About the Onkyo UP-HT1
The UP-HT1 HD Radio tuner makes a great add-on for your compatible Onkyo receiver. It lets you enjoy the clear sound and expanded listening options that HD Radio programming can provide. And you can tune in regular AM and FM broadcasts, too. The tuner receives the free, digital-only HD Radio simulcasts many stations offer alongside their analog signals, as well as the additional digital subchannels some stations broadcast. The included proprietary cable connects between the UP-HT1 and your Onkyo receiver and carries both audio and AC power, as well as commands form your receiver's remote control.

Overview: The Onkyo UP-HT1 HD Radio Module allows you to add HD Radio to select Onkyo A/V receivers which feature a proprietary "Universal" port. The UP-HT1 HD Radio Module sends high-quality digital AM/FM audio via a single proprietary cable to your Onkyo receiver's Universal Port. The same convenient cable also powers the tuner unit, saving on cable clutter. The tuner features 40 random presets for FM and AM stations. A rear-side Universal Port input gives you the option of "daisy chaining" a second compatible device, such as the UP-A1 Onkyo Dock for the iPod.
HD Radio Technology: HD Radio technology brings digital radio to conventional analog AM and FM radio stations, with improved sound quality, better reception, and new data services. HD Radio technology provides CD-quality sound for FM stations, and FM-quality sound for AM stations. In addition, FM HD Radio station can transmit multiple programs on the same frequency by using multicast channels. Text data display includes station name, song title, artist name, etc.

Preset Stations: The Onkyo UP-HT1 HD Radio Module allows you to preset 40 of your favorite HD FM and AM stations. You can name presets for easy identification. the preset name may contain up to 10 characters.
Blend Mode: HD Radio transmissions contain analog and digital signal. If available, the digital signal is used automatically. In areas with poor reception, you may want to choose the analog signal.
RDS Compatible: RDS (Radio Data System) is a method of transmitting data in FM radio signals. In addition to displaying text information, RDS can also help you find radio stations by type (news, sport, rock, etc). The UP-HT1 supports the following types of RDS information: Program Service (PS), Radio Text (RT, and Program Type (PTY).
Remote Control Compatible: You can control the UP-HT1 with your compatible Onkyo home receiver and its remote controller.
Pass-Through Port: The Onkyo UP-HT1 features a rear-panel Universal Port input which gives you the option of "daisy chaining" a second compatible device, such as the Onkyo Universal iPod Dock (UP-A1, sold separately).
Memory Backup: The UP-HT1 uses a battery-less memory backup system in order to retain radio presets and other settings when it is unplugged or in the case of a power outage.
