TomTom's straightforward navigation

Since you may not always want an "adventure" on a road trip, TomTom's VIA 1425M offers simple point-to-point routing throughout the U.S., as well as Canada and Mexico. Its 4.3" touchscreen display and cool array of features help you plot and complete your course efficiently, so you can let your smartphone concentrate on the entertainment side of the journey. And you don't have to worry about future road changes affecting your travels as you can update the navigator's maps free of charge as long as they are available from TomTom.

A helpful copilot

The VIA 1425M boasts text-to-speech technology, so you'll hear actual street names announced at each turn. And when you approach certain turns, you'll see a split-screen display giving you both an overview of your route and a closeup of the turn. You'll have millions of points of interest at your disposal, so finding a nearby hotel, restaurant, or gas station should be a breeze. And TomTom's IQ Routes feature takes the average speeds of traffic along all possible routes to your destination into account, so you'll get the fastest route based on your time of day and location.

Lifetime map updates and sharing

You can keep your maps updated through TomTom's site, and you can also keep up-to-date with road changes through Map Share, a feature which gives you dynamic updates like new speed limits, blocked roads, and recent detours. And if you register these changes on your device as you come across them, you can share them with other TomTom users across the country.

Versatile mounting

TomTom's Reversible Integrated Mount lets you mount the VIA 1425M to your windshield or on your dash with ease, while still giving you the best possible view. Simply turn and click the navigator's base into place, and you've got a solid foundation. Then adjust the navigator for your preferred view. When it's time to move the VIA to another vehicle, simply turn the base the opposite direction, and pop it out.

TomTom VIA 1425M

Gene from Battle Creek, MI on 9/9/2018

Be aware of a big change in TomTom gps. My Via 1415 went from my favorite to least favorite GPS in one upgrade. It will no longer automatically come on when you start the car. Here's what you have to go through: 1. fumbling for the Power Switch ([it's on the back} and holding it for 8 seconds. 2. Waiting for it to boot up (2-3 minutes) 3. Clicking on the legal warning (it's not their fault if you crash) 4. Waiting for re-acquisition of satellites 30-90 seconds. This isn't a fluke, my larger TomTom now does the same thing. I've essentially stopped using mine. Google maps is ready in 10 seconds. Still prefer dedicated GPS for trips, guess I have to find another brand after 10 years of being a loyal customer.
