Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Love it. Does all I want and much more. No problems of any kind. Sounds great.
When it comes to features, performance, and value, Marantz receivers consistently blow most of the competition right out of the water. Their flagship SR7011 combines proprietary Marantz amplifier technology with the most immersive video and surround sound available for a first-class home theater experience. This impressive receiver works beautifully with the latest 4K TVs and Blu-ray players, even upscaling HD and standard definition video to 4K. Dolby Atmos and DTS:X put you in the middle of the action with realistic, multidimensional surround sound. Stream music from different sources and enjoy high-resolution music in your living room, or in any room of your house, thanks to built-in HEOS technology.
With built-in HEOS technology, the SR7011 can be easily integrated into a wireless multi-room audio system. Stream music to HEOS wireless speakers in different rooms, and control each room's speakers independently with the free HEOS app. The app lets you control playback, browse music sources, and select which rooms you want to use. Play the same music throughout your home, or listen to something different in each room. You can play music from your own personal library, internet radio, and popular streaming services like Pandora®, Spotify®, and Tidal, just to name a few.
The SR7011's 9-channel amplifier gives you extra flexibility to expand your system into other rooms of your house. In your living room, you can set up a 7.1-channel surround sound system or a 5.1.2-channel Atmos system with a pair of upward-firing or overhead speakers. That leaves you with two amplifier channels you can reassign to power a set of speakers outdoors or in another room. If you're happy with a 5.1-channel system in your home theater, this receiver can power speakers in two additional zones. Or the extra height channels can be used to bi-amp a pair of compatible front speakers for more powerful sound. A "Zone 2" HDMI output lets you watch video from two separate sources in your living room and a second room.
Access your own digital music library and thousands of internet radio stations from around the world through the SR7011's built-in Wi-Fi. There's support for subscription-based streaming services like Spotify® and Pandora®, so you can listen to all your on-the-go favorites through your home theater speakers. Bluetooth connectivity lets you stream any music you like from a compatible phone or tablet.
Scratch & Dent items may be missing non-essential accessories. In some cases the manufacturer's accessories have been replaced with generic equivalents.
Very nice receiver

Average Customer Review(s):
Love it. Does all I want and much more. No problems of any kind. Sounds great.
Not performing only after 6 months. Power fades and channels go in and out. Poor quality. Should have bought Denon instead
Using it for home theater does a great job, currently have a 7.1.4 setup.
Pros: Does everything I ask
Cons: None currently seen
Very nice receiver
Could not push my Martin Logan's and the center channel sounded very weak. Had to return it
Great looking easy to set up receiver.
Very pleased with this receiver. Maranta always delivers the highest in quality.
Pros: Easy to set up
Flawless operation. Using all 3 zones like a champ. HEOS works well, no issues. Love the sound.
Pros: Great sound.
I bought my first Marantz over 40 years while in the Army in Germany. That one was excellent. This one is beyond amazing. It is driving my Klipsch towers, rear speakers and sub woofer incredibly well. Could not be happier. Thank you
Pros: Makes the sound from my speakers simply amazing
so far so good. has a lot of new functions to learn.
Great receiver. Build quality and features are both very functional and useful. Love the 4K scaling feature and DTS X Neural is my new favorite setting for both movies and audio. The Crutchfield customer service team is very well organized, knowledgeable about their products and a true pleasure to work with. Thanks guys!
Pros: Build Quality. Feature Set Picture quality Sound quality
Matched up perfectly with my M&K surround speakers. Very musical with plenty of punch, it has that warm sound that reminds me of the old tube gear. A little on the bright side, so match your speakers accordingly.
This is a far better receiver than its price - and seems to be better at reproducing than I am at listening. I got this after an uneventful, pleasant journey with its stablemate, the SR-5011, in order to go to a 5.1.4 Atmos setup. My speakers are Orb Audio at the center, L/R and surrounds, and I now have Klipsch CDT-5800-C (also purchased here at Crutchfield) in the overhead Atmos spots. I also have the SVS PC-12 Plus subwoofer (again, Crutchfield). My sources are the Oppo UDP-203, an Xbox One X, and the HD/HDR versions of the three main streaming boxes. Right off the bat, this receiver is way smarter than I am. Not sure the exact reason, but the second the Audyssey had finished - I did carefully do all 8 recording positions - I noticed the more immersive, blended surround bubble far more than I ever had with the SR-5011. I also was more fully aware of that "warm Marantz sound"; my main speakers are best at at high 150 hz crossover and have aluminum shells, so they can be *very* bright-sounding. I need that clarity to hear as I am suffering with some hearing loss because grenade. :) It quickly became apparent that my previous satisfaction with my mains was reduced to simply form factor, as this powered the Atmos speakers well and they sound great, individually & up close. Far more full bodied, so my set up is a bit upside down at current. Mind you, the equalization works! It's just that I now know my mains need upgrading due to the capabilities of my AVR. Ooof!
Pros: Looks; power; adjustability; Audyssey XT32; that warm Marantz sound
Cons: Be prepared for this to show up any holes in your speaker hardware or install - before it shores those up with Audyssey
Does everything I wanted and plays well with Directv. Great deal once new model dropped, but this one sounds great and has all the bells and whistles I need.
I absolutely love this receiver! Crutchfield had a terrific price. Very pleased with my purchase! Regards, Greg
Pros: Great power and versatility...
