Has a ton of power for such a small amp. Perfect amount of power for my two P2 12''s. They advertise it as 750 watts, but the birth cirtificate says 870. As others have said, Rockford really under rates their products. Big thank you to Buzz for helping me out!

Pros: Compatible, powerful, everything on one side of the amp

Cons: Zero

Nice little amp, that really isn't so little. QC tag showed over 800 watts RMS in 1 ohm. have it driving 2x Rockford Punch P1S2-12 12" 2 Ohm subs, and it sounds amazing. if the kid needs more power, we can get stronger subs and wire them into a 1 ohm load. Easy connectors and runs cool. Love this amp!!!

Pros: Ease of use, power, runs cool.

Cons: None

Nice amp especially when on sale. In terms of specs, the alpine mrv-m500 it replaced might have been a bit better, but honestly it's not a noticeable difference. I'm running it at 2 ohms so the power output is the same. The reason I bought this amp was the option of 1 ohm stability and the variable subsonic filter. I went from a diy sealed box to a diy vented box tuned almost 20hz lower (26hz) so it was a must. Nice amount of power and the gain isn't past 3 after dialing it in.

Pros: Angled terminals for easy insertion of cables when mounted in an amp rack, included gain remote control, top mounted adjustment knobs

Cons: None so far other than the mounting screws I used are hard to secure when the amp is in a vertical position. I didn't use the screws that were included because they were too long, it's just hard to get them aligned with the pilot/screw holes because you can't see the bottom of the mounting holes on the amp.

Great little amp, I was impressed by the small footprint (This is my first D-class mono block amp). Only been using it for a few weeks now. Originally set the gain to roughly 10% and came back later to tune it. Set the gains to max clean output (roughly 30% turned). Using it with a Fosgate T0D212 @ 1ohm (700W RMS) in a ported box. Worlds better than my little 250W RMS amp/sub I had previously. Certificate in the box says my unit was rated at 870W. Its a great way to discover new rattles you never knew about, ha. I chose this one over the Power line 1000W after watching Steve Meade's Amp Test Tuesday youtube video; Half the price and still is a good bang-for-your-buck.

Pros: Great power, small footprint.

Cons: I wish it had the better inputs like the Power series; Im tired of these 45-degree angled-down connectors.

I was very surprised. I was very leery with this purchase. I have never been a fan of Fosgate before due to overheating and lack of response and muddy sound. This was the only amp that i could find that had the required rms power i needed for my 2 - 12" phoenix gold r3. (400rms - 800pk ea) that was of any sort of quality. everything else was too big or too small. I figured that it would be good to stay under the 800 rms by 50 watts (due to a bad habit of mine of burning voice coils to flaming balls). when it showed up, i was even more leery of the size of it........ very small footprint.... i thought to myself..... 'oh great.... another fosgate going overheat and burn out on me with nothing but problems.....' I went ahead an hooked it up, and WOW...... instantly i was very excited (still leery of overheating). I decided to take a drive around the island, about 285 miles give r take, and ran it full capacity, full rms, full volume. at first, i started smelling voice coils..... ugh oh.... turned the gain down a bit feeling a little disappointed. when i got back it ran the entire time, just nice and warm, not smoking hot like my others, and stuck it on a friends dyno.... 889 RMS WATTS @ 1 ohm ! Buhya! all in all i am very please with this amp. it responds very well between extreme high/low frequencies quickly, very clean sound, and Way more power than i was expecting. Highly recommended to anyone looking for easy on pocket, but still good and reliable. thank you fosgate...

Pros: Cool running, high power, good response, small package, 1 ohm stable, a true beautiful product. better than punch series.....

Cons: its very nice to see an amp put out More watts than advertised for once..... but would be good to know it was capable to do so before getting tuned in. not all of us have a dyno, and if i wouldnt have been a hobbyist, i would have quickly burned up some brand new subs.... but still... Thank You! It's all about the base!

Features

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R750-1D is a mono Class D amplifier. It is optimized to power subwoofers, and 1-ohm stable. The Class D design is very efficient with a cast aluminum heatsink to keep it in a small footprint. The amplifier has 85% average efficiency at 4-ohms or 2-ohms, and 80% at 1-ohm.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The R750-1D's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. The RMS power output is as follows (measured with a 14.4 volt input, <1% THD+N, 20 Hz-250 Hz):

  • 4-Ohm: 250 watts x 1
  • 2-Ohm: 500 watts x 1
  • 1-Ohm: 750 watts x 1

LED Indicator: The amplifier is equipped with a top-mounted LED indicator which illuminates blue when the unit is turned on. The LED illuminates red when a protection circuit engages (short circuit or too low an impedance is detected at the speaker connections). The amplifier automatically turns off if this occurs.

Mounting: The amplifier can be mounted vertically, horizontally, or inverted using the supplied mounting screws; horizontal mounting (right side up) will provide the best cooling.

Controls

Controls: The R750-1D has the following top-mounted controls:

  • Gain Control: a rotary gain control that can be adjusted from 1 to 11
  • Low Pass Filter: a 12 dB/octave Butterworth low pass filter with a crossover point variable from 50 Hz to 250 Hz
  • Infrasonic Filter: a variable 15-40Hz, 12 dB/octave infrasonic filter designed to prevent frequencies below the audio range from being applied to the subwoofer
  • Punch EQ: a rotary bass boost control, centered at 45 Hz, from 0 dB to +18 dB

Remote Punch Level Control: The amplifier includes a wired Remote Punch Level Control, which is linked to the gain control of the amplifier. The module allows you to remotely control the output level of the amplifier from the dash or center console of your vehicle. The Remote Punch Level Control features a rotary dial, and comes with mounting hardware and a 16.5' connector cable.

Connections

Terminals: The amplifier features heavy duty, nickel-plated set-screw terminals. The set screws can be tightened or loosened with the supplied 3mm Allen wrench. The terminals include:

  • Power/Ground: will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire
  • Remote Turn-On: will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire
  • Speaker Terminals: will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. Two Positive (+) and Negative (-) terminals are provided for installation flexibility. Both terminals are wired in parallel internally.

Fuses: The amplifier does not have on-board fuses. A 60A fuse should be placed on the power wire within 18" of the battery.

RCA Input Jack: The RCA input jacks are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused by corrosion.

RCA Pass-Thru Jacks: The nickel-plated RCA pass-thru jack provides a convenient source for daisy-chaining an additional amplifier without running an extra set of RCA cables from the front of the vehicle to the amplifier location.

There is actually only one Stereo (Left and Right) Line Level Input. The other set of RCA's is a Loop-Through Output. This would be used, for example, if you were chaining together multiple amps. Hope this helps.
[ David  Dec 11, 2018 ]

Use the "input" if it's going straight to your music source like your head unit and use the Throughput" if you are running the signal from this amp to another amp

I believe you'll be happy with the performance of this amp. The one I have is 833 watts rms pushing a rockford fosgate p3 1x 12 at 1 ohm. The amp is only turned half way up and it HITS HARD! I would LOVE to hear it turned up higher with your two JL Audio subs!!!

Speaker Terminals: will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. Two Positive (+) and Negative (-) terminals are provided for installation flexibility. Both terminals are wired in parallel internally. The right way to get to 2-ohms will depend on your subwoofer set-up. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
