connector matches the large negative tab on the speaker but does not fit. As such, you need to snip the small end and crimp on a large connector to fit the negative of the speaker. The large + connector will fit the small + tab on the speaker and so need to change that one out. It'll work you will just be using one side of the connector rather than the whole thing.

Been an audiophile for a long time, and was skeptical about what these would sound like for the price. They are obviously not top of the line gear, and they are not supposed to be. However, if you are looking for something that sounds great at an exceptional value, these are FANTASTIC! 5 Stars for sound versus cost!

Pros: Value Very good sound quality

Cons: With low cost you get a thin mounting edge - use as many screws as you can to get a solid mount without distorting the ring.

2017 Mustang base 6 speaker system

Crutchfield customer from Laceys Spring, AL on 11/25/2020

2017 Ford Mustang

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Installed in a 2017 mustang with base 6 speaker system. Installed these in the doors. Opted to leave the OEM tweeters in place because they are actually pretty good. They sound better than OEM. However, the OEM speaker was a 'component' type woofer that makes more bass than these do. Not an issue because I also added a 10" sub and small amp to provide the bass. System sounds pretty good and clean. Wont shake your teeth out. But, a huge upgrade from OEM. If you are not adding a sub/amp, I would not recommend replacing the OEM speakers in these cars if you are leaving the OEM head unit in place because you will lose bass. Overall, hard to beat the quality and sound of these for the price.

Pros: Quality for the price

Cons: They don't make the low bass that the OEM door speakers in these mustangs make. So don't do it unless you are adding a sub as well.

After reading reviews from customers and feedback from Crutchfield techs, I purchased these to replace worn out stock speakers. Reviewers apparently had not installed these in a 2013 civic with a stock head unit. Speaker was well made, but sound was horrible - No bass and harsh highs. Crutchfield was amazing in allowing the return. Probably a good speaker, but not in my situation. An external amp will be needed to get the most out of these.

Amazing speakers! The only issue was the mounting brackets that were sent with them free from Crutchfield they were the Metra 82-8148 speaker mounting brackets. But that's a different review. The speakers themselves are heart quality and sound amazing I upgraded from a stock Toyota system and for $45 these were a great choice!

I am using these as the speakers for the back doors of my car and, for the price, they are incredible. I am not using an external amp, but I can get some pretty good bass to come out of these. I'm really surprised and I definitely recommend these.

Pros: Good bass considering I'm using the amps from my head unit Really good considering the price

Cons: Not really anything

I used these to replace my nine-year-old factory speakers in my 2011 Silverado. How do they sound? Outstanding! Clear, responsive, and they come with a bit of bass as well. The install wasn't too tricky either after I figured out how to modify the mounting bracket. I broke out the inner tabs of the mount and then used a dremell reposition the holes. The holes were up against the edge, but it worked. Overall, impressive inexpensive speakers and the install kit made it a breeze.

Pros: The sound!

Good speakers for factory radio

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

The speakers sound great with the factory stereo in my 2011 Silverado LT 1500. Bass has good thump and full range is good. The adapter plugs make for an easy install. The mounting brackets on the other hand were a pain in the .ss. There were no instructions included and you had to cut out the interior circumference pieces for the speakers to fit and then screw directly into the face of the bracket to secure the speaker to the bracket. Once secured they went in easily and lined up with factory bolt hole in door. Be good to have some instructions with the mounting brackets.

Pros: sound is impressive at this price range, installation was simplified with included adapters

Cons: brackets are universal and will need modification to mount the rockford fosgate speakers, be patient

Solid sounds for a low price stock replacement speaker. Replaced all four doors in my 2011 KIA Soul with these. Made a large difference in clarity, especially at higher volumes. These are a low-cost easy upgrade to any factory system. I also paired these 4 door speakers with a 6" Kicker sub to replace the factory subwoofer. The combination of these changes has drastically changed the sound quality of my factory system. Now I can even feel the bass with the new kicker sub. my only con is I would have purchased the 8" instead of the 6". Regardless, my Soul is rocking now.