Cons: No cons
Fast startup times. Intuitive setup. Great sound. Loving it so far. Big step up from the Integra I had previously.
Pros: Easy configuration. Great sound.
Cons: Internet radio app is so so.
Unbelievable sound field! More than enough inputs. Coming from Pioneer Elite was surprised at the improvement in sound. A keeper for sure.
Sound great, but, clearly, the best set-up guide of any product I've ever purchased!
So far so good. I bought this unit to upgrade my ability to play music in 2 different zones (dinning/outdoor) as well as using the basic 5.1 channels in the main room. I also wanted to improve my Airplay and add Bluetooth capabilities to play music through my computer using my iTunes library and the free version of Spotify. All is more than I expected after upgrading from an older Onkyo SR706. I did not expect to hear a difference in sound quality especially in my 2 other zones as well the main speakers in the surround sound room. The audio quality is improved overall and I had the ability to adjust the bass and treble in zones 2 and 3 using the AVR app from Marantz. I can control all three zones rather easily from this app. The set up was easier than described in previous reviews, although I did take the time to relabel wires and clean up the connections to the other components. The HD radio was another surprise in audible quality. I believe if I ever grow into the 9.1 channel specification I will lose zone flexibility but not the zones themselves. Future will decide. There is a learning curve with the remote and new bells and whistles (new to me) that I have yet to try. In addition I intended to buy a cheaper unit, but after describing the upgrades needed to make it worth while to upgrade, the Crutchfield advisor steered me in the right direction. I am glad he did. As with any piece of electronics you wonder what is next, I believe this unit leaves me with room to grow.
Pros: Sound quality and zone flexibility.
Cons: Remote symbols are too small for my eyes, and the front screen panel of the unit is not readable for my eyes at a distance. The remote has a light feature but still the screen is not bright enough.
This amp does exactly what I bought it for. I had recently purchased some Elac UF5 speakers and my Yamaha 80 watt amp wasn't enough to power them. Although I wanted the amp for both home theater and music, music to me was what was most critical. The Marantz does that very well. More than enough power for the speakers, plus it handles formats such as FLAC that my Yamaha did not. The styling is minimalist, which I love, but if you want more info the fold down panel in front offers an amazing display and knobs to twiddle. My one criticism of this amp however is the phone app. This is important to me as I play a lot of my music off a server, in addition to a turntable and CD's. The app really needs some work, as to play anything from a server you are almost forced to use the HEOS app. The HEOS app works ok, however having to screw around with two different apps, neither of them working as well as the single Yamaha app is a bit ridiculous in a receiver at this price point. I really don't understand why an upper end broad market brand like Marantz wouldn't put more effort into their app. Its a cross platform application that all their products could use, so its not like the cost of development is really a huge factor here. More time into that would have gotten this receiver five stars from me.
Pros: Great sound, more than enough power, beautiful styling.
Cons: Put more work into the app and this, and all other Marantz products become unbeatable.
Fantastic! Helpful phone sales walked me thru the process of finding the right fit . the avr is perfect
This is one of the most amazing receivers. It's capable of just about everything one can imagine. And that only half of the story. The other half goes to the Crutchfield team. Thank you guys for the excellent communication and tech support. I'll definitely recommend you to all my friends.
We are really enjoying this receiver. I have it hooked up to some defe tech 9060 speakers and it performs and sounds great. The Crutchfield people were great to work with. We have only had it a couple of weeks, but so far all is great. The only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5 is no owner manual, you have to go online for the manual.
Pros: Good sound, many functions and looks great.
Cons: No paper owner manual.
I upgraded from the SR6008 as I wanted the updated HDMI and Atmos Support. Although I do not have Atmos speakers yet, the sound after running through the Audessy calibration sounds more clear with my 5.1 setup. This unit also seems to have carried out an eco setting I actually find effective. It throws off much less heat when enabled, with no noticeable effect on performance. I also use it with a HEOS 5 speaker placed in my kitchen, which a nice addition.
Pros: Sound, configuration, eco mode
Cons: None yet
Purchased to replace my Arcam AVR600. Very happy with my choice!!
Pros: Great product Great service
Great product, used to power 8 JBL Arena in ceiling speakers. Extremely knowledgeable staff, saved me money by guiding me in the right direction for my needs.
Easy setup and beautiful sound
This is my first Marantz upgraded from a old Sony 6 channel. Great sound I was really impressed. Love the Audessy calibration.
Pros: Great sound easy setup. A steal for this price point.
Cons: None so far
I read many reviews on this receiver as "the" receiver to get. Easy interface and great app. It took me the better part of 8 hours to set it up and I'm still not completely setup. I'm now using 5 remotes, where I only used one before. The avr remote still needs work. The remote doesn't work when set to zone2 or zone 3. The only way I can control that is with my phone or ipad. My turntable required a call to Crutchfield. Great shout out to the tech folks at Crutchfield, they helped walk me through several issues. But that's the point, I shouldn't have had to do that. I'm still on the fence on whether to keep it or get the Yamaha, Sony or maybe Onkyo equivalent.
Pros: several input options. Good customization
Cons: setup with older equipment can be painful. Manual needs some work. Finding what you need is either buried or not at all.
