About the Marantz PM7001
With a reputation for excellence extending back more than 50 years, Marantz has long been known for their premium high-fidelity audio components built primarily for connoisseurs. Now, even music lovers on a budget can enjoy legendary Marantz sound thanks to the PM7001 integrated amplifier. It's the ideal centerpiece for those who want a top notch, two-channel audio system that won't break the bank.
The PM7001 is based on design elements found in Marantz's top-of-the-line Reference Series integrated amps using sophisticated circuitry and hand-selected components for uncompromising musicality. Its powerful, high-current construction delivers the excitement and dynamics of your favorite tunes with room-filling authority. Well recorded pianos and guitars sound natural with a strong sense of immediacy. Large orchestral groups and choirs are well integrated with individual instruments and voices clearly distinct. You'll experience warm, transparent Marantz sound from all of your music sources.
The PM7001 offers six audio inputs, including one for a turntable, to provide ample flexibility for connecting your gear. Separate pre-amp input/line-level output jacks allow you to use the PM7001 as an independent power amplifier or pre-amp for future system expansion. You can also use the line-level outputs to easily connect a powered subwoofer. Two sets of speaker outputs let you conveniently bi-wire a compatible pair of main speakers, or power a second pair of speakers in another room. The PM7001's Source Direct mode bypasses the balance and tone control circuits for enjoying the purest possible sound.

More details on the Marantz PM7001
HDAM (High Definition Amplifier Module): Marantz uses HDAMs instead of standard op-amps, rendering a more dynamic sound and less susceptibility to radiated noise, heat, and vibration.
CD Direct Buffer Amplifier: The PM7001 incorporates a specialized input buffer amplifier at the CD input, this prevents interference between the left and right channels and from the effects of other circuits. A discrete configuration high-speed buffer amp built on the HDAM SA technology is incorporated into the buffer amp circuit.
CD Direct Selector: The output of the CD direct buffer amp has a specialized relay switch that sends the input signal by the shortest path to the pre-amp.
Momentary-Current Supply: The PM7001's main amp has the capability to momentarily pass 25 amps or more, providing high-powered drive to the speakers.
Short Power Line: To improve the momentary-current supply, a new layout placing priority on making the large current line connections as short as possible is used. The power supply circuit, main-amp output stage, and heatsink are unified, and the large current line is arranged to be as short as possible while remaining symmetrical.
Current Feedback Amplifier: Both the pre-amp and main-amp incorporate a high-speed current feedback amp circuit to maintain accuracy and a natural sound field.
Remote Control: The RC-4001PM wireless remote will control the PM7001 and Marantz CD players, DVD players, tuners, and tape decks.
Master Power: A mechanical switch turns the main power on/off. When off, the remote has no effect. When on, the remote can be used to switch between on and standby.
Input Selector: A rotary knob is used to select the input source for listening.
Record Selector: A rotary knob to select which source is passed to the two record outputs.
Bass: A rotary knob to adjust the bass output, +/-10 dB at 50 Hz.
Treble: A rotary knob to adjust the treble output, +/-10 dB at 20 kHz.
Balance: A rotary knob to adjust the left/right balance.
Speaker 1: Turns the speaker 1 outputs on and off. The speaker outputs are not automatically muted when you plug in headphones so the speakers must be manually turned off.
Speaker 2: Turns the speaker 2 outputs on and off. The speaker outputs are not automatically muted when you plug in headphones so the speakers must be manually turned off.
Source Direct: When source direct is engaged the bass, treble, and balance circuits are bypassed.
Speakers: The speaker system 1 and system 2 outputs are binding posts. They are not 5-way posts, but will accept single banana plugs, pin connectors, and bare wire.
Line Inputs: The CD, Tuner, and Aux/DVD inputs are RCA connectors.
Recorder: Recorder 1 and Recorder 2 have RCA inputs and outputs.
Phono: The RCA phono input will accept moving magnet cartridges. There is a ground terminal beside the phono input.
Pre Out: Stereo RCA outputs feed a powered subwoofer or another amplifier.
Main In: The PM7001 can be used as the main amp in a system with a different pre-amp. In this case change the Separate switch on the rear panel to on.
Processor Loop: The Pre-out/Main-in jacks can also be used as a loop to add an outboard processor, EQ, etc.
Remote control: An RCA input and an RCA output are used with other compatible Marantz components using the D.BUS remote system, CD player, DVD player, Tuner, etc. This allows the included remote to control the other Marantz components.
Headphone: A standard 1/4" headphone jack is on the front panel. The speaker outputs are not automatically muted when you plug in headphones so the speakers must be manually turned off.
