Works great: all factory controls works, clear phone conversations, and the phone connects to the car immediately upon getting in. The only downside is that installation in our 2008 Ford Expedition was very challenging- the Sirius receiver is located under the gear shifter in the bottom of the center console

It works! I recently purchased a 2008 Mustang that had factory Sirius. The installation of this unit was super easy and took less time than I thought it would. The BT45 plugs into the Sirius receiver module in the trunk and all you have to do is run the mic wire from the a-pillar back to the unit. It's a skinny wire so it's east to tuck and hide. Best part is after the quick install the unit is flawless. Works way better than I thought it would. It recognizes my phone immediately and I can use my iPhone as a GPS, music streamer and as a phone all seamlessly. One thing to remember is that you have to be on the aux input

Pros: Works perfectly

Cons: none

Very easy to install. It provides native Bluetooth integration into your factory radio, displaying the song tile on the factory display and allows you to skip or go back on your factory display. Pairing was easy, sound quality is good. I'm glad to have this in my older car.

Pros: Provides native Bluetooth integration into your old factory head unit.

Cons: A bit pricy. I saw some other alternatives out there that are way cheaper but they don't integrate directly into the factory head unit.

Works well but you have to have it on the Sat1 aux setting to use it. It will ring on other settings, but you can't hear on speaker without being on Sat1

Pros: Must have on Sat1 to use all features

Cons: A real pain if your listening to am or fm when it rings in

Great product. Allows full control of incoming calls with steering wheel track forward and track back buttons on my 07 Navigator. The call quality I have beeen told is good and the audio quality while paired is outstanding while streaming music.

Pros: Sound Easy install Pairs automatically once I start up my car

Cons: The provided installation instructions were not specific enough for my vehicle though I was able to figure out and complete the installation with the help of Crutchfield phone tech support.

This product exceeded my expectations in both performance and ease of installation. I highly recommend this to anyone with even the smallest amount of skill.

Pros: Directions were very clear and left no doubt as I proceeded through the installation steps. Unit itself took less than 15 minutes to install. The longest lead time was running the wire for the microphone from the trunk area to the header over the windshield. But I was very pleased that the microphone wire included with the kit was of adequate length and the microphone clip made for easy installation between the windshield and the windshield header trim.

Cons: Only thing not included was some form of double sided adhesive tape to secure the main unit in the trunk.

2008 F-150 with factory navigation, audiophile system- Bluetooth

Clint from Lake Jackson, TX on 4/1/2016

Verified customer (What's this?)
Verified employee purchase (What's this?)

Searched for months on ways to integrate Bluetooth to the factory Audiophile system in the f150. My truck has the sub, so options are limited when it comes to kits like Parrot etc. I was just about to spend the $1000.00 plus dollars on a new head unit when I stumbled upon this product. Ordered, installed in about thirty minutes, most of that time was sent taking everything apart. Design is literally plug and play. Takes over the first channel on the factory satellite radio recover, song text, caller info, voice feedback, steering wheel controls work, its a flawless integration for under 200 bucks. I get in the truck and a voice says "connected", phone starts playing. Audio quality is just as good as any other Bluetooth audio device, sub works like it should, calls come over like they should, call quality is outstanding. I was skeptical, can't believe I was. It really is amazing. Get your 7mm, some pry tools, and an evening of time. I used some foam to tuck the module right under the radio, zip tied the excess cable right to the A/C harness and was jamming in no time. It's the only solution out there for integrating Bluetooth to the audiophile equipped Fords without replacing the stellar pioneer/audiophile head unit. So far the only feature missing would be playlist and song scrolling on the deck. The seek buttons work to change the song, but you can't access folders. For me, no biggy. I pick a playlist when I get in and set the phone down. Get it. It's perfect.

Pros: -cheap -retain the high quality factory head unit -no cutting, splicing, failure points -no sacrifice in sound/call quality -perfect integration into factory system -the only solution to adding Bluetooth in a factory system equipped with audiophile/sub option -song/ call info displayed on head unit, voice commands through your phone (Siri) all work. -connects automatically once paired one time

Cons: Not a single one. If you can't tell...I really am amazed.

Please consult Crutchfield's Outfit My Car for your vehicle's specific compatibility.

Note: The USA Spec BT45-FORD2 allows you to retain your vehicle's factory Satellite Radio tuner.

Bluetooth Pairing: The USA Spec BT45-FORD2 can only be paired and connected to one Bluetooth device at a time. Its compatible with most Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices such as Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows phone, and more.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the USA Spec BT45-FORD2.

Bluetooth Hands-Free Communication (HFP): The USA Spec BT45-FORD2 supports Bluetooth Profile HFP for hands-free communication from your Bluetooth enabled mobile phone, so you can take (answer/end) phone calls through your vehicle's factory radio.

