I paired this with my PSB Alpha 5 speakers and it sounds great, both the lows and highs, and everything in between.
Pros: Great price for high quality sound.
Cons: Not everything about its operation is completely logical; go online for more info.

No review, I have a question regarding this unit. Can I hook up a turn table to this unit? Does it have to have a pre amp built to work if you can?

Small Footprint, Big on Features and Performance!!!
David from Schenectady on 11/17/2022
Bought this unit for use with a TV in my dining room/kitchen area because of its size and features. Fit perfectly below my TV, connected to "optical TV 1" for audio, and connected the Jamo S 810 SUB for the subwoofer, I have a pair of 8" round Bose in the ceiling. Sound is fantastic... functionality is awesome. HEOS gives me all the connectivity I could want, and the unit will turn on when sensing output from the TV - and turn off when setting the "Standby" feature. Very clear visible display is great as we use it for a clock too. I could see this unit in a home office environment, bedroom, or any smaller area that you might want to enjoy music. Loudness is not a factor for my installation - 50 watts is more than adequate for most applications. I am very satisfied with the performance, features, and quality of this small powerhouse, I think you will be too!
Pros: Small footprint, packed with usable features, well built - quality fit and finish are excellent
Cons: for some, USB port location on rear is not convenient, although easily rectifiable with an extension cable

Fun Receiver/CD Player
Thomas from Soquel, CA on 2/20/2022
This Receiver/ CD player is very nice. I haven't had it very long but hope to get many years from it.Was easy to set up with great help from my Crutchfield support team member and am pleased so far.It is made of plastic not medal but has a very sophisticated look that is very modern bit a bit high tech to get used to but am learning more each day. Was worried it would not have enough power to run two 100 watt Klipsch speakers but handles them quite well. Many receivers are not available due to shortages so went with this as I needed a cd player as well. Unit has many phone apps for streaming music services and have yet to figure that out, but you can look up a user's guide on line at the Marantz website.
Pros: Almost all functions are run from the remote like the new flat screen tvs.
Cons: If you want and old school receiver this may be not be for everyone.

So Close, But So Far Away
Var from Las Vegas, NV on 2/8/2022
I bought this is a receiver for my office. I paired it with KEF Q150 bookshelf speakers and a compact Jamo subwoofer. The sound is nice. It doesn't seem as "open" or "airy" in the high range as it should, but it could be the speakers and/or acoustics of my office. Generally speaking, for a receiver at this price, the sound is pretty good. First, the interface. The instructions that come with the receiver are pitiful. I am very tech-adept, so I was able to set everything up. But it is very similar to setting up a Ring doorbell (where you need to pair your cell phone/ipad to the wifi card on the receiver, then in turn pair everything your wifi network). But imagine setting up a Ring doorbell without clear instructions? I was able to do it. But I suspect most people, particularly the non-tech-savvy, would struggle. Also, the unit has an OLED screen, but it's black-and-white, and displays almost nothing of value. In fact, without the use of an iPhone/Tablet/etc., this thing would be almost impossible to use for anything other than CD playback. Second, the design. it looks handsome, but a bit dated. The body is solid, but the buttons are cheap plastic, and they feel like something from a $99 amp. Third, the thing has issues with streaming. Trying to stream Tidal on "master quality" causes terrible pops, crackles, and gaps in playback. When using it for Airplay, there are constant errors when trying to change songs on the apple device.

Marantz M-CR612
Crutchfield customer from Altamont, NY on 1/2/2022
A terrific all-in-one music machine, connect it to speakers and go crazy finding ways to entertain yourself with music from cd's, radio stations, live streams, your own files and music services. Just one caveat, you might go nuts trying to find out how you do some of these things because the instructions--online manual only--are not specific enough. I got this mainly to play a vast collections of cd's, which sound fantastic and better than they ever did on other players I've used, so all the other things that this unit can do are just gravy on the turkey. I imagine there are new discoveries to come.

Doubling Down with Marantz
Crutchfield customer from Portland, OR on 10/24/2021
My wife and I are "old school" with a library of CDs that we want to hear. This is a nice compact unit that sounds good and is adaptable for present and future needs. We were disappointed in the predecessor M-CR611 when the CD player failed... so we're doubling down with this replacement. Crutchfield shipped this unit promptly and all is good at this point.
Pros: Compact with CD player that sounds good and is adaptable.
Cons: Successor unit CD player failed after just 6 years of light use.