Great replacement for factory duds

Crutchfield customer from Decatur, GA on 8/2/2020

2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

My factory front door kick panel speakers in the 07 Silverado 1500 Classic regular cab pickup had dry rotted and produced no sound. I did not need a powerful sound system, so I opted for a system that sounds great on a budget and adds some great low cost features: streaming music (via phone apps), backup camera and navigation (via CarPlay). I matched these speakers to a Sony XAV-AX1000 receiver that only produces 20 watts RMS per channel. The flush profile meant they installed easily with the grilles under the panel and still did not require any modifications to the door panel. I used HVAC foil tape on the front and back of the mounting slots for the factory speaker assembly, transferred the round rubber weatherstripping from the factory speakers to these, and drilled four holes to mount these Rockford Fosgate R1675X2 speakers. The sturdy foil tape keeps sound from the back of the speakers from reaching the front and the opposite sound waves cancelling each other out. The water barrier was pealing loose in a few places so I used the tape around the edge of it as well. Using the grilles was necessary so the edges of the cones did not constantly contact the round plastic edge on the inside of the door panel since these speakers are 1 1/2" wider than factory, and it worked because the factory speakers sit higher above the mounting surface. I used recommended connector adapters so that was a snap. The second door took under 15 minutes after I carefully figured the first one out.

Pros: Sounds great, easy flush install w/o protruding 2- or 3-way tweeters, affordable

Cons: Low RMS wattage rating means they can't handle much power

Good product and price, purchased to pair with the Rockford component speakers for the front doors. Since they are in the rear deck of a 2009 Accord, I don't notice them as much as the fronts, but they seem to perform as needed. Only one issue with the install, none of the holes seemed to line up correctly with the included brackets. I just drilled out two new holes and all called it good. I can't speak to how these would perform if they were the primary front speakers, but I expect they would do the job if component speakers are not an option.

Good factory speaker upgrade

2020 Subaru Crosstrek

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I used the speakers to replace the rear door speakers on a 2020 Crosstrek with the RF Subaru upgraded system with a Flex 41 amp. While these speakers cannot compete with higher priced speakers this is not the point of these speakers. What they can do is easily replace the factory speakers and are easy to drive. The bass is about the same extension as the factory speakers, but the Fosgates take it up a notch in terms of clarity. The mids also take things up a notch in terms of clarity as well. The highs are a little more extended and clear as well as compared to the factory speakers. These were a perfect choice to replace the rear door speakers within my modest system. A real winner for the money. As others have stated the adapter rings take a bit of modding. I drilled new holes to match the speaker holes and used blue silicone gasket sealant along with small screws to attach and seal the speaker to the bracket.

Pros: easy to drive provides added clarity and extension over factory speakers

Cons: Not as extended or clear as higher end speakers, but at this price one cannot complain.

These speakers thump! If the sound is off you need a new stereo to adjust sound and get rid of some distortion. I tried using these with my stock stereo and it they were better than stock but I heard some distortion. After my new stereo was put in I couldn't be happier! The speakers kick hard, air is pushed onto my legs and my seat vibrates. Sound is crisp and the speaker quality is awesome. 10/10 would recommend.

An entry level speaker w/ light weight magnet. Makes a pretty noise, but don't ask too much from this. Focal is probably a better choice for more serous listeners or amping things up a bit.

These speakers are a huge improvement over the stock speakers. The 2 way speakers add a nice mid-range punch. The bass is outstanding. Clean highs from existing tweeters, I should have picked up new ones, but they do a very good job. The installation was easy. I practiced with the rear door speakers first. Ease of installation is more a function of the vehicle, not the speakers. All the necessary installation hardware was provided. The speakers fit perfectly into the existing openings. A few small pilot holes to start the screws, and that was it. The wiring harness provided fit perfectly to the existing harness in the car. Highly recommended.

Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Bought R165x3 speakers for the front of my 3rd Gen Tacoma pickup and these for the rear doors as the 3 way speakers did not fit according to the website. Dropped right in and are a nice upgrade for my non JBL system. However these speakers do not sound as loud as the front speakers. This may be because they are not as efficient (though the specs say they are identical) or it may be a stock stereo issue. I probably can hear the difference now because the sound produced from the upgrades speakers has so much more clarity in the high and midrange. As rear speakers are more for back fill I'm quite happy with the performance and would highly recommend this speaker as a factory upgrade option.