This this is made so well. Beautiful looks and the best sounding amp I have ever had.
So far, so good. I liked using the Audessy microphone to have the receiver automatically set up and calibrate my speakers. It was fairly simple, and the results were amazing. The only down side is that you have to download the instruction manual - it doesn't come with a paper one, not can you buy it from Marantz. I would like to read and learn about this receiver without having to be attached to my PC. Minus 1/2 star.
Pros: Sounds great. Easy set up using microphone.
Cons: No paper manual - download only: minus 1/2 star.
I bought myself little baby Marantz SR7011 for Christmas because for some reason my wife thought my kid should get all the fun presents. While I appreciate the 6 pair pack of socks and flannel shirt she bought me I thought the balance of gift giving was a bit off. Having listened to my real child and compared it to the soft, warm and subtle tones of my new baby (Marantz SR7011) there's no comparison. Do yourself a favor...buy one of these, retreat into your man-cave and ignore your family. I'm fine with living on Hungry- Man TV dinners for the rest of my days as long as I have this little one in my AV rack.
Pros: Great sounding Easy hookup Powerful More fun and better looking than my kid Don't have to send it to college
Cons: Causing me to get a divorce
I really dig the design of this receiver, too bad it is hidden away in a cabinet. However, it is great having the Airplay functionality and internet radio capabilities. Copious amount of inputs, including HDMI and component video but inability to easily configure which speakers with each output, though it does automatically switch over HDMI based on source audio output. At this price point it is a great balance between upper edge tech and value. I finally bit the bullet after months of research kept leading me here; after having owned 2 prior Onkyo receivers.
Pros: Great looks Easy setup once speakers connected Awesome power Multiple source inputs and zones Comprehensive remote
Cons: Expensive somewhat complex menus Can not change smart menu buttons easily some modes decide which speakers to use and may not be ideal.
Love this product, have it hooked up to definitive Technology bp 9060 towers with two a90s and center channel. Definitive technology 9040 surrounds, dt 8 lcr in Wall speakers and one svs pb 4000. All in a 220 sq foot room. The marantz was the missing piece. Once I added this reciever the room came alive. 5 stars. Would recommend.
Pros: Great reciever, everything I wanted. Firmware updates are a breeze.
This piece of equipment is so much more than what I use it for. I would purchase a fan if you have it in an enclosed place. Very easy to setup and you will not look for another one for 10 years!
Disappointed in the performance of this receiver. My old Denon AVR 3300 performed better than this one.
Pros: Bluetooth and airplay
Cons: Dos not automatically switch between Dolby digital and 5.1 stereo. Have to manually done. Weak power.
I'm loving this receiver. I just upgraded a 17 year old Sony receiver that didn't even have HDMI inputs. This big boy Marantz has it all. I did about 2 months worth of "research" until I decided on this model. 9 discrete amps for all 9 channels pushing 160 Watts on each. Outputs for 11 channels with an added amp. I'll probably never run an 11 channel setup so.... The connectivity for airplay, wifi, pandora etc is really good. I bought a model of the road older Denon model a few months ago from amazon and it's conectivity was horrible, 30 days later it died on me. Returned it and I'm so glad this "flagship" Marantz is much better. Surprisingly the video upscaling really improved my picture quality on the TV and the pass through feature allows the kids to watch tv without even turning on the receiver and surround sound. I was looking for music and sound quality so the video features were a surprise bonus. Crutchfield, rocks. Fast shipping and the price I paid for this here was only 50$ more than what some discount refurbished sites were selling them for. You won't be disappointed in this receiver and at this price! It's a no brainer.
Pros: Discrete amps for all channels Video pass through and video up scaling is excellent. Great connectivity. Powerful rich sound.
Cons: It's a big heavy beast?? But it should be, so not sure that's really a con
This should be a better product. The specs and features lead me to believe this, but I found for my use, "not so much". I purchased this receiver to replace a Yamaha RXA870 as I upgraded to ELAC UF5 speakers which are 4 ohm devices. The 870 would have had difficulty driving all five speakers at this impedance, but the SR7011 specs state it will allow this configuration. Unfortunately when setup in the 4 ohm configuration what results is the power amplifiers current limiting, or clamping, which severly restricts dynamic range. My best guess is this was done to protect the Marantz from overheating as the five UF5's 4 ohm impedance would draw much more current than the more common 8 ohm speakers. For me dynamic range is very important so it was disappointing that this receiver could only deliver compromised performance. It should be a better product. Another shortcoming was the units OS, paricularly how it handles internet music searches. The search function itself is OK (TuneIn), however as far as I can determine you must store your choices (favorites) in HEOS. No thanks! I don't want another web account or my music choices probably being tracked. I do understand the other benifits HEOS could provide, just don't need them and there are no other storage options available within the unit itself. Also, the HDMI power management tools are weak. The room equalization works well in the mid and high frequencies but you will probably need to manually tweek the lower frequency setting.
Pros: Crutchfield customer support. Comprehensive choices for inputs, video cross conversion, build quality. If the power amps could drive 4 ohm speakers without limiting I would give it 4 stars.
Cons: Weak power amplifiers when set to 4 ohms. OS could be better.
