About the Onkyo TA-RW255

Ralph Graves

The Onkyo TA-RW255 dual cassette deck keeps things simple, whether you're dubbing cassette tapes, or just playing them. The deck offers dual-well auto-reverse playback, and auto-reverse recording on deck B. It also detects the type of cassette loaded and automatically adjusts bias, equalization, and sensitivity for the best possible recording with that specific tape. Dolby B and C help reduce unwanted tape hiss for cleaner sound reproduction. The cassette deck also lets you "relay play" two tapes for four sides of nonstop music.

Product highlights:

  • auto-reverse record/play (deck B) and auto-reverse play (deck A)
  • Dolby B & C
  • normal/high-speed dubbing
  • relay play
  • frequency response (±3dB) 30-17,000 Hz — metal tape
  • signal-to-noise ratio 56 dB (Dolby C)
  • wow and flutter 0.13%
  • 17-1/8"W x 4-3/4"H x 11-15/16"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Features

Automatic Tape Selector: Detects the type of cassette in the cassette holder and automatically sets the bias and equalization to the correct settings for Types I, II and IV cassette tapes.

Tape Counter: This unit has a single, 4-digit digital tape counter. The same counter is used for both Deck A and B by pressing an A/B button.

Dubbing: Tapes may be dubbed at normal speed or high speed (Records in half the time of normal speed). Recording can be performed only on Deck B.

Note: High-speed dubbing is not possible when recording from the LINE IN (REC) jacks.

Reverse Mode: Allows you to select between copying one side of a tape (One side) or both sides of the tape (Repeat).

Recording Blank Space Insert: Allows you to insert a blank 5 second space between each track ( you can adjust this to a shorter or longer timeframe).

Remote Interactive System (RI): This unit is fully compatible with Onkyo's RI system. This means you can control virtually all of the cassette deck's major functions with other Onkyo remote controls.

CD Synchro Recording: When connected to a CD player with the RI symbol, pressing the play button of the CD player will cause recording to begin automatically on this unit.