Pros: Nice high and midrange response

Cons: Does not appear to be as efficient as the 3 way speakers (R165x3)

Better than having two blown speakers but way to much high end and pretty much no bass. Also had to modify the risers they came with to make them fit. I'll be replacing them soon. You get what you pay for.

Pros: Cheap Clear audio

Cons: No bass

Excellent Sound but the Metra 82-8148 Speaker Mounting Brackets no fit correctly with this Speakers. The speaker holes don't align with the mounting brackets. You have to bend the screws a little so that they made fit and the speakers stay on the brackets. Same thing happen with the Rockford Fosgate P1692 6x9" and the Metra 82-8146 Speaker Mounting Brackets. What I think is that these speakers are much better quality for the for the brackets that Crutchfield provides when you buying these speakers for LEXUS, TOYOTAS 2000 AND UP It's my own personal opinion.

I could not handle the factory speakers in my 2020 Silverado. I have a budget and these met it. So, I thought I would give these speakers a try and replace the front door units. Thanks to the wiring harness and mounting brackets supplied by crutchfield, the process was very easy. The sound is a great improvement over factory. Now i really want to replace the rear door units. All in good time...

I regret my purchase. I should have buy any other cheaper speakers. They sound good but not as what I recall being this brand. I should have put few more dollars for pioneer. Then you get a free plastic adapter that doesn't fit. I had to cut so much to make them fit that a t the end I spent more money on tools than what I saved form buying here and thinking it would fit perfect and be a simplet plug and play. I could have bought something similar that would have fit better most likely.

Pros: They look nice. The only thing that worked as I expected was the metra cable adapter.

Cons: they don't sound as crisp as I recall. The plastic adapter that comes free took so much work to fit them.

I bought two sets of these for two different Subaru models we currently own. These are for the back doors. We've own Rockford Fosgates before and were very happy with them. I did not change the radios in the Subaru so I didnt want speakers that would require a lot of power before they sound good. The Rockford Fosgates I picked are so much better than the factory speakers. The supplied adapters are required for the Subaru. Just take your time. You'll have to remove all the center tabs in the adapters. Line the speaker up against the adapter. Mark areas to be drilled with a silver sharpie. Drill pilot holes without the speaker in the adapter. The supplied screws are too long for the Subaru Outback rear doors. Shorter screw are required. The included harness adapters made it very easy to connect. Al in all, I reccomend Rockford Fosgate and Crutchfield to everyone.

Pros: Great replacenet for factory speakers. Decent price.

Cons: Adapters needed to be altered a bit to work in the Subaru Outback rear doors.

Just upgraded all four door speakers and they sound great! A bit louder and the sound is way clearer. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the speakers. Although the mounts came with predrilled holes, I still had to drill my own holes because they didn't match up quite right. I also had to find some spare screws since the screws that came with the speakers were too long. I only had that problem with the rear doors though. A big upgrade compared to the stock speakers.

Pros: Louder and clearer

Cons: Had to use some of my own screws and drill my own holes

Decent Speakers...HORRIBLE INSTALL...NOT HAPPY

Stallion from HONOLULU, HI on 3/15/2020

2018 Honda Fit Sport

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

This was probably the second most difficult install I've ever done. I already knew how to quickly remove the door panels from my car (2018 Honda Fit) so this should have taken me 30 minutes tops for 4 speakers, BUT THE SPEAKERS BARELY FIT THE BRACKETS, & the included screws are WAY TOO long for this install. I had to obtain my own screws that were about 1/2 the length of the included screws. The speakers fit in only ONE orientation with the included bracket (HSB524). This install ended up taking like 3 hours b/c I kept trying to figure out how these things would fit. & no help from Crutchfield b/c they were closed when I called. Ultimately, I was ready to just return these & go with 6.5s, but I figured it out. I'm still not happy with the duration of this install. I don't have a lot of free time, & this install that should have been cut & dry was way prolonged. Had I known that going with the 6.75" speakers would be such a hassle, I would've just gotten 6.5". Crutchfield should pull this speaker from the list of speakers that fit my car. And to add insult to injury, I was on my last speaker when I grabbed the final bracket to screw it to the door & one of the two bottom clips was hanging off so I had to head upstairs & superglue it & let it dry for 10 more minutes before installing it. Then while installing it I had to drill a hole at 11 'o clock b/c it was missing. I got a dud bracket. Ugh. Speakers sound good, but may be my last time trusting Crutchfield, unfortunately.