After comparing and evaluating different AV receivers, I selected this receiver because my number one priority was to have incredible surround sound while watching movies. I was a bit hesitant about going with this because of reviews I read about the mobile app not being friendly to use. I'm not an AV expert. As a beginner, I found the receiver incredibly easy to set up out of the box with on screen instructions and the mobile app works great. I don't even use the remote. I use the app to control it and I'm still learning about all of the different settings I can adjust to fine tune the sound. I have it connected to a Sony 4k TV, Def Tech 9060 towers and center channel w/A90 Atmos and DT 6.5" in-ceiling rear surrounds and it sounds great. After running the Audyssey calibration it was incredible. I'm still breaking in the speakers, but they sound amazing right out of the box. Music sounds good in stereo mode, but its not as clear as the sound when watching movies, but it definitely pounds I may have to fine tune it. I'm really thankful for the Doug's advice and guidance with picking this receiver. With being overwhelmed with so much material out there, it was very helpful to speak with Doug and get solid advice and recommendations. I couldn't be more happier with the performance of this receiver and looking forward to expanding it with outdoor speakers and trying out more of its features.
Pros: Easy set up, Great power, and mobile app works perfectly. Bluetooth streaming of apple music from my iPhone works great.
Cons: Runs a little hot.
This Marantz sucks. There is no way to make another set of speakers work other than your basic speakers. If you have a set of speakers in another room you are screwed.
Cons: complicated beyond all belief
Really great sounding receiver, very happy with the sound and all the features.
Quality product. Only challenge I had was getting my optic cable to work for my Bose CD player. Had to wind up using ABC cables instead. Like the feature that lets you select from movie to stereo to theatre sounding.
Pros: Quality, good looking, easy to operate, sounds great and multiple pre-set settings for movie mode, CD mode etc.
Cons: Getting optical cable to work with CD player
Overall, I am pleased with this receiver, which replaced a 10+ year old Marantz SR5300. I have it driving a 5.1 setup of Monitor Audio Silvers with bi-amped fronts and it sounds great. I passed over the 6011 simply because the only display it has is the porthole, while this model includes something a bit larger below. The porthole display is virtually useless because it's so small. The screen beneath allows for modest usage, like song titles, and radio stations, but navigating deeply through menus can be a challenge when you are not yet familiar with them. My preference is to leave my TV off so if I'm browsing my digital library I usually use the HEOS app, which is alright. For disc playing or movie watching, the porthole display is enough. I do use the TV if I'm adjusting receiver settings, and I must say the Marantz menu tree is easy to navigate. I've had some issues with streaming locally, whereby the receiver says it can't connect. Whenever this has happened, I open the HEOS app on another device and clear the queue, which seems to fix it. I don't know what causes it; it is annoying; but at least the workaround is pretty quick. Speaking of quick, the unit is the complete opposite when it turns on and connects to the network. It takes almost a minute from power-on to ready-to-play from a streamed source. No printed manual. I guess I didn't spend enough. Marantz should follow Oppo's lead in that regard. All the plastic on the front makes it look
Pros: Sounds good
Cons: Looks cheap; Porthole display is almost useless; network connection at power-on is slow
Amazing sound quality
Pros: 3 zones
Cons: Need tv to set up
I bought my first Marantz in 1972. Loved it. After many years I replaced it with a Dennon AVR. Then replaced the Dennon with a Marantz SR6004. Lost the sr6004 to a power surge. Now with the new SR7011...WOW. What an update from the 6004. The setup on this SR7011 was painless. Music is very fine, clear with plenty of volume. . Running the Audyssey made a big improvement in the sound. Much better than the Audyssey on the 6004. I also Like the way it reads music titles off the USB memory stick. Price from Crutchfield is good. Their sales personal are very knowledgeable.
Pros: GREAT sound, easy to use.
Cons: none yet!
This is my second unit due to the ever evolving standards that constantly require us to spend more money. I wish they would make them upgradeable but they never do even when they claim they do. A solid unit that performs flawlessly and has great features and design. I am not one that pays the slightest bit of attention to the sound of electronics like this as I experience any decent or up amp as the same within the power range it was designed for. I focus more on the features, price, and aesthetics. I chose this over the comparable Denon mostly because I like the Porthole look that reduces the amount of light in my room while looking very different from most other brands. I value uniqueness.
Pros: Great features, nice design, good interface, quality build.
Cons: Price. Hey, I can always gripe about price! Even when I state it is good balance of value - I always want a better balance! Aside from that I cannot think of any other negative that makes sense to report.
Great sound for music, picture modes are really good, takes time to figure out what it can do and what it can't do. I spend weeks reading the online manual before buying.
Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Speaker calibration set sucks
So far it has been a great upgrade from my Denon. Really enjoying the added features and the sound coming from it is crystal clear. Really looking forward to upgrading speakers and subs next.
i have faithfully had many different Yamaa receiver's over the last 15+ years. They have all been very reliable, and have had the best features available at the time! The Yamaha RX-A2000 I still have is truly built like a tank like other reviwer's have said in ther reviews. The newestYamaha receier models look to be made even better! i went with th Marantz, basically, because I just wanted to to try something different that was built as well, had the newest technlogies, and features available! The newest Yamaha's Aventage rereceiver's look to be built like a tank as well. After much research from many areas I decided to try the Marantz SR701, because of how many features it has, how good it sounded to me, every person I talked to said it sounded! Even though It isn't hooked up completely, it sounds amazing, and the features are hads down as good as if not better than receier's that are a $1000 more! The Audessy, and manual setup is the best I have used before! I can keep going on, but the best thing I can say is I highly recommend it. Especially, since it's price on Crutchfield is a $1000 cheaper than the new model, and better than brands that cost even more. Only thing that has to be done is click ok a couple times during setup to let it install the same, and latest features the SR7012 and other newest receiver's have. So easy and worth the price!