  • Answering a Phone Call: When there is an incoming call, your factory stereo's music will be muted and an audible ring-tone will be heard through your vehicle speakers. You can even have the BT45-FORD2 announce the caller's phone number through your sound system; and for most text-capable radios if you miss the announcement, you can view the caller's phone number on your factory radio's display. To answer the call, simply press the Seek Up button on your factory radio or steering wheel control. To end or reject a call, press the Seek Down button on your factory radio or steering wheel control.
  • Dialing a Phone Number: In order to dial a phone number, you will still need to use your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone; you cannot dial a number from the factory radio. Once you've dialed a number from your mobile phone, then the call will be automatically transferred to the BT45-FORD2 and your factory stereo system.
  • External Microphone: The USA Spec BT45-FORD2 includes an external microphone to carry on your side of the conversation, while the caller's voice will be heard through your vehicle's speakers. The external microphone provides better performance in noisy environments than the integrated microphone found in many factory or aftermarket head units. The microphone is fitted with a 16' cable terminated by a 3.5mm connector that connects to the BT45-FORD2 module; it measures 0.9375" (w) x 0.6875" (h) x 1.625" (d). The microphone has a self-adhesive backing to mount it to your vehicle's driver-side pillar, head-liner trim, or dash (do not mount it to the windshield.

Bluetooth Audio Streaming (A2DP/AVRCP): The BT45-FORD2 supports Bluetooth Profiles A2DP and AVRCP for wireless audio streaming from a Bluetooth-enabled device that can also be controlled from the buttons on your vehicle's factory radio or steering wheel; in some cases you can also view song/artist information on your factory radio's display.

  • Wireless Music Streaming: You can stream music stored on your Bluetooth enabled device or stream music apps (such as Pandora, SiriusXM Radio, iHeartRadio, etc.) that are playing on your Bluetooth device to your vehicle's sound system (all speakers will play).
  • Music Control: You can control Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track functions from your vehicle's factory radio or steering wheel controls (other control functions will have to be done from your Bluetooth enabled device). You can control the volume of the music being streamed via your factory radio and steering wheel controls, or the Bluetooth device.
  • Song/Artist Information: In many cases, you can view artist, album, and song title information on your factory radio's display. In order to view song/artist information on your factory radio's display, your factory radio and your Bluetooth-enabled device must meet the following requirements:
    • Your factory radio must have a "TEXT" button or support text display through Preset-6.
    • If you are using a Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod touch/iPhone/iPad, then it must be running iOS 6 or higher. If you are using a Bluetooth-enabled Android smartphone/tablet, then it must be running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) or higher operating system.
    • Your device's Bluetooth AVRCP profiles must be 1.4 or higher.

Auxiliary Input: In addition to wireless Bluetooth connectivity, the USA Spec BT45-FORD2 is fitted with an auxiliary audio input (3.5mm) for connection of practically any portable audio device with a headphone jack output or analog audio output.

USB Charging Port: The USA Spec BT45-FORD2 features a USB (type-A) port to charge your smartphone or other portable audio device in your vehicle. Because the BT45-FORD2 is a hide-away device, you'll want to purchase a USB extension cable (sold separately) to make the unit's USB charging port accessible. The USB charging port is rated at 5V/2.1A.

Note: This USB port is for charging only; it does not support music streaming.

Dip Switches: There are 4 dip switches that will need to be configured. Make sure all dip switches are set to On / Off / On / Off positions.

Q
Just to confirm, this will not work with a 2006 Lincoln LS w/ factory nav?
[ Tim  Sep 18, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
I received this question and my application was for a 2008 F150 with factory nav. I installed it took about 5 minutes, It worked great even with the buttons on my steering wheel to answer the phone and voice to make calls. However about a month ago the unit took over all my sat radio stations, I no longer had sat radio, The steering wheel buttons no longer worked so I had to use the phone to answer the call but after answering it came through the truck sound system and I then had to use the phone to end call, voice no longer worked so I just disconnected the unit and went back to the old way with the input cord and the phone on the dash.
[ Morris  Sep 18, 2018 ]
Q
I have a 2011 F150 that has the factory Sattelite radio, but does not have Bluetooth, will this work with my system so I can have hands free phone and Bluetooth streaming?
[ Russell  Mar 30, 2018 ]
1 answer
A
I think if properly installed it should work. I have a 2007 Lincoln MKZ which had a factory installed Satellite radio, CD player, navigation system. I purchased this Bluetooth system and my son installed it. I runs through one of the 3 satellite radio systems. It allows for Bluetooth, hands-free calls, tells me verbally the number calling me. I can answer calls on my steeering wheel controls. I can also play wirelessly music through the Bluetooth system from apps such as Pandora or my iTunes playlists. Quality of phone calls hearing and speaking hands-free into th microphone is excellent. I was very pleased with the Bluetooth system.
[ Lisa  Mar 30, 2018 ]
Q
Do you have to have an active subscription for satellite radio for this to work?
[ Tim B  Apr 01, 2017 ]
3 answers
A
No. This device takes over your existing satellite radio capabilities (i.e., if you currently have an active satellite radio subscription, you won't be able to use it going forward). I actually didn't know that when I bought the unit. However, the ability to make bluetooth phone calls and stream audio from any app on my iPhone far outweighs SiriusXM capabilities alone. I transitioned my SiriusXM plan from radio to Internet Only. That didn't save me much money on the subscription, but now I can stream Spotify, YouTube Radio, SiriusXM, iTunes, etc. from my device (a much more powerful product offering). Just make sure you have a really good data plan on your phone.

You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you.