Pros: Good sounding speakers. Probably a little better than OEM in my car, but not by a landslide.

Cons: Install took way too long and I don't have a lot of free time. Crutchfield no help b/c they were closed at the time. Speakers barely fit the included bracket. One of the brackets arrived damaged, and I had to repair it myself with superglue to finish the install.

They are great replacement speakers for factory doors and well worth the price but a cheaper price has a cost, they are better in every way except bass for it was basically the same results as stock just cleaner and better sound quality,I've had them for about 3 weeks now without an amp and they sound alot clearer, would recommend having an small amplifier to add bass but other then that they are awesome for the price, I suggest these with a small amp and I guarantee they will surprise you. The installation was pretty simple, had to make some of my own modifications to the adapter in order for the speakers to sit flush but got it all figured out and finished in about an hour. I'm Pretty satisfied with my purchase, Crutchfield has legit branded products at its cheapest price, can't ask for anymore then that, won my service with excellent service

I've been a fan of Rockford Fosgate for 20 years and these speakers have met all my expectations. You can't beat the quality.. especially for the price. I usually go for the "Punch" series, but being on a tighter budget I figured I'd give the "Prime" series a shot.. and I am 100% satisfied with these. My factory speakers were 2 ohm, which was fine with the factory radio, but with my aftermarket stereo recommending 4 to 8 ohm speakers.. these speakers were perfect "plug n play" replacements being 4 ohm. No loss in volume or power.. they sound amazing!

For the money, I don't think you can beat these speakers. I installed them in the rear deck of my 2018 Mustang. The installation was fairly involved as both rear side panels had to be removed. The speaker wire adapters and mounting brackets made the installation much easier. I had to file two notches under each bracket so the speaker would sit flush. These are a much fuller sounding speaker than the factory units. They have a lot of mid bass, which is what I was looking for as I had already added a powered sub. You can't go wrong with these. I think I will leave the door speakers alone as they balance well with these.

Pros: Good value.

Cons: None of he holes line up for the mounting brackets.

Rockford Fosgate R1675X2 sounds alot better than my stock panasonic speakers in my 2011 Honda Pilot. I can hear the mids and the highs better. But not the bass since i did not add a amp to it.

Pros: Can hear the mids and highs alot better.

Cons: need amp for the bass.

good speakers

Jeff from New York, NY on 11/12/2019

These speakers produce a clean sound with Little to no distortion. I am using these on all 4 doors with a stock radio and a kicker key amp. The amp puts out 45 watts per channel which is what the speakers are designed to handle. I drive a 2018 kia sorrento. I am not using a subwoofer. I am satisfied with the full spectrum of sound from the speakers.

Pros: Smooth natural/sharp sound. You get a lot for the amount that these speakers cost.

Cons: Most cars seem to use 6 1/2 rounds and these are 6 3/4 rounds. I had to carefully drill my own holes to mount them. Otherwise no other cons that I can think of. no additional mounts were needed for me.

A great improvement over the OEM speakers that came with the car, the magnets on the Fosgstes are more than twice the size and weight of the original, there was also a noticeable improvement at the low end and the price per pair was good. The only fault during installation is the mounting holes in the speakers didn't exactly line up with the Holes on the included mounting brackets, but not a problem for me, I used a drill to elongate the speaker holes.

Pros: Great sound improvement over the OEMs in my Scion

Cons: Speaker holes didn't match holes on the mounting brackets

2007 Honda civic ex. Basically writing this review for eighth generation civic owners. Instalation is a bit of a hassle. Great speakers. I would recommend the speakers. Instalation: I would recommend insulating the terminals. The termanls shorted out on the metal of the door. Once they were inssulated, no problems. THE ADAPTER BRACKET. The inside tabs were cut out using a blade. The tabs must be removed. Attaching the speaker to the adapter will take some patience with a screw driver. They will fit. THE SCREWS. The screws that come with the speakers (not the adpater bracket) must be cut to fit. This was done easily with wire cutters.