So Happy
Crutchfield customer from Pittsfield, MA on 9/5/2021
Awesome sound in a small package. We wanted a unit that could play our collection of CD's and the radio both inside our house and outside when we entertain. What we got was the most fabulous sound and a learning curve on internet radio that we are enjoying more and more every day. Our neighbors may not appreciate our taste in music as we play it rather loudly for many hours of the day now, but at least it is in crystal clear sound with amazing variety. We are grateful for other customers reviews on this and other similar products in its class, as we had a smaller budget compared to many of Crutchfields customer base, this was a stretch for us that we in no way regret. It looks fabulous on our new bookcase my husband made for our office.
Pros: Internet radio, a whole new world of listening pleasures.
Cons: Not a great owners manual, but thankfully previous owners made us aware in their reviews

Honestly, it's been a long while since I've purchased any stereo equipment -- receivers, speakers, mixers, turntables, etc. I didn't know just how far behind I was in something that I enjoyed to the utmost years ago. After receiving and playing around with my new Marantz M-CR612 Network CD Receiver, and Polk S60 tower speakers, I was overwhelmed at the new advancements in this technology. This system, in 3 words, does it ALL! I am still tinkering around, buying sub woofers and other gear. I plan to pass this on to my younger generation nephews and nieces when I put it all together. It's truly fun getting back into the mix, so to speak. The system is awesome. The tech support was, without a doubt, the best I've encountered in years! Hats off to the Crutchfield staff in Virginia and technical support guru Felicia. Been a long time since you've cranked up the stereo? Get on board now.

The system works well and has good sound quality. It was relatively easy to setup and fits into my entertainment center.
Pros:
Cons: I was unaware that to utilize and fully access all features I had to download or at least review the manual from the Marantz web page. While there is perhaps a cost, a good selling point from Crutchfield would be to include a copy or perhaps an abbreviated copy of the manual.

This thing is cool -- I configured it to connect to my wifi, and it automatically gets Internet radio clearer than the local stations via antenna. Also connects easily to all the electronic doodads, including apple stuff, laptop, and bluetooth on an oooooold ipod. All intuitive and no issues. Sound quality is great. It even has an alarm clock. Only (tiny) downside, and i'm only picking because i'm writing a review, is that the usb port is on the back. So i got a $5 extension to plug usb sticks into that to play mp3s.
Pros: Easy to use Connects to everything Foolproof
Cons: Nothing

Strike two!
DERRICK from Jacksonville, FL on 3/3/2021
I wanted a more compact receiver and thought this would be an excellent choice being that it also had a CD player built in. Plus it's Marantz so I was excited (I'd just returned a Cambridge receiver that was too large for my cabinet unfortunately). Upon arrival I met the UPS driver who handed me the box. Knowing Marantz I braced myself for the weight and was happy to take the package. But wait a minute, this can't be the right delivery, it's way too light! Upon opening I found a nice looking but obviously cheaper plastic component, not at all what I expect from Marantz, especially for $700.00. Sound is "okay" but definitely not something that's mid-level audio grade considering the price. It's good for streaming digital sources, but if you need to add a turntable (I did) or other audio components this may not be the best choice. Not a terrible product, but I see this more for use in college dorm rooms or a "my first audio component". Crutchfield Customer Service is going to hate me but I have to send this back. I'll just have to continue to go with separate components in the future. Oh well, back to shopping!
Pros: Compact; good for digital streaming music
Cons: Plastic; not really for audio component connectivity

Do not buy
Guest from Knoxville, TN on 1/9/2021
Horrible. The network and the HEOS settings are all lost during a power failure. When you're re-entering your heos password, if you make a mistake, not only is the password lost but the user ID you just finished entering is also lost. Great concept; horrible implementation.
Pros: Looks nice
Cons: Completely frustrating

Great Compact Receiver
Crutchfield customer from Osseo, MN on 11/25/2020
This is an incredibly feature packed small receiver. I get great room filling sound from it with a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers. I like being able to send streaming sources directly to it. Managing source accounts and system volume from anywhere in the house is relatively simple with the Heos app once you figure out how to set it up.

Get to work while you listen.
Crutchfield customer from Laguna Niguel, CA on 1/26/2020
A tidy and compact receiver with a single, practical CD tray. The controls are minimalist in the best sense, get the job done without a lot of complexity and fuss. If you have limited space in your home office, want excellent sound, ease of use, and still get some work done without operational distractions from your music system, this is the one to get. Set up was a piece of cake. Of course good speakers are a must.

Glossy good
Richard from Loxahatchee, FL on 11/18/2019
Hello, I just received this Marantz 612 last week. I have to say when I first opened the package and saw it and held it, based on appearances I was a little disappointed. The high gloss plastic makes it look cheap. I suppose had the casing been made of aluminium, it might have cost much more ? Also there is no real weight to it, so it made me wonder what kind of amplifier and components are inside. I have the intention of using Focal's Aria 906 with it. I did call Marantz cust. service and was assured it could power these speakers well. We'll see. Now the good. FULL of features and the CD player sounded great via my headphones (B&O and Sennheiser PX100). I love the ambient lighting, you can change the colours. The internet radio from what I have seen so far is going to be great. It was easy to set up as well. Micro adjustments for tone via MGHtz is a great feature as well.
Pros: Feature packed Fairly easy setup and online manual for help Crutchfield has been great. 1st time customer
Cons: Looks cheap Lacks weight but not yet sure if that means anything Ugly remote by design
