About the Rockford Fosgate T1693

Intense performance

Rockford Fosgate builds their Power Series speakers for the true car audio enthusiast. These Power T1693 6"x9" speakers utilize advanced design elements to ensure that they'll deliver superior sound in your vehicle for a long, long time.

Superior materials

The lightweight polypropylene cone is reinforced with strong carbon fibers so it'll keep its shape when you're pushing the speaker hard. You'll hear accurate reproduction of the lower and midrange frequencies, while the 1" aluminum dome tweeter and supertweeter make the high frequencies sparkle. These speakers will handle up to 100 watts RMS so you should connect an external amplifier to get the most out of them.

Rockford Fosgate innovations

Proprietary VAST™ technology increases the woofer's cone area without increasing the size of the basket. This larger cone gives you deeper lows and more power handling than the average 6"x9" speaker, and it's supported by a durable rubber surround that's designed to last. Open slots on the frame make it easier to install these speakers if the factory holes are slightly off.

Features

Injection-Molded Woofers: The woofer cones are injection-molded carbon fiber and polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the speaker has the capacity to handle its rated power under continuous demand, not just for an instant.

Klippel Verified: The Klippel distortion analyzer, a device that uses a laser and sophisticated software to do large-scale analysis of drivers in motion, lets Rockford Fosgate optimize the speaker's motor structure, voice coil alignment, and suspension to yield the best possible performance.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

Tweeters: The 1" aluminum dome tweeter and 1/2" aluminum dome super tweeter are mounted at an angle, so they can be aimed for optimum imaging.

StampCast Basket: The T152 features StampCast steel baskets for added rigidity.

Speaker Terminals: These speakers have 0.25" wide positive (+) terminals and 0.187" wide negative (-) terminals, which are too large for the vehicle-specific speaker harnesses supplied by Crutchfield for many vehicle applications. It is recommended that a pack of assorted female quick slides (item number 120FQS10PK, sold separately) be purchased and spliced to the harnesses to adapt them to the speaker terminals.

Q
Any reason why these wont fit the 3rd gen Tacoma? The other RF 6x9 says they fit but these ones say it wont.

Tyler, the fitment issue could be any number of things. Without knowing the exact year, make, model and trim, I wouldnt be able to say for sure. One of our advisors would be happy to help you figure it out! https://www.crutchfield.com/support/ContactUs.aspx

Q
What are the requirements on the size of the sealed speaker box for these speakers?

I'm not sure actually, I bought them for my rear replacement speakers in my 2000 Chevy Blazer. Thay are a true 6" X 9" replacement speaker though and work great, hope this helps.

I have the box at home that they come with, but for a 6x9, if you are replacing as I did in the deck of a 89 Corvette, the size was barely enough for the magnet to fit, and I still have a great bass response, with amp these are phenomenal, I put them in my wife's van, and those are not amped, but still sound great.

Q
What Amp would you suggest for these speakers?
[ Adnan  Feb 09, 2017 ]

Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your speakers I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system.