Pros: Sound is as good or better than OEM equippment.

Cons: Installation tricky. Would not recomend for rear deck (with amplifyer).

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

I replaced my treble lacking 2019 Honda Ridgeline front speakers with the R165X3 3 way. Perfectly acceptable sound resulted. The treble is very clearly defined and bright. I though maybe a bit too bright so I bought the R1675X2 2 way and installed in the rear seat, and compared. The 2 way are not nearly as bright and defined as the 3 way so I will leave the 3 way in the front seat for the sound stage and the more base sounding 2 way in the rear seats. If I did not have a sub-woofer then I would probably prefer the 2 way, but with the sub-woofer to offset the 3 way treble it is fine. Without the sub the treble might be a bit much with the 3 way and the R1675X2 might be the better choice.

Pros: Maybe a better choice if no sub-woofer in the car than R165X3. Easy cheap upgrade to poor factory speakers.

These speakers work extremely well. I had a factory radio in my car before I changed everything out and you could hear a huge difference in quality just with the factory radio. I purchased these originally just for my front deck after I blew a factory speaker. Then, I loved them so much I changed my rear ones too with these same exact speakers. They are a good bang for the buck with solid sound quality. Perfect for if you blew out a speaker or you are just looking for that little more power to your sound.

I should've followed the rule "you get what you paid for," i know they're cheap speakers but they are absolutely terrible. I bought these to replace 11 year old oem Honda civic speakers and these sound horrible compared to the stock speakers. There is absolutely no bass and frequency response is horrendous. I have heard some cheap pawn shop brand speakers that sounds so much better than these. These are an absolute pile of trash

Pros: Im still alive

Cons: Im alive to hear these absolutely garbage speakers

Crutchfield response on 6/24/2019
We're sorry you're disappointed with your speakers. That's a common reaction when replacing car speakers. What you can expect to hear from a new speaker is better clarity and definition in the mids and highs. So your music will sound better and more lifelike, but you might not hear more bass. The only way to get more bass is to add more power, and if you want to keep the factory radio, that means adding an amplifier. A small (40-50 watts), 4-channel amp can supply twice the power of an aftermarket stereo and three or four times the power of the typical factory radio. That'll improve all the sound, but you'll especially hear it in the fullness of the bass. Whenever you are not completely satisfied with anything you purchase from Crutchfield, please contact our Customer Support team at 1-800-955-9091. Purchases from Crutchfield can be returned or exchanged within 60 days of the purchase.

Replaced the stock paper speakers on my 2018 Chevy Silverado LT All Star Edition on both front (R1675X2) and rear doors (R165X3). WOW! What an improvement in sounds and with a decent bass. I am using the factory radio. Sound is definitely crisper and fuller than the stock paper one. I like the fact that now you can view Crutchfield's install instructions via PDF file on your smartphone, tablet, or CPU. I did not remove the entire interior door panels (front and rear) to install the speakers. I just remove the screws and opened the lower half of the panel. I used a piece of wood to brace the panel and the door. There was enough room to install by reaching from the bottom of the door. It took me about an hour overall to install these AWESOME speakers. I removed the Rockford Fosgate emblem on the grill and glued them on the door panel grill and one by the stock radio. I used a heat gun to loosen the glue and a pick to lift up the emblem. Now, my Silverado looks like it was upgraded at the factory with Rockford Fosgate. I did have to remove the tabs from the adapters in order for the speakers to sit flat on the adapters and the negative speaker terminal was a tad bigger then the adapter female connection. I did have to remove the tabs from the adapters in order for the speakers to sit flat on the adapters and the negative speaker terminal was a tad bigger then the adapter female connection.

Pros: Good bass, excellent highs, good mid. Easy install. AWESOME Sound compared to stock paper speakers. Affordability.

Cons: Negative terminal speakers just a tad bigger than the female adapter connection. Have to remove the tabs from the speaker adapters.

I was not disappointed, and my daughter was really surprised at the difference in the sound. The mounting holes did not match up well to the brackets, but I was able to make some modifications and I do not know if it is the speakers' fault or the brackets' fault.