Pros: So many to list. Best priced receiver on Crutchfield!
Cons: Non so far.
I started using this for a turntable and wasn't really going to use it with a TV. After I did the initial setup, which requires a TV for the video portion, I left it connected. Every time I get Alexa to turn on the TV, the 7011 comes on also. This synch's with the TV perfectly and really opens up the sound on TV shows and movies like I have never heard before. Truly amazing. I then wired it up properly and have yet to be disappointed.
Pros: Easy to setup, easy to use, sounds great
I have had many Yamaha receivers over the years and thought I would try this Marantz because of the great reviews and my need to upgrade to 4K. WOW, what a difference! Definitely worth the money!!! Made my Def Tech speakers come to life like I never realized their capabilities. Would definitely recommend!
Pros: Powerful Receiver with great features!
Cons: None found so far.
The Marantz SR7011 seems to be very well built and designed. It replaces a 9 year old Marantz SR8002 that lost it's display and only had HDMI 1.3a as compared to the SR7011 with HDMI 2.0a. I was able to repair the SR8002 myself and will now keep it as a spare in the event the SR7011 ever needs service. The calibration and setup went very well with the SR7011. However, the useful Save/Load function under the "General" settings menu only shows up after the latest firmware is downloaded. After the firmware is downloaded a new audio calibration must be done. Then your new settings for the SR7011 can be saved on a USB for future use if needed. The Sound is probably the best I have heard in my existing system with this calibration. I highly recommend using a $100 automatic fan on top of the unit (especially if it is inside a cabinet) to help extend the life of the unit from premature component failure. So Far So Good.
Pros: Acoustic Calibration Results Overall Sound Quality Connection Options Input Setup Options Build Quality WiFi Firmware upgrade process & notification Save/Load All Settings via USB
Cons: No 7.1 Analog Input Front Button like my old SR8002 The Remote Display is very dim Heat (Recommend using an automatic fan on top of the unit) No Hard-copy Manual and no mention of the SAVE/LOAD function under the "General" menu except online.
30 days in and so far so good. Sounds great. My only issue was during initial setup. There was one point that setup appeared to freeze but the fix was as easy as pressing "back" once and then trying again and everything worked fine after that.
Easy to set up to expistant speakers. It told me that one rear speaker was out of phase. Set all the level automatically. Sound great now I enjoy watching TV and listening to music.
Pros: Easy to set up Came with all the equipment for setup Sounds great
Great receiver Good power output compared to my old pioneer elite SC series.
Pretty happy with this product. I replaced my Pioneer Elite receiver that was a few years old and this is many levels above. Very easy to hook up and calibration was a breeze. Even with my older Klipsch speakers it sounds great. Crutchfield shipped that same day and it arrived at my home in 2 days. I think for the price it was a no brainer. Ive only had it for a week but so far I'm very satisfied with everything.
Pros: easy set up very powerful
Cons: nothing as of yet
Upgraded from an older Yamaha RX-v2700 in order to prepare my system for an upgrade to 4K TV later this year. I wasn't expecting a real upgrade in sound as I was always happy with the Yamaha. I was happily surprised to find out that this AVR really brought the system to life. I'm not sure if it's the advanced Audyssey system, or that there have been huge improvements over the last 10 years, but now music and movies sound significantly "better". The on screen menu and setup is a breeze. Not sure if we'll ever use the internet radio, but when we do the interface is quick and user friendly. If you're looking for a good all around AVR, it would be hard to beat this one.
Great product and great Crutchfield service. Order a scratch and dent model, and it was in perfect condition; however, the wifi wouldn't connect. After a brief 15 minute phone call, Crutchfield replaced the unit with a new model. Super easy return process. Unboxed the new unit, and it was absolutely perfect. The Audyssey Setup made the system sound great and the Marantz DAC makes this the best receiver I've owned. I'm coming from a Harman Kardon, and there is no comparison. I'd recommend this receiver and Crutchfield to anyone.
Pros: DAC, Audyssey Setup, Zone 2/3 HDMI
Cons: As with all receivers except Cambridge, there are no power ratings when driving 5, 7 or 9 channels. That said, this has plenty of power to run my 5.1 setup plus Zone 2.
I've went through 2 other receivers before finally finding this awesome receiver. This is my first experience with Marantz thanks to the recommendation of Winston at Crutchfield and I am really happy with the performance, features and ease of use on my SR7011. This is loaded with features and the sound is amazing. The Marantz Audyssey speaker calibration tool is fantastic and really helped me dial my settings in. I could not be happier with my purchase. I love the interface of the Marantz and how the menu system overlays your current TV program as you guide through the menu system. The remote on the SR7011 is a little busy but I really like the design and ease of use on it. This was also my first time shopping at Crutchfield. I am blown away by the professional, fast and thorough advice and support. There are not many companies out there that deliver a superb customer experience. And I am in no way exaggerating. First class.
Pros: Loaded with features Ease of use Calibration tool Sound Menu and interface
Cons: None that I can think of
It's ok. Most people are blown away by this receiver. I read all the literature and reviews. Fairly easy to set up. Not happy with one set of plugs for a zone.
Cons: I want true stereo separation for the other zones which this does not have. Use of RCA plugs is absurd for the zones.
Ok, I researched Home AV surround sound receiver for 4 months. I went to another company and did the whole Magnolia Experience with their products. I went to Bose and did the top of the line private room surround experience. I went to my buddies house and let him crank up his JVC System. And I went to my co-workers house and listened to his Yamaha RX-A2050 Aventage, (Which was really awesome). I had my heart set on the RX-A2050 but I was invited to a dinner party by my loan officer and he had The Marantz SR-701. The game was over. I had never heard such clarity. I even cranked it to 85% of the volume capability and it was still crystal clear. By the way at 85% it begins to be painful to the ears. I connected the Marantz to 5 in ceiling Polk RC80i and a Definitive SuperCube 4000. This system can be heard down the block when turned to 75% of max volume. I am afraid to turn it all the way up as I have already knocked a picture off the wall with the SuperCube at 30/40 of its max volume. I never knew a complete system could sound so amazing. Everyone that I have allowed to listen to the system has stated that they feel like they are at an outdoor concert when I crank it. Also, the movie experience of watching a 75" inch tv with these speakers makes you feel like you are at a real theater. I'd give it 10 stars if I could. This system is really worth considering if you have couple grand to spend. It sounds amazing in large room setting. I have a 5,000 sq ft
Pros: Quality, Sound, Volume, Clarity!!!!
Taking away Front Wides ticks me off. Ever since I configured my SR7009 with 9.2.2 I can't go back, I'd rather upgrade to the newest flagship that offered flagship specs. Missing DTS:X (yes, another purchase like Auro) . missing front wide, incapable of using the 13ch pre-outs, only 11 of them. I love Marantz, I've been buying their product since 1978 (minus the dark years) and going backwards on a flagship AVR is not the way to go, front wides are available in the discs we all have. I hope the SR7012 gets back on track.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: DTS:X is an upgrade?? No front wides?? Come on!
The SR-7011 arrived on schedule in perfect condition. As good I as thought my Pioneer Elite was, this sounded quite a bit better immediately with just the default settings right out of the box and it only went up from there. This was especially true listening to 4K Atmos source (using the amazing OPPO UDP-203 player). Then when I hooked up the Atmos speakers for the first time and ran the Marantz playing Atmos in that configuration, I was simply blown away. Its amazing how much the height speakers add (even just two of them). We have a fairly large listening room and it has plenty of power nonetheless. A salesman somewhere warned me that the Marantz is hard to use. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is clear, obvious and straight forward with a far better (but not perfect perfect) manual than most consumer hardware. Unfortunately, a paper copy is not provided which is really bad considering what this thing costs. The setup assistant works very well and the speaker correction software works very well. Also, the sound mode "up sampling" functions are excellent. It can simulate Atmos quite well, especially from uncompressed 7.1 source. Bottom line, it's pretty awesome...
Pros: Sound, sound and also... sound. Easy to use. Very full featured. Excellent speaker correction software. Good manual but no paper copy provided (which is inexcusable at this price level).
Cons: Expensive. No paper manual. Requires an external stereo amp to run BOTH front and rear height speakers (but it can run two which is a major step up from not having any). Doesn't seem like the RF radios work very well though I hardly ever use them (its internet radio function works great).
The most amazing box I have ever owned. I call it a box because I know zero about technology. Two installers ( not selling anaything) said while my Yamaha rx860 was a fine a/v it was not up to powering my Polk LSIM 707s plus sub and center speaker plus Paradigm v60 backs. So I bought the Marantz sr7011. What a dream. I am into classical. The highest violin and flute notes sound pure and crisp, no tinny or shrill sound. The deep base, cello and percussion sound like I bought a new subwoofer. The overall sound quality is superb. For those into home theater, I have not bought a 4K smart tv yet si I can't say much. What I can say is I used to have to sometimes strain to understand dialogue. Now the dialogue is as clear as a bell and this is a problem of the past. If the price is not an issue, buy it
Pros: SOUND QUALITY
Cons: Only 5 "sound modes", but who needs them.
I purchased this unit as a replacement for an aging Denon AVR which never really fulfilled my needs. When switching problems between inputs arose, it was time to find a replacement. After reading a multitude of product reviews for different units from various manufacturers, I chose this new unit from Marantz. This unit does not come with a physical user manual, which must be viewed or downloaded from the Marantz website. At first it was daunting until I viewed the manual and used the Setup Assistant. This unit will handle speakers in the 4~16 ohm range and bi-amping as well. A beautiful piece of equipment. I am surely pleased . The folks at Crutchfield provided 3 day free shipping and it was received in like new condition. I continue to call on Crutchfield for my audio and video needs.
Cons: Back light on the remote is much to short.
Excellent product. Competes with high end receivers and is much lower priced. I have this and an Anthem 1120, I am more impressed with the bass management of the marantz. In addition, the HEOS App is far ahead of DTS Play Fi in its features and functionality. Would highly recommend this product.
Pros: - Bass Management - HEOS App - Sound Quality - Network connectivity
Cons: - None so far
Fabulous sound, easy to setup, menus and online manual very detailed and easy to figure things out. I did hear a hum when playing sound through secondary zones and after about 4 hours traced the issue to interference from a bad connection on the cable line feeding into the cable box and then getting into the radio via the hdmi cable. Even with cable box unplugged the hum went to the secondary zone. Only when disconnecting the cable into the cable box or disconnecting the hdmi from cable box to receiver did it stop. Needless to say coz cable is coming out to resolve the noise. Glad it wasn't the new receiver!

9-Channel Discrete Amplifier: The Marantz SR7011's powerful amplifier section features discrete high current output devices on all nine channels, and all amp channels are configured identically. Rated at 125 watts with 2 channels driven (8Ω, 0.05%, 20Hz-20kHz), the SR7011 has the ability to drive lower impedance 4Ω speakers on all channels. The AV receiver's amplifier section employs Marantz's exclusive HDAM technology and Current Feed Topology for exceptional sound quality, dynamic range, and clarity.
Amplifier Assignment: The SR7011's nine discrete amplifier channels can be configured to accommodate your type of home theater setup. You can even connect up to eleven speakers at a time and the receiver will intelligently and automatically select which speakers need power based on audio source and surround sound format.
Note: The receiver's Height 1 & 2 amplifier speaker channels in a 9ch or 7ch amplifier configuration can be configured as Top Front, Top Middle, Top Rear, Front Dolby, or Surround Dolby for Dolby Atmos or DTS:X.
Advanced 32-Bit D/A Conversion On All Channels: For optimum fidelity and the widest dynamic range with lowest distortion, the SR7011 features advanced reference-class 32-bit AKM D/A converters on all channels. This ensures consistent high fidelity and precise channel matching across all channels for the ultimate listening experience. In addition, the receiver utilizes a Hybrid PLL Clock Jitter Reducer to eliminate distortion caused by jitter errors for a more accurate reproduction of the recording the way the artist intended.
Digital Signal Processing (DSP): The Marantz SR7011 is equipped with a high-resolution Analog Devices (ADSP21487) 32-bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP). All elements of the Surround Processor are optimized to the highest standards by the use of selected high performance and discrete components, particularly the A/D and D/A converters and the sophisticated DSP surround decoder.

AURO-3D Upgrade ($199): Auro-3D is the next generation three-dimensional audio standard. It provides a realistic sound experience unlike anything before. By fully immersing the listener in a cocoon of life-like sound, Auro-3D creates the sensation of actually "being there". Thanks to a unique "Height" channel configuration, recorded acoustic reflections are reproduced by these speakers and are heard naturally due to the fact that sounds originate from around as well as above the listener. Once upgraded with the AURO-Codec Decoder, the SR7011 is capable of decoding the original Auro-3D mix and playing back an Auro 9.1 or 10.1 channel configuration.
Audyssey Platinum:SR7011 features the Audyssey Platinum suite of powerful DSP features; including MultEQ XT32, Sub EQ HT, LFC, Dynamic Volume, and Dynamic EQ.
Direct Listening Modes: The Marantz SR7011 offers two Direct Listening Modes which bypass the receiver's tone & DSP processing for higher sound quality performance. good deal. 9.2 channels [ Jonathan Jan 26, 2018 ]
What a value! A top of the line AVR from a great company. I didn't plan to upgrade, but with changes to HDMI and a dead TV, I had no choice. This system meets all of my needs at a great price. Reviews from other customers and research show that this is a high quality, great sounds AVR at a fraction of the cost of similar units from other manufacturers. Add in the ability to use my Project Debut Carbon, and it's a winner for me! [ Chris Jan 22, 2018 ]
With Wolf's guidance, we whittled down the list of receivers to what looks to fit my needs the best. This unit was picked due to its musicality and ability to play 4 ohm speakers on all channels. [ BARRETT Jan 20, 2018 ]

Connectivity. Advised by Marshall that for my setup, this was the best value for my money. [ Adam Jan 06, 2018 ]
I had been considering an upgrade for some time, and had been looking at both the SR 7010 and the SR 7011. I like what I've read and heard about both. I saw a comparison to the SR 7012, noting that the 7012 dropped the HD Radio tuner with most other features and specifications very similar. With the 7012 out now and the 7011 price reduced, this seemed like a good time to buy. I decided to buy the 7011 now before they become unavailable. [ Jason Dec 28, 2017 ]
Multi zone, HD radio, great reviews [ Elaine Dec 24, 2017 ]
Perfect for my needs: high-quality FM/HD, CD, and streaming XM audio sources plus enhancing audio from TV. Versatile. (But I have no need for all the surround speakers, just 2.1 in one zone, 2 in another; so the output capabilities are overkill for me - unavoidable, apparently, if I want to feed TV audio through system, too). [ M Dec 18, 2017 ]
Nearly identical in features and quality to the newer model but cost 800 dollars less! [ Kevin Dec 18, 2017 ]

Lot of good reviews across internet. Integration with popular products such as Amazon Echo, Spotify, AirPlay etc.. [ Ganesh Nov 30, 2017 ]
Owned previous model of an older generation. Had features I wanted. Even though I could have saved $80 ordering through another source, I'm going with Crutchfield for their support in the event something goes wrong. [ Michael Nov 29, 2017 ]
Time to upgrade my 23 year old HK AVR 30 , that provided many enjoyable moments. For the price it was well worth it. This will last another 25 years I would hope. [ chacphet Nov 29, 2017 ]

High quality item at sale price [ Jeff Oct 17, 2017 ]
Stereophile review of surround systems placed an upline pre-amp/processor by Marantz with a favorable rating. I would have preferred to go with a NAD receiver by far, but was worried about committing to only 3 or 4 HDMI inputs for the foreseeable future. Might have spent $3-4k if you guys sold the Emotiva modular pre-amp/processor in a combo with a decent multi-channel amp selected by your experts. [ John Oct 17, 2017 ]
Archer was great and helped me make a final pick on what I needed. [ ryan Oct 16, 2017 ]

good reviews [ LENNY Oct 07, 2017 ]
I chose the Marantz SR7011 based on its future-proof compatibility for ultra HD video and various audio formats, built-in HD Radio Tuner (increasingly rare to find these days but I use it), reasonably good output power, dual-subwoofer capability (I have 2 subwoofers), and almost universally good reviews about musical sound quality for audio playback. [ Lance Oct 03, 2017 ]
I have other Marantz equipment and am very happy with it. I was going to purchase the 6011, but thought the extra dollars for the 7011 were worth it. [ Tom Oct 03, 2017 ]
Like their products [ George Patrick Sep 26, 2017 ]
Good price [ Kathleen Sep 23, 2017 ]
Tim at Crutchfield sold me on it. Marantz is known for strong quality and performance. It has way more features than I'll use, but I like the power and the ability to use an HDMI for Zone 2. This is a terrific model year closeout. [ Blake Sep 23, 2017 ]
Still has HD Radio, which is very prevalent in the DC area. Also, has powered zone two that will play HDMI audio source. Will use it to power the deck speakers I got from Crutchfield in the spring, as zone 2. [ STEVEN Sep 22, 2017 ]
Because the Yamaha Aventage Rx-A3060 was no longer available, and wanted to make the purchase now before the SR7011 was no longer in stock. The new models coming out don't offer me anything the outgoing models don't. [ Jason Sep 18, 2017 ]
Had all the features I was looking for at an outstanding price. [ Steven Sep 11, 2017 ]

I have had several years of great service from the Marantz SR-7008 and am now ready for 9.1 sound and 4K. [ STEPHEN M. Oct 21, 2016 ]
The signals are not different. They are mono. They just allow for 2 sub-woofers in the same room. [ David Jun 23, 2018 ]
Not sure I don't not have a 4K tv. [ John Jun 20, 2018 ]
I have used regular cables and it up converts perfectly [ JEFF Jun 20, 2018 ]
HDMI 2.0 is fine for 4K. If you are trying to get HDR from blue ray or HDR for sports you may want to upgrade cable possibly [ SCOTT A Jun 20, 2018 ]
Standard high quality HDMI is sufficient. [ Curtis Jun 20, 2018 ]
The Marantz does feature their "All Zone Stereo" function: "The All Zone Stereo function allows you to enjoy the AV receiver's Main Zone audio source in Zone 2 and Zone 3 simultaneously (regardless of input audio signal types - analog, digital, or wireless). During the All Zone Stereo mode, only the "Multi Ch Stereo" and "Stereo" sound modes can be selected. You will have independent volume control in each zone. All Zone Stereo mode is useful when you want to enjoy the same music at the same time in multiple rooms during a get together or party." I hope that helps. Sorry, don't know what an I3 zone is. It does support three zones though. I don't use them but I think it's described in the manual which you can download. You could also email customer support with questions but Marantz' customer support is particularly bad so it's hit or miss. Good luck. [ Russ Jan 15, 2018 ]
Indeed you can as that is exactly how I hook up my speakers to make it far simpler. [ JIM Nov 28, 2017 ]

I have had 3 updates to my unit. What Features are you looking for? [ A ROBERT Nov 25, 2017 ]
I don't use this feature yet so can't help. [ bob Nov 13, 2017 ]
It is perfectly clear. I use xfinity or xbox one s for blu rays through the receiver and to a sony XBR900 tv. It works perfectly and has no lag from lip movement to sound. Picture is crystal clear. Finally a system that works without lag or distortion. [ scoop Nov 13, 2017 ]
Both 1080p and 4 K are crystal clear. However you probably can't tell the difference between the two.. When you see hdr signals, you will see a significant difference in the richness of colors. [ james Nov 12, 2017 ]
The 7011 is an awesome amp, it's perfect to build around right now I have two rotel power amp hook up [ HECTOR Nov 12, 2017 ]
Yes. I'm actually doing 7.2.4 (the acoustic correction software can control two subs separately) and it sounds fantastic. I'm using the Marantz MM7025 to power the back height speaker pair. The setup routine could walk a child through it. [ Russ Oct 10, 2017 ]

Hello! I'm sorry Crutchfield passed this question to me - I just bought a 7011. I want to know this too and Crutchfield should be answering the question, not its customers!!! How could WE possibly know the answer to this?!?! [ Russ Mar 21, 2017 ]
I personally do not know the technical on that, but I absolutely love the receiver [ JOE Mar 21, 2017 ]
